International 3-way trade involving Raj just completed. Everything perfect, basses were flying around in perfect sync. Raj is a great guy to deal with, would not hesitate to deal with him again. Thanks Raj!

When Mark King played with Larry Graham at the jazz cafe.

The obvious would have been a duel, right? Puts out a show, and gives space to each other. Also, can somebody please take that fuzz pedal away from LG. The man who stole our beloved dirty Prince from us... Unforgivable -
TRADED: LeFay Remington Steele fretless 4-string

I would start trying to know what's the reason, and whether you indeed lose volume or it is only a *perceived* lack of volume. If you only use your G string sparsely when fingering, maybe it indeed puts out less signal but you hadn't noticed, and you may need to adjust the action and/or the pickup(s) height on the treble end. If your amp is already compressing, fingered notes may be perceived as louder than strumming chords or slapping on the attack portion of the note. You may also try a heavier gauge on the G string. If all that fails, then an EQ pedal or transparent booster will help to transiently boost your signal. Compressors are generally trickier to set, may colour your tone and they are typically on most of the time. They will detract from your dynamics, so you should make sure what you really want is to even out all your playing, or just a temporary boost (e.g. if the slap is for a solo or a bridge). A boost however may drive an amp into clipping and create distortion, which can be distressing if you're playing through the house amp at each venue. So I would check that the bass is set up right first. Then maybe get both a compressor and an eq/booster, to be ready for a variety of situations?

Hi all, For sale is my LeFay Remington Steele. I got this from BCer extraordinnaire wombatboter a few months ago, in hopes that this would be an even better fretless than my Zon Sonus. It is indeed an amazing instrument, and the tones and sustain are fantastic, but I didn't realise that the fretboard's extra high register would get in the way of my usual right hand position (especially for popping), which is closer to the neck. I have tried to adapt but I guess I'm too old to change in any significant way... So up for grabs is what could probably be a 'poor man's hyperbass'.😊 Photos taken yesterday: The bass is in excellent condition, just as it was delivered to me, with just minuscule dings that need a detective to be discovered. It is a 4-string, passive instrument, with controls for volume, tone and a 4-way selector that I suspect is for selecting coils of the single humbucker PU, and both in series or parallel - it seems to be a custom instrument (or an early version) and I have precious little info, so apologies! The official LeFay page is here: http://www.lefay.de/english/bass_remingtonsteele.html And a video of wombatboter (great player!) playing this very instrument here: http://youtu.be/GmGhuJCYDrQ I'm asking 1900£ for it with a hard case, which is approximately what I paid for it used - half the price of a new one. Delivery to the UK included. Not really looking for trades, although a similar high end fretless that I can slap on would be tempting. Thanks!

Sad... I remember I had the chance to help as roadie for the Clarke/Duke Project in a jazz festival in Andorra many years ago. I think I still have a copy of the rider, stage map, etc. That was a great gig, Stan as always doing his thing down with the crowd, only limited by the length of his cable! I guess I was really young then... Must have been 1989-90, cause I also saw Miles Davis live in the same weekend...

Sorry to revive this thread, just saw this and couldn't resist - it's soundboard and the bass is upfront in the mix.MK is a very solid player, but on that night he was particularly inspired, it seems http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQcGfRT4Tt0&sns=em

Just sold a pedal to Douglas, and he was a legend to deal with. He paid immediately, was patient with my busy schedule, responded promptly, and we had a laugh - no problems whatsoever. Although he says that he doesn't deal often at BC, I wouldn't hesitate to sell/buy. Highly recommended, a gentleman and perfect basschatter! Thanks Douglas!

Just completed a fairly complicated deal with Paddy, and he was great throughout, everything went just fine. Good to chat with him about guitars and amps as well, and we even found we may have a similar taste! I wouldn't hesitate to deal with him again, easy communication and top basschatter
