1. Quick Bump Would be really great to see any BC members if they can make it along. Definitely a free beer in it for you. I'm off to [s]nervously cack myself[/s] practice
 2.
Have you asked the venue about possible places to park a van or something. Surely they'd be used to accomodating tour buses and such things.
Apparently not. There's load in and load out ramps, but then the local NCP carpark gets a plug, and thats £30 overnight + you have to be back for 7.30am. I think the key is that we fall into the category of guys who want to get drunk after the gig, but can't afford someone to take care of us. Coming to a gutter near you sometime soon!
 3. And naturally my answer would be... 'but of course'. Us bass players have to look after our own kind! Seriously, if anyone fancies it then just ping me.
 4. Cheers guys! Yeah we're pretty stoked and the nerves/excitement are kicking in. Looking forward to soundchecking with a 50kw PA Might bring my 5 string for a laugh. How did we get the gig?? Well, as we just play weddings and corporate parties, every year we pick a venue and hire it privately. Then we flog tickets to our mates to try and recoup the cost. We've worked our way up year by year, from The Spitz, to Bush Hall, to ULU last year, and now the Islington Academy. We've sold 400 tickets so far, and hope for a lot more on the night!!
 5.
just out of interest where are you playing? If i wasn't out myself on Friday i would have offered to let you put all the gear at my work place overnight (or even over the weekend). I have the keys and we arent open over the weekend. Its in Holborn so just outside the west end. But ill be in Bristol that night and doubt i would be back in time to let you in.
Hi Dave, Thanks for the offer. We're playing the Islington Carling Academy on Upper St., 7-10pm (anyone who fancies dropping in is more than welcome and gets a free beer!) In the end we've resorted to the old favourite of Addison Lee. Three MPV's at 2am will get everything home safely and they've never let us down yet.
 6.
Eight guitars? 12 people?
Three basses, 5 guitars. + WAGS!!!
 7.
Yeah I don't think would have room for that sorry buddy it was worth a try. But if anyone ever needs stuff moved about we have a van that is only used on gig nights.
Thanks again, and will def keep it in mind for the future
 8.
How much gear you got? We are playing in London on Friday and might be able to sort something out as we are taking the van.
Thanks. Its backline really - 8 guitars, drums, keyboards.... but 12 people at 2am too....
 9. Thanks guys - much appreciated. Keep 'em coming if you're any more ideas.
 10. Bit of an odd question here. We've got a big London gig on Friday and so we need to get our kit too and from the venue. Problem is, that there's no parking there, and everyone wants/needs to drink so there's no chance of someone driving a van home. Aside from loading everything into some cabs at 2am, has anyone got any other ideas? Are there Man&Van places that operate into the early hours? Has anyone used a band transport company and have any recommendations?? Cheers.
 11. Equally, if you can show me a 600 capacity venue in central London for a cheaper hire charge then I'm all ears
 12.
Are there gonna be girls there?
Many! Although I've already circulated your mug shot so they may be wary
 13.
I work just up the road. What time are you playing? I will try and get down if I'm not rehearsing. I'll be the one shouting "FREEBIRD!"
Forgot to mention... support band is on at 7pm, and we're on 8 until 10.
 14.
I work just up the road. What time are you playing? I will try and get down if I'm not rehearsing. I'll be the one shouting "FREEBIRD!"
Hey BBC - it would be great to see you if you can make it. More the merrier! Cheers
 15.
8 quid to see a cover band?
Ummm, yes. Two bands, and clubnight 'til 3am. Not bad value at all really.
 16.
On behalf of the forum, you're very welcome Polly Many thanks to Coasterbass (Nick) who deserves credit for organising the flowers and managing the whipround.
Cheers CK - glad it all came together, and thanks to everyone who chipped in at the SE Bash.
 17. Bump to the top. I'm really excited about this gig as it will be our biggest yet. A beer on me to any basschatters who fancy coming along to say hi. Cheers
 18.
Some pics:
Loving the photo of Stu and I 'enjoying' the demo of Alex's cab !!
 19. We use Scream studios in Croydon. LOTS of rooms and a keyboard available. Good rates. Also try Resident (as recommended above) in Willesden, but the rooms are getting expensive. Or Alaska studios opposite Waterloo.
 20. Well its taken me a good 48hrs to fully process all my thoughts from such a fantastic day (and also to shake the ringing in my ears from Alex's cabs and that monster Hartke stack!!). As a Bass Bash virgin I didn't know quite what to expect. Thanks to Merton and Nik for organising such a brilliant day, and thanks to everyone else who came for, well, being so damn nice! It was great to see such gorgeous gear being shown the open road and really put through their paces! And not a slap-fest in sight! Fantastic workshops which really gave the day some 'purpose'. Fortunately I've survived with minimal GAS, but I did find myself back on the Buy/Sell thread on Sunday Thanks to all, and roll-on the next Bass Bash Nick
 21. Its been so long since this thread started that I've forgotten what time it starts!?!? Is it 10am ? Also, I don't suppose anyone has a Deep Impact that they're bringing along? I'd love to hear what all the fuss is about.
 22. Ampeg is 'industry standard' for a good reason... you can trust that you'll get a great sound easily. Take the Ampeg!!
 23.
The 5000 series is say over the top for what you need.... that gear is designed for Broadcast and applications where RF stability is most important. The 100/300 series will be more than adequate I guarantee you. The reason they want so much money for insurance is that's how much the kit costs to buy.... it's not cheap
Interesting. The key benefit of the Senn is actually that the on/off switch is on the bottom, making it harder to switch off mid gig. It sounds dumb, but if you had witnessed our singer turning off his mic 5 times in one gig (!!) then you'd understand Will look into the 100/300 range though.
 24.
Well, yeah. Just pointing out the top end gear incase coasterbass wasn't aware of it
It was just the information i was looking for to be honest. Yeah, its a bit OTT, but then we are a very ostentatious two-bit covers band with dillusions of grandeur I think the rates worked out as £35 for a SM58, £40 for a Beta 58 or £44 for the Sennheiser 5000. Why not go for the Senn?!
 25. Technical question.... I spoke to Bettersound, and although its like £40 to hire the kit (fine) they want me to insure it for £8000. This is causing some issues with my insurer. How do other people cover hire equipment? (and how do they work out it costs £8k as well?!?!?!)
