  1. Regularly travel from Glasgow to Edinburgh on the train with bass in original hard case and haven't experienced any grief whatsomenever.
  2. Agree with final sentence. Our guitarer is spuriously ineffectual.
  3. Yep, Chas. Foulds, down Irongate.
  4. Agree with this comment. It seems that if they are 'money-driven', more gigs might be the 'carrot', but if they are not really into the music your band plays, or/and if they just can't be bothered to put more effort in (for whatever reason(s)), nothing is likely to change, unless open, honest discussion leads to a solution to a perceived problem on their part, that until now, you are unaware of. Good luck Mike, it might be a case of flogging a dead horse otherwise.
  5. Hello to you from non-American Scotland. Hope you enjoy this site. You are most welcome.
  6. I have a Fender USA P5 and the 'B' string sounds very good to my ears. It's also around 9lbs, so not a back-breaker. Here it is on the right.
  7. No, I'm talking about Hobgoblin.
  8. In the Edinburgh branch this week - really bad if you play bass.
  9. Best wishes to you Lee. Time's the great healer and at 51, you've got lots of dreams still to chase.
  10. Poor sound. Poor reliability. Could do with a little bit more power for some larger/noisier gigs. Fairly limited range of controls. Cheap construction. No real character to the sound that sets it apart from other similar 'Cash Generator'-type 'finds'. I'd avoid it (as I did whenever I found one lurking in some awful rehearsal place). HOWEVER, you say you like the vibe and how it looks, so, in that case, give it a go. Don't pay much more than £40 for it.
  11. You are correct, they're not as wonderful, amazing, tremendous as legend would suggest. I've got current fivers that are as good, or better, but I just fancy one in CAR. One day ...
  12. Yes indeed - I owned a black one.
  13. Sad for the staff, sad for us musicians, sad all round really.
  14. Does that only leave Anderton's and Guitar Guitar from the 'big players' in Britain then?
  15. That's a shame.

Exactly this. Never met her, but still miss her if that makes sense. 😢
  17. Just donated. Best wishes and hope Lee holds onto his bass.
  18. They do say, "Get a hat and get ahead", or in your case, "a head". 😊
  19. Untrue! I offered £495.
  20. These basses look interesting. Would have liked to have heard more of what they sound like and UK prices, delivery times, etc. Good luck to you.
  21. The late and much-missed @SamIAm was a great enthusiast for the sound, feel and look of her uke-basses. 😢
  22. So have I, and yes, I did. 😉
