1. Got my Spector mods ready on friday-saturday night.
2. Oh, nothing special. Just a sort of prototype I made, 15mm pine and/or spruce and 12mm birch plywood, two Eminence Kappa 15A 8 Ohm speakers, 220-230 liters net volume, triangle ports 14cmx14cm length somewhere around 100 mm, flared one end. Tuned somewhere near 50 Hz so it handles 220-250W nicely I think. I was about the get rid of it and make few 1x12" cabs with "premium" speakers but other members of our trio wants the cabinet back so I have to take it back. Have to finish it first, actually working on it at the moment. More or less "Kappa15A Larger Vented Cab, Full Range PA or Bass Guitar" cabinet design from Eminence. Two 1x15" cabs would be better, this cab is ok as long as I don't have to take it anywhere with me!
3. Spector Legend Classic 5 made in Korea with some minor mods 'cause why not? It's just wood.
4. Nothing special... Big, ugly, loud. Like my bass rig!
5. Just another cabinet for Eminence basslite C2515 4 Ohm. Aprox 85 litres, should weight about 20 kg when ready. http://www.sivuvau.nu/1x15_cabinet/kaappi_ulko.jpg Inside quite messy and wood going from here to there. Totally wrong kind of structure according to Hi-Fi speaker "bibles". http://www.sivuvau.nu/1x15_cabinet/kaappi_sis1.jpg I will add 4 piezos with on/off switches in some point, lot of things to do before that though. (tolex, handles, paint....)
6. Hi! Nice "road ready" cabinets.
7. Tried once, "Bass Clef Master" with average of 1.98 seconds. Could (should) do better I think...
8. After using ZOG set in 4-string, I bought D'addario string with these gauges to my 34" scale 5-string. G - .040 - 15,28 kg (gauge - string tension) D - .055 - 15,74 kg A - .075 - 17,24 kg E - .105 - 18,28 kg B - .145 - 18,82 kg I like the feel of the strings and as few my friends have tried the bass, they have been wondering how come they haven't ever think strings this way. Had few minor problems at the beginning to get used to the set but now I wont change back to ready sets with horribly floppy, bad sounding B-string.
9. Hmmm... Well this video is from this spring and I will not do any gigs with this band anymore. I had enough, long story with easy solution (I quit), but sometimes things just goes how they goes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aK4v4HlnsHo
10. Last night I only used KORG DT-10 tuner. I have to say it was somehow relaxing.
11. It looks like a SX bass to me, copy of Tune.
12.
- Warwick Fortress One 5
Wow!!! Nice!!! Welcome! Maybe I will find one for myself. The best looking Warwick ever made!
13. I have a 1x18" DIY cab, it's big, like 210 litres, weights a LOT (MDF) and it sounds...? Well it moves air and hums low frequencies and it's ok as a sub if you have power to drive it, but as a single cabinet it is useless. I like to use it with 4x10 cab, because it gives something extra. It has a RCF element on it, and I am planning to make smaller, like 130 litres cabinet for it. I have a gig tomorrow, well today actually, and I will not take 1x18" with me. It's big and ugly and weights more than my back can handle.
14. Small is beautiful! DT-10 first, because it has buffer, then to M80 where signal is splitted. Clean sound from DI to mixing console, and other to distortion fx and to amp. Microphone in front of the cab is SM57, thinking of buying a AKG D112 though. edit: ooops!
15. Try RAT or You Dirty Rat, with no modifications they are quite brutal. I do have M80, but I think the distortion is not that good, more likely one sound wonder and I don't like it. Same and better can be done with RAT. I do use M80, but it only sends the clean sound to mixing console.
16. Older the better!? I really don't like the metallic sound of new strings but I hate the feel of flatwound or nylon strings. I think I change strings only if I have to. If I broke one string, I change them all or if one string starts to sound different than others, again I change them all. It could be months but more likely years. I prefer D'Addario XL nickel wound strings, and as I was inspired by ZOG set I now use: G - .040 - 15,28 kg D - .055 - 15,74 kg A - .075 - 17,24 kg E - .105 - 18,28 kg B - .145 - 18,82 kg I like the feel of this set, the biggest string is allso stiffest. Caused some problems at the beginning, but I really don't want to use anything else at the moment. EB and DR Lo-Riders are ok too, I really don't care what the brand is, feel is everything. Elixir strings are not for me.
17. Hi! I am a some sort of bass player from Finland. I think I have owned a bass something like 20 years or something, but I must say that I haven't been allways very active what comes to playing. Currently I am using 5-string headless bass but I do have few other "normal" basses, from Ibanez I have models SR910MOL and ATK600LBU, and allso semi-Fender fretless p-bass. Amp that I am using is SWR SM-400 and cabs that I have are Hartke 4x10" TP, 1x15" DIY and 1x18" DIY. Mainly I play rock, but I do like to play pop new and old, (excellent bass lines in many annoying songs!) blues, jazz, soul, whatever!
18.
Great! I checked out your youtube vids and you guys certainly do Rock and Roll. Interesting bass, is it a Status?
Nope. It is hand made in Finland, not by me, but one very skilled builder. Allmost everything is made by him, great bass, and even our cat loves it! http://www.sivuvau.nu/MPU5/10042011113.jpg
19. Morjens! Joo, saattaahan joitain Suomalaisia joskus linjoilla olla... Hi everybody! I joined today, and yes I am a Finn and a bass player. So at least one Finnish member with little bit of activity.
