Blummin' 'eck! That sounds like a bit of a palaver — I just have the SY-1 between my tuner & (always on) compresser on my board and kick it in for that song - it has level controls to mix the synth in with the bass.

I owned a C9 for about a week but sold it on as it didn't trigger well for me. I've tried several pedals to get an organ sound from my bass, however the only one that has worked well enough to earn a place on my pedalboard is the Boss SY-1. Here's a video where I'm doubling the bass line from my black JMJ Mustang bass with organ from the SY-1. The SY-1 has a little switch on the back to switch it between guitar or bass.

The tuner placement is a dead givaway. Jens Ritter is MDP's alter ego.

I did consider acetone but didn't want to risk it eating anything more than the rubbery coating. The other thing I had lined up to try if the surgical spirit didn't work was lighter fluid.

Looks like a good start for a relic project

When I got my Fender Rumble 40 home after buying it secondhand as part of a bundle including a bass, the first thing I noticed was that the knobs were unpleasantly sticky which did not create a great first impression of an otherwise great amp. I decided that my microcube better fits my needs for a practice amp, so the rumble is now on reverb. I really don't want the new owner to feel ookie every time they adjust the settings so the stickyness had to go. I appears that the cream knobs on the amp were given a rubberised coating which has broken down causing the stickyness. I thought about trying acetone (nail polish remover) to get this off, but was concerned that this might attact the actual plastic of the knob. I figured that surgical spirit might work so bought a small bottle (£2.19 from superdrug). Wearing latex gloves, I soaked the knobs in a ramekin filled with surgical spirit for 10 minutes, then scrubbed each one with a spare toothbrush and rubbed the surface with kitchen towel. The result is that all of the sticky rubbery gunk has now gone, the knobs are no longer sticky, and importantly this hasn't changed the appearance of the knobs.

The photos give no useful information. If the relief appears to be set correctly and it still seems wrong, I would take it to a trusted luthier and ask for a diagnosis. In my case that would probably be Martin or John at the Gallery in Camden.
