SOLD

I had the bubinga version of this...the sound is just sick its so perfect.. those pickups are intense..full, fat sound.. Someone will really enjoy this... GLWS!!!
2. The max out is on 9..10, however its not picking up at all until at 8 or so ... which seemed quite low to me. I am voicing max 4" away from the tip of the mike, min 1" (when its too close). The volume after its been recorded is not very high - it only comes up when I punch in "normalise" and "leveler" in Audacity.
3. have tried on both inst and line and no difference I can hear or see! .... have located effects -> normalize and leveler in audacity - sounding much better/fuller after these are applied!
4. Thanks again guys, much appreciated.
5. Thanks guys, extremely helpful! ... I am wondering in instead of sticking something else in the chain (between mike and USB interface) to make the mike "hotter" (eg: a pre-amp like the "PreSonus" mentioned), if it might make more sense to go a few quid up and get a small mixer that would replace the Focusrite USB interface by virtue of having both inbuilt preamp plus USB interface?
6. Hi all, I got some new recording gear for recording some screencasts. I have an issue and want to know if its standard or I should be returning... Excuse the newbie comments - its the first voice equipment of this type I've purchased... I got this setup: Rode procaster mike: http://www.thomann.de/ie/rode_procaster.htm Focusrite XLR -> USB http://www.thomann.de/ie/focusrite_scarlett_2i2.htm The issue is this ... I plug the mike into the box, have gain turned to zero, and start talking. No more than 1..2 inches away from the top of the mike, the voice does not start to register until the gain knob on the Focusrite is at at least 3pm, and does not come through with any reasonable volume, until I have reached almost 5:30pm (ie, on a scale of 1..10, voice only starts to kick in the green light and become audible at say 8.5/9, and becomes reasonable at 9..10) ... but of course at 10, its just hitting into red ... no I have it seems almost no "play" ... By comparison... if I used my bass head/amp in this manner, I would expect to have sound on the gain from just after the 6pm (1) mark... ie: almost instant.... Is this normal or something wrong you think? ... thanks guys, Allen.
7. Ok! ... lets do it ... PARTY TIME !! Thomann 22 Double Bass unboxing ... (Click photos for bigger size!) The DB was delivered in a MASSIVE wedge shaped box that was taped down, then had those plastic tension straps around it, and finally a wrap around the middle with black plastic. Inside the box, the DB was wrapped in paper Inside the paper (this is exciting!), the DB itself was sitting in the case I had ordered with it Once I got that out of the box, "Mr Odo" decided it would be a nice comfy place to spend the morning.... Lets unzip this baby! The DB came with some no-name strings attached, and the bridge safely cradled in bubble-wrap, tucked under the end-pin thingy First things first, peer inside and see if the sound-post is in place ... yea! .... it survived the trip Next job, take out the bridge and see about fitting it... Thomann have marked the left/right position of the feet of the bridge, and the position on the bass top table where the feet should go the string grooves are also naturally cut and ready to accept the strings... really helpful! I noticed that the end-pin was, well, pointy! ... no rubber end ... after some searching I found it was loose in the box and had rolled away.. So, using the sting Winder Gareth Hughes had advised me to get, I set about tightening up the strings they sent it with on to see how it worked ... I do have new Evah Weich strings but will fit them another day so I can compare even the cheapies! so here we go, all set up and ready to go, and a few shots of the detail of the DB itself for those interested. So there we go! .... best Christmas present to myself EVAH! .... overall, really good ordering experience with Thomann, incredible value, very happy, and sincere thanks to Gareth Hughes for introducing me to this model and allowing me to try out his first! .... *highly recommended* to all dipping their toes in the DB pool ! Happy Crimple everyone!
8. Unfortunately I'm up country at the moment so may be the wee hours or (shudder) tomorrow before I get to unwrap :/ ..still! ..NDBD!!!
9. I placed an order ten days ago for a Thomann 22 DB ... and then put it out of my head not expecting it until after Crimbo ... just got a photo emailed from her indoors ... looksee whats waiting for me later ! will update when I unbox

11. I have lusted after these for a while, but in a five string ... Its an insanly beautiful instrument to play..everything is just right about it... Complete bargain to whoever buys!
12. Hi Sean, I was with Gareth Hughes recently for a lesson (well recommended btw) .. he has a Thomann 22 and it both sounded and played really really nicely. He has his now a couple of years and remains very happy with it .. I am finalising the pennies and ordering one soon!
13. Ditto on the carbon fibre top model yita bow ..prev teacher much approved for the price.
14. I've been eyeing these: http://www.caswells-strings.co.uk/shop/stools-transport/1571-studio-stool.html and these, fold-able, very adjustable... http://www.thomann.de/ie/millenium_st90.htm
15.
So having looked into this a bit more I've found this same DB sold on BC earlier in the year ...... http://basschat.co.u...-student-model/ With this in mind, does it still seem a reasonable price? Would the work described have been required and affect the price that much?
Yes I believe it does. The original price was extremely fair. The new price (ie: current owner) seems to reflect a set-up by a respected luthier, adjustable bridge, neck work to make it more comfortable to play, and includes a pickup should you wish to plug in ... seems well worth a look to me (oh, and it has hat-pegs! ... and patchwork mojo! )
16. Great starter bass...if I were closer I'd have it!
17. On fairness to the seller if you can do a deal go for it, might take me longer to arrange things..so feel free!
