2.
I received a second chance offer on a bass recently by email, and after some brief email exchanges I sent my last message as follows; Hi, Firstly, if you are a genuine seller then I do apologise, however; the location of the item is listed as Birmingham England, yet you say you are in Greece (did you take all of your for sale items with you?), your ad offers paypal but you want a money transfer, you say the buyer pulled out only 4 hours after he put in a last minute bid (?) yet you have already left positive feedback for him, you claim the sale will be under ebay protection (how????? - that is done via ebay not outside) and for some unknown reason you want me to email you my personal details. Oh, and YOU GOT MY NAME WRONG. Forgive me, but I am more than a little skeptical Thanks Just thought it might highlight a few things to look out for
i had a similar '2nd chance offer' apparently from this seller (musicgearguy6), but after emails were exchanged, he told me that the guitars had been sold, so were no longer for sale. apparently his account had been hacked into, and whoever it was had put all his stuff up for 2nd chance offers hoping to get money from bidders who lost the auction! scum-bag!
  3. welcome pete. nice hoard, i mean collection of gear!! karl ('soft-southern-sh**e' )
  4. welcome mark. who's that sitting at the computer behind you while your playing the rickki??...obviously not impressed with your thumping efforts!!
  5. i've been told that this works well with GAS, but haven't tried it yet. www.gas-x.com
  6. welcome astro, yes, this a friendly forum (helps to have good sense of humour! ).
  7.
Nice one. Looks good. I did mine just the other day too!
i'm loving the jazz 'shrine'!!......
  8. It's just like women......there's always a more beautiful one out there....... but luckily guitars can't say no!
  9.
.....The weight of the world is Bass upon our shoulders............This worries me,because,as Ive written,Im seeing the changes....its not on the horizon..its in the dark horrid underbelly, that wallows beneath...and that always bursts through..takes time.
christ! take a prozac or something, you're starting to depress us all. we'll be slitting our wrists soon!! music is supposed to be enjoyable & (god forbid!) fun (?) !!!
  10.
..and that trickles through, takes time a few generations at best, but I can see it happening.
we'll all be long-gone by then, so try not to get too bogged down with worrying about it....unless you want to leave a musical legacy for the future generations of your family (IMO your 9er will do that nicely).
  11. haven't been to NZ for a few years, but i agree its a wonderful, friendly place. welcome.
  12.
When I started out anything I could afford was made out of plywood. It was years before I could afford a bass made out of decent materials.
That's very sad.......... .............................
  13.
OK guys I've got a question about my own bass and I need some help Nottswarick has pointed out that the Fender site lists Jap mades as having R +5 digits, but mine has R + 6 digits, I know it's kosher since I've owned it from new but I'm just wondering what the situation is with this, it was made in 2006, so did they change the serial numbering or what?.
I've recently noticed this when checking the fender site about another potential purchase of mine (GAS!). I'd also like this one explained, if someone out there knows. Cheers.

    hi
Welcome Never need another bass eh? - watch out for that GAS Hamster
welcome bassmansky. I've only been back playing for a few weeks, and i've got GAS really bad... ......already bought 2 basses (and looking at another next week!)...... it's all very addictive isn't!!
  18. i'd be happy to take them off your hands if your mate can't take them.....let me know. thanks, karl
  19. i've done a couple of them myself......not pleasant!! but use ice-baths (just for the hand) to ease the swelling and pain. it'll go numb, which will enable you to start gentle movements. other than that, alcohol is the pain-killer of choice!!
  20. Fran, thats a beautiful collection......wouldn't mind something similar myself! I'm also into the natural look.....'pure wood' (just like my wife prefers!)
  21. + 1 for the gymball idea. as a physio, i spend all day trying to sort out backs/posture etc, so the idea of sitting for hours slumped over the bass, on the edge of a bed playing/practising is horrifying.....it'll play havoc with your spine (eventually). you should ideally sit for shorter periods, but have your lower back supported. other than that, STAND.... its a more natural posture for playing, and the strap should take most of the weight evenly.
  22. No offense to any Gibson/LP fans, but that price is almost laughable!! I'd happily blow a few grand (if i had it) on a nice guitar collection, but that much!!??
  23.
£200 mark? Squire Vintage Modified Jazz. Will come in about £220ish.
i've just picked one of these up from soundlive website for £209.00.......very impressed with it.........the reviews weren't wrong!
  24.
So you have the bass, What type of music is that going to played on, is the current band ok with that? or are going in a another direction.
It looks like the sort of instrument an angel might play when they're bored with their lyre!!!
