1. I've now seen the 2 Musicman instruments advertised on the Bass Players Market UK facebook page (for £700 each) and on eBay (for £850 each). Why do you describe the Sterling on the Basschat advert to be "immaculate" and "looked after impeccably" whereas on eBay you say "There are some dings on the body. This is reflected in the very low Buy It Now price"? CB
2. Your Sterling does appear to be in excellent condition (EDIT: now that I've seen the eBay ad, I'm not convinced), however, I think you are hindering your chance of selling it by describing the Stingray also to be in excellent condition overall and in excellent cosmetic condition. You've been honest elsewhere in the post, but these statements undermine the credibility of the entire ad. I bought a Bongo from a forum member. It was 10 years old and with only a couple of marks that I need to wear glasses to see. That is what I'd call excellent condition. Personally, I think the Stingray is in poor condition for its age. Just my opinion and I'm genuinely trying to help you re the Sterling because I have one myself and love them. CB
3. I have two of these and can assure everyone they are absolutely fabulous instruments. Great for travel, stay in tune for ever, easy to wear for hours, immune to weather, consistent sounding all over the range and have a fatter low end than you've ever heard. A mad giveaway price too! GLWTS. If it doesn't sell at this price I will eat my hat (pictured). CB
4.
Many thanks, I really wanted a trade but this is tempting.
I'm sure they would trade. They do sell second hand instruments. And I imagine your p-bass would be regarded as an easier sale. CB
5. I happened to spot this Musicmaster for sale in Guitar Guitar Glasgow. Caught my eye as I owned a white one back in the day. You could get them to send it down to a store nearer to you. Hope this helps. http://m.guitarguitar.co.uk/Product/PX151121290907002 CB
6. Agreed - I have the exact same bass in turquoise and love it. CB
7. They really are like having the originals. The sound is sll there. And ALL the controls. When I played them and saw the attention to detail and build quality I was stunned tgat in 2015 we can buy something which is so exclusive but so UNDERpriced. Compare a JP-08 at £299 with one of your more expensive effects pedals.... CB
8. This turned into my kinda evening! :-) CB
9. Ah no worries - they just looked unfamiliar to me, since my 74 J-bass is kitted out like yours. Thx. CB
10. Here's a better pic. I think the bass is fine, however, I just don't think the tuners are original, that's all. https://www.flickr.com/photos/39013950@N08/shares/7Z3PTJ CB
11. Hi Discreet - yes exactly - what you've posted is exactly what I would expect on a 70s P bass. The bass in the advert, however, has shorter (and chromed) tuners like I'd expect on a later model. CB
From what I can see they are correct. 70s P Basses don't have the very long 'Kluson'-type tuners. This is my 76P headstock, it's totally original.
12. When I looked at this, the headstock didn't look quite right. I realised it was the fact that it has the shorter stem chrome tuners rather than the longer nickel plated tuners I'd expect in this era. Am I mistaken? Wouldn't be surprising as I'm no expert. 13. Hi njoha - I left a PM for you yesterday evening. Happy to buy within the UK. CB

15. I've noticed a few people asking about where to get the Markbass 12v PSU - as supplied with Super Synth, Super Booster etc. You can source the PSU in the UK from Real Electronics (the retail company recommended to me by the MarkBass UK distributors) for £18.60 inc UK next day delivery. NOTE: it doesn't come with the slide-in UK plug piece. Order separately from them if you need it. Contact 0845 230 7737 and ask for Kirsty. I'm not connected in any way with this company - just used them last week for this very reason. Well impressed with their competent, friendly and speedy service. Hope this helps someone. CB
16. I love my Super Synth. They really are great, and the PC/Mac app for tweaking patches is VERY easy to use. Just to help with your sale (ref power supply)... Assuming that it's the original Markbass 12V power supply - the Euro plug piece slides out. You can then either use a standard "figure 8" power lead with a UK plug or you can replace with the UK plug piece (without replacing the entire unit). You can source this part in the UK from Real Electronics (the retail company recommended by MarkBass UK distributor). This part is only a couple of pounds and Real Electronics are EXTREMELY quick to deliver. Please note that Real Electronics can also supply the Markbass PSU for £18.60 inc UK next day delivery - but this doesn't come with the actual plug piece. Contact them at 0845 230 7737 and ask for Kirsty. Hope this helps. GLWTS! CB I'm not connected in any way with this company - just used them last week for this very reason.
17. I just bought a Teenage Engineering PO-12 Rhythm Synth from Mike. All Basschat purchases should be like this. Communication and speed of delivery could not be improved upon in any way. Thanks Mike! CB
18. I prefer the look of a standard 4001/4003 myself.....but I liked his tasteful playing. And his tone. CB
19. Lionel was fantastic!!! As is Paul Weller. Hopefully the fact that these real musicians are performing so well tonight will start to educate the younger viewers about what a fraud Kanye West is. CB
20. What do folk think of the Lemmy documentary that was on telly...specifically where he starts boasting about "banging" (as he puts it) all the other band members' wives/girlfriends? Personally, I rolled my eyes and yawned as he dropped off the credibility scale quicker than Kanye West singing Bohemian Rhapsody whilst driving a tan Austin Allegro. EDIT: Having just watched Ace of Spades at Glasto, I'd like to balance the above by saying "fair play" to Lemmy for that. It certainly beats some of the other crap we've heard this year. CB
21. I remember Bakithi Khumalo rocking my world when this album first came out. I thought to myself that it must be such an advantage for a bassist to have a drummer as a brother. CB
22. Lemmy is not a bassist. He's a 4 string guitarist. Hey ho, it takes all sorts. CB
23. Just received my Markbass Super Booster. Well packaged. And a nice guy. Thanks Ryan! CB
24. Just bought a Markbass Super Synth off Nick. I'd only just hit the PayPal 'Pay' button and there it was sitting at my door :-) Nice one Nick. Thanks for being a great BC-er. CB
