1. If you can find a Rustin's stockist in Glasgow you won't need to pay postage (assuming they have it in stock). I needed some recently, tried all the DIY places to no avail and rang Rustins for a list of local stockists in Yorkshire: there were only 2 in the biggest county in England! I'm sure if you asked them for Glasgow stockists they'd oblige... One shop I went into said they had not been asked for it for years as it was an "old "product used by the old style craftsmen! And unless you are making 10 Basses a week that little tin will last a lifetime!
2. You could see if "Rustins" do a suitable product, sorry too lazy to look ! http://www.rustins.eu/web/default.asp
3. This topic has certainly captured the Basschatters imagination!
4. Shame there's not a Buy It Now price... Incidentally, a guy once played my Bass who used to play with Paul Carrack, do you think it's worth auctioning ?
5. Just got our band's insurance renewal through: looking at all the exclusions ( must be in a hard case),( must be out of view in vehicle),( must have Thatcham steering lock on vehicle),( must be tuned to C#minor), it's clear we are never going to be able to claim anything ever, however we do get £1.2 m public liability insurance. Anyone got any good deals just on Public Liability and if so can you recommend any brokers/companies? I've looked at MU and to join would cost us all a lot more than we pay in premiums now..... Mods: please move this if it should be somewhere else.....
6. "belongs to a guitar legend" called Lainey from Stafford... I wonder if its ?
7. So that's what the low B on a 5 string is for..... 8. We use a HK Lucas 600watt system with a seperate very compact Thomann 100w monitor for our singer, that's vocs & bv's through the pa the rest is backline. As I store and move the PA I wanted something small (Punto) and lightish! If Barefaced can come up with something more powerful but still "Compact" I'd be interested!
9. You don't want a nice hard case for your Hohner do you?.......

11. So the seller will saw the neck off for you....?
12. Absolute are £630 on the LMIII with a currency fluctuation proviso on the price...surely they would just order 20 at a price, if it then goes up then sell those new ones at the new price??
13. I think you are wrong about the custard: they'd only use that if it was Bird's Eye Maple....
14. Absolute had a LMIII on ebay last week but it has gone, I think it was just below or just above £700 ( could be wrong!) whereas a LMII can be had for just over £520 now.
15. I went into my loft and got insulted......
16. RE a Vintage bass I would happily act as middleman to help you acquire any of the following for a small % of your £4k... http://www.jhs.co.uk/vintagebass.html
17. Nice job and the advert displays candour and honesty not always evident in ebay ads nowaday!
18. I'm selling a very solid bespoke metal flight case for the aforementioned bass. If you've followed my build thread you will know I bought a badly battered Hohner 4 sting stick bass which I've coverted into a single cut. Consequently the case no longer fits and anyway my intention is just to put it in a small gig bag and use it as a spare at gigs. I'm asking £35 ( it really is solid, I can stand on it at 17 stone) and the cost of postage although could deliver to west yorks or the NE via the A1 corridor.
19.
It was either the Biddick Arts Centre in Washington, or the Buddle Arts Centre Wallsend. It was a long time ago so I don't blame you for the hybrid version. Great days............
So Biddick it was then..don't think it was a hybrid , it was a Precision! PS I've got both Back Door and 8th Street Hights on vinyl, with Back Door signed by the Band if anyone wants to make me an offer?
20. If I did my build again I'd go for the blue inlays and matching headstock: like someone said earlier, sometimes it's not till you've built/had built your bass do you realise you wish you'd done that..... It was at the last Manchester Bass show that I saw Overwaters with coloured pearloid inlays.......
21. These are great basses, I have a fretted cherry wood one with a sound to die for! The price quoted is very very reasonable!
