I always take 2 basses, 2 cabs and 2 amp heads.

It's to reduce load ins (so, bag on bag with both basses in, and cabs in the other). A lot of gigs are park away from the venue/stage and a bit of a walk, so if I can do one trip it saves a lot of hassle. Also, maybe looking at using trains in the future too where needed.

Hi all, I've always been a strictly hard case when it comes to transporting my basses. Never used a gig bag at all. However, I've just seen the mono dual bass bag and they look great. Has anyone used one of these? It's exactly what I'm looking for, but they seems VERY expensive for a gig bag?

I'm a big advocate of PLI.- always had it, always will, but you also have to fight your corner when people of their own choice get plastered out of control and injure themselves by their own stupid actions. In most cases it's nothing to do with the band/act, and how they have set up, but complete idiocy from members of the public. In which case it's fair enough to argue that point and only use PLI where argued against or necessary.

I start with everything centered in the middle. Roll off a little mids, add a little bass and its lovely. For extra thump I add some low mids on my amp. Great tone imo.

They are great. But..... they do the job they were built for, and by that I mean playing in a band. They dont dazzle you when playing alone, or sound sonically fantastic isolated at low level. Yet, in a band situation when everyones in and the inputs and outputs are driven as they should be, they do the job perfectly. That's where they shine.

It's a bit odd to be launching a new product when they cant even get their existing products out to market. Unless theyve launched the cabs as their current amps are on hold due to supply problems.

That does sound nice. Nice and bright and cuts through that mix. With evo standing for evolution I'd have hoped theyd have listened about putting a tuner in it for its 5 evolution - the VU meter is right there and perfect for a tuner! - Then itd be a real all in one amp. It's me being lazy, but I dont want to have to plug in tuners, cables and extra power supplies, extension leads or plugs. I just wanna plug one plug in and play. It does sound like the best abm so far though going off that video alone.

It's a weird one indeed. Ilk take it to the tech see what he can do. Looking on google someone else had an issue too, said it was a known import issue?

I changed my thinking a few years ago, from a dye in the wool 'dont sell at any cost' to a 'sell when needed', and once you sell and sell regular I think you get a better perspective on things, and appreciate them whilst you had them and then appreciate the new ones you have. Even this week i have a dilemma, where my van has been written off, and I have a 1 month old mint jeff berlin bass that I love....but it's not the end of the world if I have to sell, as much as I'd like to keep it.

I find playing through an ampeg cab, any head sounds like an ampeg. Playing through an ashdown cab anything sounds slightly dull and nondescript, but in a good way. What I'm getting at is both cabs are coloured and both designed to work as a unit with their respective heads. I've been down the barefaced route (210s, super compact, super twin) and to be honest it just didnt do it for me. The rigs sound best complete to me.

I've had a lot of rack pres and full on valve amps etc, and the best sound of them all for me - despite 20 years of ignoring it - was a simple sansamp bdi. Rack pres are ok, but when coupled with a power amp, they're large, quite heavy, fiddly to use (they dont all sound loud as they should with their connections and outputs) and still quite delicate. I'd say when playing in a band theres no difference to me between my markbass and sansamp, and any of the all valve beasts I had. I'd even say it sounds better.

I've just played my new ray 34 (ash, roasted neck) at an outside gig, it's a complete tone machine. Gees, they're good these stingrays. Really full sound. Easy to play too. I played through my sansamp bdi pretty much flat. What was great though is that the tone can be so easily changed using the eq on the fly. As it was an informal garden party I had chance to experiment and theres so much tone and possibilities in there from fat, punchy funk, to mid driven rock. The only difference I'd say between the 34 and a precision is that the 34s bottom e is softer and rounder, you dont get that slam. Well, maybe you can after a bit of eqing and playing around, but the bottom e just felt softer than the others. Not in a bad way though.

If you're lugging a big valve head, it's best paired with a big cab. If your lugging a big cab, it's best micd up, otherwise you're more than likely just getting the pre amp valves, not output valves sound when di ing from the head. If your gonna just di the head, imo you might as well just get a di pedal or rack - it's the same thing for foh.

Ahhh..... the familiar class d, class a/b, valve amp circle.... I cant get out of it either. Mark my words you'll get a SVT, then a month later be back on class d, then a/b.....then back round again!

All my usual bass leads work fine with all my other basses and amps, just not this one.

What's weird is when I looked at my boss wl50 jack, that's a 2 ring jack as well, not a one ring mono.
-
Hi all, I've just bought a used but immaculate ray 34 and it only works when using a cable with 2 stripes on the jack. Whether it be a patch cable type, or my wireless unit - boss wl 50. It will not work at all with a regular guitar / bass cable. It works superb, no hassle, eq and volume great, sound great, but only with a 2 striped jack...... Anyone any ideas why?

Gees, how many bands are on!! I thought there was only about 3 or 4 stages. With that list it looks like every band in the country is gonna get a go!
-
Zero for me. Been in bands where people think 5-10 pints makes them better. It doesnt.
