1. The laquer on my trombone is wearing off in places where I hold it! hah. It might be beause he's using it, or again as said before acid sweat haha.
2. Seems to be fine. The cab is rated higher than the full output of the head, the minimum 4 ohms in met (otherwise you could run one or two 8 ohm cabs instead of a single 4 ohm one). I suppose just listen out for any farting, etc if you really drive your amp/cab to ear-crushing high volumes.
3. I really like this cover by Johnny cash.
4. Brilliant! Congrats. If rockschool are anything like trinity the certificate will take MONTHS.
5. Selling my Ibanez, as I don't use it anymore, and I have one too many basses cluttering my room. Has a little bit of faint red paint on top of the headstock, tried to show it in a photo. Should come off with application of spirits. Currently strung with nearly unused DR Black beauties. Looking for £120, but open to offers.
6. definately head and seperate cabs. more modular, flexible and slightly easier to carry. I have an old ashdown EB 180 combo, and its quite heavy. I'll be looking to get head & cab when I upgrade. xD
7. balanced is always a good idea, if its applicable to whatever cable you are using. I believe the simplest way, and the way I do it with my desk is this: I believe there are RCA outputs labelled 'REC OUT' - thats the one you want. so for that you want one of these (as an example) http://www.thomann.d...ake_yrk2015.htm a 3.5mm stereo jack to RCA so you can just plug into your 'line in' or 'mic' port on your PC. alternatively there are USB interfaces which include software such as http://www.woodbrass.com/en/product_info.php?calculport_country_id=222&products_id=88576&af=833& but I cannot really comment on this as I don't use it.
8. I Wish - Stevie Wonder Animal I have Become - Three Days Grace
9. So What - Miles Davis Livin' on a Prayer - Bon Jovi Dreaming of You - The Coral Breathing - Yellowcard
10. I found that knowing some tunes that use an interval as part of a main melody e.g. for a fifth, try the first two notes of the star wars theme!
11. Are you doing it with Rockschool, or trinity? Or another board? I recently did my grade 8 trombone, and the sight reading (from the syllabus) seemed to be what you would expect from a grade 5/6 performance piece. I also don't know how much they go into theory and aural testing? I also don't see why they should restrict you on what kinda of bass you bring (as long as its in the correct tuning. )
12. wow this is so tempting. just wish I needed this! have you considered shipping?
13.
Its five minutes of commericals. That you can't skip. Every time you want to watch the film that you've legally paid for. And a big fat anti-piracy advert that as good as calls you a criminal (even though you've paid for their product). It is most definitely an inferior product.
Surely you must realise that this is also reactionary to the fact that piracy is a growing and very commonplace activity? An example, its not just the muic industry being limited to piracy. In the game industry, last year a game called 'Cyrisis 2' had an estimated 4 million unregistered copies on the multiplayer servers after just four months of the game being released. Within that same period, they had only sold 3 million copies. This was one of the worst performances for a game. In these scenarios, it shows that 'people' will not pay for things if they can get away with it. And the arguement of someone illegally downloading an album/film/game who wouldn't have bought it otherwise is beside the point? Why should they being able to access these things just because its there. Buying music is much like buying clothes, or shoes or even a guitar, regardless of how you look at it. Its a product. They won't buy it if they can't afford it. But with music, there is a way around paying for it, so they won't. Its simple in the eyes of my generation. They know the things they want to spend they're money on. And music isn't one of them, for the majority of people. (uncle psychosis sorry this isn't all aimed at you )
14. It is entirely possible I'm being a total muppet! But thatnks Monckyman, I've read through your post and understand it, just need to wait for some RCA - jack converters to arrive so I can try thestereo outs. On another note, does this mean that the faders shouldn't affect the volume in the rec out?
15. Thankyou so much, Ed you're a star! I had a go with what you suggested and still the signal ignores the faders. D=
16. well it doesn't seem to make a difference whether the channel is 'on' or not. Could you possibly take me through which buttons should be 'down' for the signal to not bypass the faders? The owners manual is of no help, it appears.
17. At the moment, there is only a signal coming through when the pre-fader switch is engaged, regardless of whether I'm listening through headphones or recording to my mac.
18. Haha, its ok. Cheers though, Truckstop. It seems to be the signal just completely missing out the faders altogether.
19. I recently bought a mixer off ebay, a Yamaha MG124c. Is it normal that none of the sliders affect the signal in any way? Or are they there purely for the XLR & jack stereo outs to go into power amp/powered speakers? I can still control the channel volume vai the gain knob. Nothing in the manual says anything about it. Is this the norm or is there something wrong? If anyone can help, it'd be much appreciated! I don't want a faulty item!
20. That looks very nice! If only I was closer. Goodluck with the sale, I'm sure it won't be around long!
21. I have a right-handed one in decent but dusty condition. I'd be interested in others opinions too, but £120 sounds about right to me.
