1. I think I would have something made. Plus some very nifty amp setup etc. Oh and a lot more lessons.
2. You can come round and play my black ibanez if you like?
3. I really like the look of this!
4.
I've been lusting over this for aaaaaaaaages... http://www.guitarrez.com/inventory/ibanezb...bzbtb575fm.html
I like Ibanez. I did go and look at the fourstring version of this as I liked the shape/look of it. (It must be said that I didnt look at a black one) However, it was really heavy, I was surprised! Nice bass none the less.
5. talk to me at the end of the month!
6.
this is in the january issue? i might need to check this out...
certainly was.
7. Just wondering if anyone else tried this for the first time after reading the set up article in BGM. I tried it and its worked out very well. Im really pleased. Makes a huge difference with my left hand now not getting so tired (cue the jokes) If you havent tried it, it is well worth the read. Obviously, all you pros have been sorting your basses out for a while, so this isnt aimed at you! Cheers Matt
8. Looks good. Happy playing!
9. WPD. There's some good advice in some of those answers. I think that if you were to pick and chose who you did the work for you'd be pretty happy with making some decent beer(sic!) money. The man was right about disposables tho, dont forget those costs as well as power, 'cos it all adds up. How many hours did it take you to do your own basses? I suppose its worth pointing out the blindingly obvious to some people that you are not providing them with a custom hand built bass as well! Otherwise, I think you'll be busy! Cheers Matt
10.
DONE!!!
Dude, im going to buy a cheap P and send it to you so that you make it look that good! I reckon theres a market on here for you! brilliant!
11. Hmmm. Remember to practise scales and arpeggios Learn to improvise Attempt to play in public Theres lots of non bass related stuff!
12. Hi All. many many thanks for all your input. Some great ideas there and I must admit the idea of a bass that she can grow into may well be the better buy. Price depending of course. Cheers every one Matt
13. I've been teaching the very little I know playing bass to my partners daughter and she is loving it. She has learnt a couple of very easy songs. She is 11. Does any one have any suggestions for a suitable smaller bass which would be good for her to learn on as she is finding my bass a bit big right now. Thanks in advance Math
14.
I'd also go along with lefty's suggestion of Guitarpro as it is also a very useful tool for learning songs from already available GP files on the net as well as knocking up your own. It's gone up in price though, I recently bought vs 5 and with the poor euro/pound exchange rate it was nearer £60 in the end.
THanks kevB I think there is a free tial thing, so will have a look. thanks very much Matt
15.
Have a look here, http://www.forte-notation.eu/en/index.htm two versions one free one costs ya, I downloaded the free one just to try, and think its great. the program allows you to compose your own music, and then listen to it in any instrument you so desire. eg: compose a bit of music and then select, electric bass, finger style, or upright bass, acoustic bass, whatever. There is a tutorial on how to use it but I just blundered around until I worked it out, I'm lazy like that... Try it,... you will lose nothing. !
thanks very much for that , I'll give it a go. Thanks to everyone for their input! Matt
16.
No, you can't. If you create a profile (free) you can save them to your site profile to load up later, or share with other JamStudio users. There is a payed version available which has more features, not 100% sure what they are though.
Ah well! I find this pretty easy to use, so am happy, thanks for the tip. Cheers Matt
17.
I was just about to post pretty much exactly the same thing, so... er... +1!
As above, thansk very much
18.
Band in a Box may be useful. Its not great but as a sketch pad, it can be quite effective in allowing you to put in chord sequences and hearing them with different feels. The samples are weak and the rock stuff particularly poor but, as I said, as a sketch pad, it has merit.
Thanks Bilbo.
