  1. Hot Pink is definitely the best colour for these, and thats reflected in it being double the price of a candy apple red one.
  2. moog = mogue (rhymes with vogue) hotone = hot tone joyo = joe yo! suhr = sir mooer = moore (as in patrick moore) levys = lev ees takamine = takka meenay zemaitis = zem ai tis godin = go dane
  3. I have the flamed maple one. I use status hotwire medium scale flats on it. I believe most have a rosewood fingerboard and bridge saddles, but some like mine have ebony which was a bonus.
  4. Unburdon yourself here with your bass confessions I had owned my first Fender for about twenty years before I was brave enough to adjust the truss rod.
  5. I have several Comfort strapps which are hands down the most comfy of all the straps I have owned or tried https://thebassgallery.com/collections/straps/products/comfort-strapp-pro-bass
  6. It seems a lot of effort went into customising a bland sub-£100 bass to make it really dumb and ugly looking, and less convenient to use. Any length saved at the headstock end has more than been compensated for by the added bulk at the butt end. Might have nominal value as Firewood.
  7. There is photographic evidence that the moon landings were faked:
  8. My original 1996 Hohner B2A has a red Led which lights up when the active circuit is engaged. Yes it was cool in the 80s. Not so much in 2022
  9. Don't kill anyone who doesn't deserve to be killed.
  10. I think you'll find this is a hohner, not a hofner
  11. Ouch! I have a set of the Galli-made Kala u-bass strings which I believe have the same construction as these. I'll be sure to take extra care if I ever have to temporarily take them off my u-bass .
  12. If its the kind of gig where wives and girlfriends are welcome, always remember its an either/or situation never invite both.
  13. Whatever it is, its a double-ended version.
  14. I wonder whether anyone has bought a Fender JMJ mustang due to being a big fan of Mr Meldal Johnsen? Everyone on here that has one seems to have bought it simply as its a great playing and sounding bass, and the name on the back of the headstock is largely irrelevant - although it was due to JMJ's input into the spec that made it such a nice bass.
  15. Maybe it made his hair fall out so he had to get a syrup.
  16. If you think bolt-on necks are bad for this you want to have a look at non-cutaway acoustic guitars
  17. No player is 'endorsed' The artist endorses the product of the company - not the other way around. The question should be 'who has endorsed products of the most companies?'
  18. I only managed about thirty seconds before the autotune annoyed me enough to turn it off.
  19. Before it was delivered I noticed that the recipient had added a note to the tracking site to tell the driver to leave it in the porch, which to me sounded like there wouldn’t be anyone home during the day. I’ve not heard anything from the recipient, so hopefully everything is okay.
  20. I sold an acoustic guitar on reverb a couple of days ago so I parcelled it up the next day. It is in a snug fitting case but I didn't have a suitable cardboard box so I cut down an epiphone thunderbird box to parcel it up with lots of padding and parcel tape. The box has a thick end where the body goes and a thin end where the headstock is. I also wrote 'TOP' with an arrow pointing up on the thin end on both sides. On the tracking app it shows as delivered with photographic proof, but as you can see from the printing on the box it has been left in the recipient's porch thin-end down. I think it should be okay though - as long as no scrotes walk past and nick it.
  21. I attended Laurence's bass class on Saturdays at Goldsmiths around 1979 when I was an eager 16 year old metalhead with a cheap jazz bass copy. I used to look forward to the class all week. I still have my copy of "Electric bass Guitar - A complete guide" in which Laurence corrected an incorrectly printed diagram in biro. So sorry to hear about his current health issues.
  22. Life's too short to think about what you don't like. I don't mind Conway Twitty - after all he did co-write and record the original version of 'It's Only Make Believe'
  23. I have a couple of inexpensive PJ basses with upgraded electronics. One has the Fender Yosemite set with greasebucket circuit and the other has EMG-X PJs & BTC system. Both basses sound great and have a good range of tones available.
  24. If you view the bids on the listing you will see that the buyer paid an additional £70 for expedited delivery to the USA. Ouch! No way to give the buyer a heads-up though: private listing - bidder identity protected
