1. Are you using it in dry mode? In stock form, dry mode isn't very useable as it produces a large volume boost but this mod can change that: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/112212-bass-big-muff-volume-and-feedback-mods/ I use it in dry mode with the aforementioned mod, but also run a mild mid-boosting overdrive in front of it and have no problems cutting through. I use the Catalinbread SFT for this at the moment, but I've also had good results with a modded Bad Monkey and Xotic BB Preamp. This way you can layer your dirt - clean, mild OD, and OD + Fuzz!
2. You don't even need a fancy drill, I've drilled enclosures just fine with a hand power drill!
3. I've tried loads of filters and wahs but never been 100% happy with one. If I was going to buy another right now though it would be the 3Leaf Wonderlove: http://www.3leafaudi...nvelope-filter/
4. I would hazard a guess that the one that looks more expensive is the expensive one!
5. Sorry, didn't see this as haven't checked the thread in a while! Not looking for any trades at the moment.
6. 'Tis to do wth phase cancellation: http://barefacedbass.com/uploads/BGM61%20Dec2010.pdf
7. Basically the first two Black Sabbath albums! Also if you get the deluxe versions there is a B-side Wicked World that has a brilliant bassline!
8. Bump!
9. The stage might be rather cosy for an 11-piece band though, you can get an idea of the size of it here: http://www.thehificlub.co.uk/gallery
10. Ah, been there many times when I was at uni >10 years ago, great little place.
11. +1 for the Kala U-Bass - Clarky is selling a fretless one on here for a bargain price, I'd nab it if you're at all interested! They sound very DB like, can be amplified, great for travel, and would fit right in with the look - although you would have to carry a small amp as they aren't very loud unplugged.
12. Also it doesn't help that they are still banging out the 2011 models for £899 delivered: http://www.gak.co.uk/en/fender-american-standard-precision-bass-2009-black-maple/19255
13. Jack - have you tried putting just a single AT7 in the V1 position on the right hand side leaving a 12AX7 on the left? I think there‘s a chance this could achieve the same result of taming the gain but give you more overall volume. My theory being that if you also have a lower gain tube just before the power amp you may not be getting the max amount of power from it.
14. Also a good idea to let people know where you are!
15. Definitely says Analog Delay on the front of the pedal. The waveform is probably just a pitch modulation LFO, like on the EHX Memory Boy:
16. As far as I know they aren't starved - they light up like a Christmas tree so there must be some decent voltage going through. Funnily enough my Gold Lion 12AX7s don't glow though. I don't know about a shimmery top end though, that's not what this amp is about.
17.
Maybe the only niggle is that it almost has too much bottom end for my taste.
The EQ is flattest with bass and treble all the way down and mids maxed according to the BassGearMag review. Don't be afraid to turn that bass control down and the mids up!
18. Not seen those before, I suppose that would be a great option as long as you were committed to keeping your iPhone/iPad. The Zoom units do have metering and built in compression/limiting however.
19. If like me you find you hardly use the G string, you could always string up BEAD using the bottom 4 strings from a 5-string set. That way you won't have to re-learn too much as your E, A and D strings are still there, but now you have some extra low notes to play with.
20. If you don't mind spending a little bit, try the Zoom Q3 or Q3HD. I have the older H2 sound recorder and it has great stereo sound quality that can cope with very loud volumes. http://www.zoom.co.jp/english/products/q3/
21.
Post up some pics that look a little more genuine, maybe some of the bass in your kitchen, just something that looks like it has not been copied from elsewhere.
I agree with what's been said apart from this - the photos on eBay look fine and having a washing machine in the background will add no value. Plus I prefer that the bass be pictured laying down on a soft carpet than on a hard surface, makes it look like it's been looked after. Alarm bells ring when someone takes their pics outside in the garden resting against some paving slabs for example!
22.
Does anyone use the OBT for Funk/Soul/R&B stuff? The reviews of this amp are always concerning rock/metal, but I wonder how it handles that styles of music. I'm hoping it will blow my mind with an old Precision with the right flats on it!
It's perfect for that sound, you won't be disappointed.
23.
When oh when, will the mods restrict the selling forum to established bcers?
Why? Someone got a bargain bass, and we were all thoroughly entertained!
24. They were very expensive anyway, you'd be far better off getting the LM2 for £275 in the for sale section (which is a very clean flat sounding amp) with a VT Deluxe.
25. They are big and ugly just like the Markbass pedals - at least Markbass has seen the light and produced a smaller range!
