1. It was 30 (ish) years ago. I was a teenager. John McCoy was (is) god. Simples. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMDHMuj2OmA This, ladies and gentlemen, is rock 'n' roll. This is music with emotion. This is music with guts. Greenday? Coldplay? U2? Nickleback? Oh, please. THIS is music. Because it has FEELING*. *Feeling:- Alien concept to anyone who listens to (or plays) jazz, or anything written after 1976,

Volume Pedal
the standard seems to be earnie ball, but there are loads of cheap plastic passive volume pedals around. Can't you use your knob?
<sigh> You just line 'em up, don't you? Aksherly, I like to adjust volume while I'm playing. Obviously there's hard and soft picking/plucking, but I also like to have my foot on the throttle. As it were. I guess what I really need to know is: Are any of the passive pedals bass-specific, or will they work with anything?

Volume Pedal

Well, having done away with my ME50B because "I don't use it", I've now discovered that the one thing I did use - all the freakin' time! - was the volume pedal! So, can anyone recommend me a nice, smooth, preferably passive, volume pedal?
4.
Definitely very interested if we can find a way of getting it to Bristol
It's not heavy, but I reckon it's the size which will dictate the cost. I'll find out and let you know.
5. +1 Top chap, exceptional shop. It's only about half a mile from my house. Anyone going there, pop me a pm and I'll get the kettle on!
6. Short answer: Haven't a clue! It'll be Thursday before I can box it up and get it to a post office for a cost. Whatever it is, I'd get a cost and charge that only. Where are you?
7. Immaculate LD Systems 2U rackbag up for grabs. It's the 2U version of this one. Immaculate condition, as new. Would prefer collection from Leamington Spa, or can deliver somewhere mutually suitable around Warwickshire (my job takes me around the county).
8. OK you know what it is and what it does. If not, it's here. Bought mine off a nice chap on here about a year ago. Home use only - never been gigged by me or him. It's immaculate. No box though, and I printed out the owners' manual myself. Now doing this for £80 collected (or meet somewhere), or £90 delivered UK mainland. Would prefer collection from Leamington Spa, or free delivery around Warwickshire (my job takes me around the county), or can meet somewhere suitable. Cash on collection or PayPal to Mrs HT's account I will also throw in a power supply and compressor/bank-switch pedal, both of which I bought separately specifically for the Boss unit. Note - the power supply and pedal are NOT Boss, but work perfectly well with the ME50B unit. Bottom line is, I don't use it. Simples. I need a simple preamp, that's all.
9. I had the exact same problem a few months back. Tracked it down to the little clip-on connector for the battery. Turned out one of the terminals on the connector had become loose. I removed the battery, and very gently, tightened the terminal with a small pair of pliers. Pop the battery back in, problem solved.
10.
RBI? Wossat?
11. RBI for under £100 would cook my noodle!
12. Outstanding business to deal with! Another order at an excellent price, delivered in 24hrs! Fantastic outfit, you won't be disappointed!
13.
That's interesting. I use Elixirs and have had the same set on my fretted for over a year and they how no signs of flaking whatsoever (though I never use a pick) and still sound fresh.
The Nexuses (or is that Nexi?) sound absolutely fine. They're just looking gawd-awful!
14. I guess mine is probably the Status Quo version of "Safety Dance". Closely followed by Girls Aloud's "Walk This Way". What's yours?
15. Use a pick for "With Or Without You" and "Not Fragile", but everything else, general noodling, is all 2 or 3 fingers.
16. I fitted a set of Rotosound Nexus strings to my 5-string bass on June 10th - so about two and a half months ago - and a quick calculation shows that they've got around 180hrs playing time on them. And the coating's coming off! The E string has a two inch stretch which is almost pure silver now around where I pluck, and the others are going the same way. I think I've got a pretty light touch. Is it normal for the coating to wear so quickly???
17. John McCoy. Massive stage presence, massive sound. I was just a teenager and I thought, "Oh my god I have GOT to get me one of those!"
18.
It's one of those things which was so much mystery around it that some players think it's complicated. It's only 1 screw to adjust after all When I set up a bass I deliberately set all the saddles flat so that I creep up on the intonation by degree. This also puts the bend in the string behind the saddle and not in front of it. I also compare the open string against the 12th fret note, not against the harmonic which gives a false reading.
Pretty much exactly what I did. Probably more luck than judgement, but it seemed like common sense.
19. I fitted a new set of RotoSound Nexus strings a couple of months back. That in itself was a revelation! However, I've been progressively less happy with the "accuracy" of notes around and above 5th position, despite having my tuner on its most accurate range setting and being absolutely spot on for the open strings. Some notes, I'm not sure how to describe this, just don't seem to "fit right". Time, I thought, to have a look at intonation. I had a read of various books and did a bit of research, and despite some of the horror stories I'd heard, it seemed pretty straightforward. Straightforward, I'm happy to say, is a gross overstatement! It's an absolute piece of p!ss stroll in the park! Half an hour to set up my 5-string from start to finish! And the difference is amazing! Suddenly it sounds accurate, precise, and... well... beautiful! I guess the deterioration must be pretty gradual, exacerbated no doubt by the new strings, but I'm amazed that I could tolerate it at all. Seriously, it's like a new instrument, and so incredibly easy to do! Happy Hot Tub just wanted to share!
20. Goldy Lookin' Bass? Sorry. Coat ---> door.
21. Is this the CMD103H? If so I can vouch for it. In a word: Awesome!
