1. Damn, looks like we've got to do it now
2. My feedback. A good comment should be like a woman's skirt: long enough to cover the subject and short enough to create interest.
3. I agree, Most of the books I've got are in proper notation and TAB, but as you say they're no use for learning on another instrument and don't give you the rhythm or timing anyway. I used to be able to read music reasonably well, but I've got out of that habit so my task this year is to start again.
4.
Everything seems to be tabs.
Probably because TAB is easier to write on a computer than dots... ---------------------------------- ---------------------------------- ---------------------------------- ---555---555---555---555--- I don't know how you'd do that without some specialist notation software. Just my 2p mind, I can't help you with the score you want to find.
5. The Midlands Bass Bash 2014 is taking place on the 10th May 2014 from 1200 to 1700. The venue is Brockington College, Blaby Road, Enderby, Leicester, LE19 4AQ It's easy to get to from J21 of the M1. Take the A5460 and at the first roundabout turn right onto the B4114 towards Narborough. Carry on the B4114 past Fosse Park on the right until you get to another roundabout. Turn right here onto Blaby road, the B582. Follow this road and once you cross the motorway Brockington College is the next left. In the left hand corner of the car park is direct access to the front of the school. If you want to use that to unload that's fine, but it would be appreciated if you would then park in the car park proper afterwards. The room we are using is the first door on the left, just beyond the disabled parking bays. We'll try and get a sign up with an arrow! We're going to ask for a £5 entry fee on the day. On the off chance enough people turn up to cover the costs any extra will be donated to a charity voted for by the attendees. I think that's about it, any other information will appear in this post at the top of the thread and then be bumped. Can any possible/definite/probably attendees put their names on the list so we have a reasonable idea of how many to expect. 25-02-14 - I have arranged with Donnyboy that the BC Bass Relay (Bass Relay) Baton will be at the Bash. Ideally I don't want to take it home again!
6. The bridge isn't setup properly either, but that's hardly a real problem. Did 70's P-Basses come with white pickups? It does look in very good condition for a bass that's nearly as old as me
7. I would have said that the head is smaller than it should be. Look how close the decal is to the edge as well. I've no idea why it would be smaller though!
8. I like the idea of the reverse P with the MM, but it doesn't look like it would fit inside the original scratchplate. Does anyone know what sort of pickup was in the American Deluxe P? I know the originals were a Bill Lawrence design but are they an MM style or some sort of hooligan Jazz pickup?
9. I've always played with a plectrum and use Dunlop 0.60mm if that helps.
10. I'm not keen on the bridge on my P V. It's a cast BBOT if that makes sense but the saddle on the B is being pulled in towards the E and the G isn't quite in line with the poles on the pickup. I'm sure it's not a problem but I'd like some more adjustment if possible.
11.
I'd go with 65' Fastback with Cammer S plant in dark graphite blue w/ white stripes, but yours is nice as well
Oooh, I like the gills behind the door on that
12. I've had both the 4 and 5 string versions of the Schaller 3D and rate them very highly. Lots of adjustment up and down, back and forwards and side to side. The string path is nice and simple as well so restringing or intonating is easy as well.
13. '68 GT, in green, like the one in Bullitt
14. Some of you have said to get a hot pickup to better match the existing Fender standard P one. Er, what do you mean by that, and how do I tell whether it's hot enough?
15. Yes I know I only got it last week, and yes I know that no-one but my wife and I have seen it but I'm thinking of PJing my new P. Suggestions please as whether to go for an American Standard Jazz V pickup or one of the MM style ones the later Deluxe P's came with, or even to replace the P pickup as well so to have a matching set of aftermarket pickups. Getting the standard Jazz pickup is currently my favoured option. It may never happen but I'm thinking about it!
16. Has anyone used Paul at Arrowhead Guitars for anything?
17.
Nice ! Candy Cola Red?
It is indeed. It's a weird colour TBH. Lovely but weird. Where the light hits it it's a metallic red but that really quickly fades to a rich reddy brown. I like it!
18. Shiny! Nowt wrong with more Precisions I can't see the jack socket. When you said Strat style I expected to see the chrome recessed pocket on the front of the bass, Is it in the side?
19.
Is that the George North signature model?
Given the length of time it's taken to get this far it's more a Heineken Cup trophy celebration!
20. My new baby:
21. Ta-daa Not only was my new bass waiting for me, but my Christmas pressie was as well, a new hard case for my other bass I've had a good look and a quick noodle whilst dinner was on and it's lovely. Sensible action and a non-floppy B string There are a couple of things I'm a bit surprised by, the B and G strings have all the string wrapped around the tuning post and the B and E strings sound really woolly compared with the other three but the outside edge of the pickups are screwed down so far they're nearly flush with the body so it could just be that they need winding up a bit to bring them closer to the strings.
