  7. I'm not going to go to the trouble of putting just the chorus through the send/return as I only use it to add some depth to the sound when the SY-1 is used to emulate an organ doubling the bass. I hadn't considered the difference in levels before asking the question, so I will take on board (no pun intended) what Bill said, and as I am not using rack fx requiring a line level input, I will continue to put the pedals between the bass and the amp input.
  8. Thanks, that's good to know. I'll continue to run the pedalboard into the amp's input.

  10. I have an Ashdown ABM600 evo iv which is easily the best amp I have owned. I also use a pedalboard with a bunch of boss compact pedals. Until now I have always used two cables: one from the bass to the pedalboard, and one from the pedalboard to the amp input. When setting up last night it occurred to me that maybe I should be using the fx send/return instead. I'll pack an extra cable for the next rehearsal to try this, but I was wondering what difference this might make to the sound and how many people use the send/return on their amps, or have tried it and gone back to running the pedals into the amp's input?

  15. My JMJ mustangs are pretty much my perfect bass; I have three of them, two blue and one black. I wasn't initially keen on the roadworn finish on the body but it has grown on me, however I might strip down one of the blue ones and get it refinished in nitro in a custom colour possibly with a light relic job. Not sure what colour to go for though, perhaps something unusual that makes it unique.
  16. I have a couple of basses with 'almost rosewood' looking fingerboards: one pau ferro, and the other indian laurel, both are a fair bit lighter than the nice dark rosewood boards on other basses I have. I'd like to darken them to look a bit more like brazillian rosewood. Usually an application of lemon (or mineral) oil can improve the appearance of a pale/dry rosewood board, but this was not as sucessful on pau ferro or indian laurel when I tried it. I've looked up info on this and found various conflicting instructions. It looks like the way to do this is to clean the board with naptha and apply a good coat of either wood dye, leather dye, or a mixure of lemon/mineral oil and either wood or leather dye. various products are mentioned, but there doesn't seem to be any concensus. I've seen the montypresso wax, but on the videos I've seen, it doesn't really seem to work as well as I would want it to. Who here has actually done this and can recommend any specific products and a method?

  22. In the heart of London’s bustling financial district, Tarquin toils away, gazing out of his office window at the birds soaring freely. Envious of their liberty, he yearns to become a pigeon. In an unexpected twist, he transforms into a colossal 12-foot pigeon—ironically, one that remains grounded. Now, with wings too heavy to lift, he continues his daily grind, navigating the corporate world as an oversized avian. lyrics:
