1. I don't think it matters what you sight-read, so long as you sight-read something. And practising something outside of your natural comfort zone can only be good; you never know what ideas it might inspire.
2. Never been a huge Elvis fan, but just listened to the track. Man, I'd love to be able to play that! I reckon even on electric that'd sound amazing!
3. If the item is in Ramsgate, Kent, why is the listing in Spanish? (It's been a long week and I'm not very bright!)
4.
I have this amazing trick where I take a really nice bass and amp, and make it sound exactly like a steel dustbin full of spanners falling down the stairs.
Coke ------------------>Screen
5. Anyone want a box of assorted cables & stuff? £25 for the lot, posted? 6. Got a promotion at work recently, and at the same time, but unrelated, I had decided I needed to have a GearClear. Now, apart from my instruments and MarkBass combo, pretty much everything I used was Behringer. I absolutely will not slate Behringer; the gear I bought, mostly second/third hand, worked reliably every day. It did what I wanted it to do and allowed me to experiment with different signal chain configurations without breaking the bank. I even had a couple of jam sessions with a mate from work (first time ever!) and he was impressed with the sounds I was getting. But, times change. I've sold pretty much everything (except instruments and the MarkBass beastie!). I got rid of mixers, an active DI box, a tuner, my Boss multi-effects unit has also gone, and after asking for some opinions from you wonderful people and trawling old threads on here, I've replaced it all with an Ashdown Perfect Ten combo and a Korg Pitchblack tuner. The Ashdown combo will be a helluva lot easier to take to impromptu jams at friends' homes, and since it accepts an input from an MP3 player or similar, I can still play along/learn new stuff. [1] I'm keeping the CMD103H though for "special occasions", eg. when the neighbours are away! [2] Anyhooo, the main difference I've noticed is in the sound of my bass. Whether it's down to vastly simplifying the signal chain, or "upgrading" to better gear, or a combination of both, I don't know. But the difference is amazing! I can hear the instrument and what I'm doing with it, rather than the equipment I'm playing it through. Hot Tub is happy! [1] The only piece of Behringer kit I've kept is the BDI21 amp modelling DI pedal. I rate that as a truly exceptional little gadget for the money! [2] The 103 combo will be used in anger in a couple of weeks time. It's Mrs HT's 40th birthday, and I'm gonna do 3 or 4 songs with the band. We're rehearsing next week. First time ever (and I'm older than most Time Lords!!!).
7. Pitchblack has been ordered! Thanks for all advice/comments!
8. Thanks for that. It certainly seems to get some very good reviews. Think I feel some GAS coming on....
9. I'm interested in the Korg Pitchblack - anyone using one? Good/bad/indifferent? Or any other recommendations? It's got to be a pedal and not rackmount.
10. Just a quick suggestion - you may want to give some idea of how much you're after for it.
11. It's an individual thing. Some people really struggle, some have no problems. Personally I found it really quite easy, and now play both comfortably. Try as many as you can, as variations in string spacing seems to be the key to finding the right instrument.
12. Have emailed "Subscriptions" regarding missing issue - no response. This is not looking good.
13. bluesparky - Many thanks! Much appreciated!
14. Does anyone have the notation for this? Even something you could scan and email to me? Or even the old fashioned way - post it to me, I'll copy it and fire it back to ya same day? Many thanks!
15. I have the Behringer rack unit (BTR2000 I think?), and it's been reliable and accurate. I used it to set up the intonation on both my 4 and 5 string instruments and was VERY happy with the results. In everyday use it does what it says on the tin. But.... it's Behringer Oh, and I agree with the earlier comment about the low B not tracking, but I always tune that from the 5th/7th fret harmonic from the E.
16. Sorry, don't mean to hijack, but that Joss Stone version is superb!!!
17. Creamy. And - I don't know the word for it - "A bucket of wet fish being emptied onto a cold stone floor." Edit - Probably "slap".
18. Just a suggestion:
19. Saw current issue in WHSmith's in Leamington over a week ago. My subscription copy STILL hasn't been delivered. Not impressed.
20. Been doing Neil Young's Heart Of Gold - gawd it's a lovely song! Also Metallica's Nothing Else Matters - dead easy and very satisfying. Is it just me, or is it "normal" to really love playing something which involves no effort or challenge whatsoever? What does it for you?
21. I have BGM on subscription and I think it's improving (almost) every month. I enjoy it. I'm afraid I also buy BP (almost) every month, and that seems to be deteriorating at the same rate. I guess it's like self-harming: I know I shouldn't do it, but nothing else gives me the same buzz.
22. I usually call mine "Awkward B@st@rd." Sometimes just "A. B@st@rd." Often accurate, if a touch harsh.
23. Ooooh, good to know - thanks for that!
24. As per the title really.... any thoughts/experiences on this little gizmo?
25. As per title really.... opinions?
