1. Hey Dave, Welcome, man! You're doing fine already, so should have no problem in getting to be a part of this, which is quite a feat in fact, as we tend to look down on people from the British isles, and treat them with suspicion. Oh... wait!!! Enjoy the fora! bert
2. Congrats! Decided on a new user name yet? Simply CLASSIC maybe?
3. When not being in a band, I just noodle at home, Developing The Shape Of Music To Come. Inbetween, I try to learn to hold the bass. When I know how to do it, I plan on getting a teacher to show me where my fingers need to be. That's it really.
4. Whilst I feel your requirements scream Shuttle(Max) or similar heads, I have the feeling your being bored is not necessarily gonna be cured by them. After all, the Shuttles and EBSs are on the same planet as the LM - if I understand correctly that is. How much change from the sound of the LM are you asking for? If you want a lot of change, you might even be served better by heads like the Streamliner, ToneHammer or those gritty Gallien Kruegers.
5. My take is that I believe Mark can be trusted to have your interests at heart, and to sell you the right stuff. He will have strong opinions, yes. I like it that way, and have bought two amps from him as a direct result of it. Will be a returning customer later as well. Though I'm very respectful of a few less than wonderful experiences that some BC members have had with the shop, I think it's best to enter the dialogue with positive expectations. Mark deserves it, I think. I did, and am glad that I did. In general I think it's a good idea to make an appointment, or you risk that he concentrates on another customer who does have an appointment.
6. From what I remember, the Micro CL is not that highly regarded, and I think there has been mention of lacking build quality. The more expensive VR with 210 stack seemingly is a better choice. I don't know whether I read it here or on other fora, but you could do a search. Personally I've instead gone for the Orange Micro Terror with two PPC 108 cabs. That stack is cheaper than the CL stack (at least here in Norway), and does the work with vigour. Lurv it, and it got very favourable reviews too. As a side note, the Crush series seems not that highly regarded from what I read on BC, but that may be mostly due to the build quality.
7.
switched mode psus are the way PCs are powered. and therefore the internet, and therefore BassChat... :-)
Aye. BC indeed is next to impossible to diagnose problems with.
8. Hey Pete, Welcome from a classical-boy-gone-lost-case. I see you have better plans. Enjoy the fora and the double bass! best, bert
9. It's 7£ for an ad, or 20£ a year for as many ads as you like. Nobody is forced to sell on BC. However, if one does, one is not allowed to do it here, without paying for the service. Simple rules, I should imagine, so evil, suspicious minds (not me) might think you cheekily are trying to sell whilst dodging the fees... My take: why not simply support this lovely place, and sell with a clear conscience?
10.
a pretty nice review >> http://www.premiergu...cabinet-reviews
Just be aware the 8 Ohm claim in that review seems wrong. The MiBass 2.0 will take 4 Ohm if the Ashdown site is to be believed. Couldn't find a picture of the 2.0's back, but do believe Ashdown. Probably two speakons for two 8 Ohm cabs.

13.
Do you need a two octave bass ? I have always felt that shorter basses have more growl on the bottom frets where you need it.
Wow. That's interesting. You mean shorter necked basses, right? As in that a larger percentage of the string is over the body? Or in other words: we are still talking about the same scale length, yes? While there is no doubt in my mind that the neck length/body length ratio (of course only between nut and saddles) is very important, and possibly gets more important the more flexible the neck is, I had no idea that this could be translated into growl. I'm just not good enough to even test this, as I get a plethora of different timbres/styles even when trying to play evenly, but will surely remember this. Me likey growl. Hey! Got an idea! The Neckless[sup]TM[/sup]! Remember you read it here first!
14. Indeed, surprisingly, this turned out to be a rather good read after all. Well done, Shell and guys, for splitting amicably. Good luck with the other band! And those above are right, I think: a bass/drums duo that works well together can conquer the world. You could help Mark with Poland this saturday.
15. Hey Charlie, You picked the right instrument. Bass is the simplest one to master. All of us simpletons can, so you can too. Of course I was only kidding. The other simpletons can. I can't. Enjoy the bass and BC! bert
