1. I've got one of these, but Mexican made. Has kept me GAS free since I got it - an awesome bass. This is a great price too, have a bump on me.
2. I've always enjoyed modding my basses. I got the Classic 70's Precision from Lozz a few years ago and promptly put a Duncan SPB-3 in it... However it's quite boomy and doesn't fit in with my new band. I've always liked the sound of Jay Bentley's (from Bad Religion) bass and discovered he uses the DiMarzio DP122. I also love Tort pick guards, particularly the Am Std Olympic White/Tort look... So i swapped the stock Black out. When I saw the DP122 was available in cream, I took a gamble and thought it would pick out bits in the tort and complement the white bass, and i'm not disappointed with the look. In fact IMO it's awesome. The DiMarzio sounds great too, more a traditional P sound as opposed to the SPB-3. I love this bass... it has kept me bass GAS free, I haven't seen anything that looks as good. Sadly, I've made up for that when I bought the CTM100!
3. I play one through an Ampeg 4x10 and it's more than loud enough... never had to go past 11 o clock on the volume. Brilliant amp, would definitely recommend it.
4.
Sounds great to me....... absolutely love your bass sound mate (I'm a massive fan of the SPB3 pickups - I've got some on a couple of my Precisions). Which Sansamp was it and what settings did you use? Mart
Thanks Mart... i used the "fat tube" setting from the manual and it was the basic BDDI sansamp.
5. When I was a young lad (13-15 years old) I was in a pop-punk band with some school mates. We were dedicated, hard working, and for our age pretty good (if I do say so myself). We used to put on gigs in our guitarist's garage with some other local bands and they always got closed by the local plod and countless gear was broken but it was great. I've been in a few bands since but for me, those were the glory days. The other guys in the band went their own separate ways but we've always continued with music in some form or another and a few months ago made a decision to start writing music again. We're all a bit older now (all 27) We live in Didcot, Fleet and Brighton, use Southampton as our base of operations (guitarist went to uni there and can draw a reasonable crowd) and rehearse every fortnight in Woking. We've done a couple of gigs so far but i've rediscovered that love for music that I have been searching for years. We recording this EP a few weeks ago, drums in a studio and the rest on the singers Mac, mainly to save money. Bass wise, I used my MIM P (with Duncan SPB3 pickups) into a sansamp then straight into the computer, and I'm really happy with the tone given the restrictions (I wanted to use my CTM100 and Ampeg 4x10 but his Mrs wasn't too keen!) Anyway, enough from me, please take a listen and I hope you enjoy it. Cheers!
6. Very temped by this to pair with my CTM100... shame i've just bought an Ampeg 410hlf.
7. Okay, so I've tried the class D thing... I have an Orange TB500 and used to have a Berg CN212 and loved it. But i've always preferred the sound of valves. I use a LB30 for practise at home and recording but sadly it's not loud enough for any of the bands I play in. I found a relatively cheap Ampeg 410 on gumtree (I tried one with my TB500 at a gig and really enjoyed the vintage warmth over the transparency of the CN212) and today the CTM100 finally arrived from Andertons (god bless 18 months 0% finance)... Only tried it at home but can't wait to take it to rehearsal to open it up a bit...
8. I've just bought an Ampeg 4x10 and waiting for an Ashdown CTM100 to arrive. I've got a small valve rig (LB30) that not loud enough to gig and although I stepped down the lightweight class D path, i've always wanted that big, all-valve rig. Hopefully that will hold back the GAS for a while. I bought a mexican P of Lozz a few years ago and I honestly haven't been tempted to buy another bass since... but I know once I clear my credit cards, something will build up inside and i'll be getting another card to put down a deposit for a Mike Lull. What makes me sit up is when people ask how much I spend on gear... I think £500 for a nice P or £400 on a decent second hand cab is reasonable, my colleagues and friends think i'm crazy, yet I don't feel an ounce of guilt about it.
9. Last weekend I travelled from Oxford to Southport to pick up an Ampeg 4x10 for £380 found on gumtree... A day later one pops up on here in sussex for £350. Sods law!
10. Awesome rig. I've just ordered a CTM100 myself and tomorrow i'm picking up an Ampeg 410 to plonk it on when it arrives... Tried out the CTM in PMT Bristol and it sounded superb when cranked... can't wait until it arrives. Enjoy NRG dude!
11. I stripped down an old squire P (in black) using a heat gun... the results were fairly quick but it was messy and if I didn't have the right safety equipment... The heathen took all but a bottom level of primer which i had to sand off myself. I resprayed it Fiesta Red but I didn't do a good job of sanding (the gloss paint seemed to show up a multitude of sins) and i'll be honest - looks like crap. Thankfully it was a bass i wasn't using so i may have another crack this year. If you love the bass get it done properly
12.
Hi, Sorry to ask, but is the price being asked £650 or £800?
£650

14. Bump... Down to £800. Having trouble uploading pics on here but can send them via email.
15. For sale is my Bergantino CN212 with a padded sleeve. Bought from new in Jan '14 from Bass Direct... gigged around a dozen times and used in about 15 rehearsals in a loud punk band. I'm selling because i've had a change in personal circumstances and could do with the money - very disappointed to see this go... It's an amazing cab. Easy to lug about, small stage footprint, I've always been complimented on the sound of the thing. In perfect working condition, great cosmetically too (save a couple of marks on the back of the cab and on the metal corners on the underside). Collection only please, I am based in Didcot, South Oxfordshire, OX11. Also would be willing to delivery myself for petrol costs. Cash on collection/delivery preferred, other payment methods up for discussion (have always dealt on here in cash - personal preference) Any questions? Please let me know. Joe
16. For home practise i use an Ashdown LB30 into an Ashdown MiBass 1x12... Perfect.
