  1. I think an unlined is next on my list. They do look a lot better. I'm a Jazz man so what fretless bass would the experts suggest I try? Budget around the £1000 mark.
  2. I've just recently got my first fretless, a mexican J bass and absolutely love it. I'm also wondering why I didn't try fretless before. Mine is linned and find it easier to play than a fretted bass.
  3. I purchased an EXR a few weeks ago and really like it. Not got much to compare it too though as its the first envelope filter I've tried. Sounds great with my jazz bass and you can get some really interesting sounds from it, funky as.

  5. Afternoon, recently started getting in effect pedals and I need to get a multi power supply but was wondering what everybody recommends? I need 2 x 9v as well as 1 x 18v so far but sure I'll be needing more in the future . The Dunlop brick looks great but pricey, What does everyone else use?
  6. I've just taken delivery of a PF350 + 115cab from Andertons, great price with the 25% off the cab even had a few loyalty points from a previous order + got some new one's in the bank. So far so good. Looks great and sounds really good too. Nice touch having the audio input which is audible through headphones, great for those late night sessions, tonight being one!
  7. It depends on the guitar for me. I like black on Stingrays.
  8. Thing is I also really want a fretless and can't get both at the moment. I know if I buy this a great fretless will come up. I'll see if I can butter the wife up... not literally
  9. I agree my Stringray feels really heavy in comparision to my Fenders but does have a great, powerful tone. Very tempted to buy that Sadowsky fretless on offer. Not sure I can square that one up with the other half after a few recent purchases though
  10. Dry Cleaner from Des Moines on Mingus is a great track. First heard in on 6 music at work and the bass line stopped me in my tracks. Had to go on Amazon and order the album right away. Rest of the album is good but that is the stand out track for me. Thanks for the offer re the blank cd but just bought a copy anyway. Prefer to have original cd's than copies in my collection but much appreciated anyway. Happy to record any of the purchases for you if you want.
  11. Okay just ordered Don Juan's Reckless Daughter, Pat Metheny's Bright Size Life and Shadows and light. Looking forward to some great listening. Thanks all.
  12. Thanks. It was Dry Cleaners from Des Moines that I was talking about originally. Such a great bass groove. Have to play it on repeat in the car. Absolutely love it and although I had obviously heard of Jaco didn't realise it was him until I posted on here about the tone of the bass on that track. Think I'll order Shadows and light now and check out the Youtube stuff in a bit.
  13. Evening, Having recently been loving a Jaco bass line in a Joni Mitchell track which I didn't realise was Jaco until later, I want to hear more of this great musician but there seems to be a fair amount of material. What tracks should I seek out first?

  17. I've got a California TT on order from Germany, 12 weeks and counting
  18. I went to Mansons today as I was visiting my in laws and we met up in Exeter. Never been there before but great shop. Wall to wall guitars. Left empty handed as they didn't have what I was after in stock due to taking some stuff to the Bass Show in London but I will definately be back.
  19. That was really good. All great musicians, hope you all go far.
  20. Perhaps I need to try a fretless jazz then. Still want a new amp though.
  21. There are loads of places in the states selling them on Ebay, around £130 shipped.
  22. Thanks Danny, I'm using a small fender amp at the moment which has lots of built in effects which was good a starter amp but looking to move on now I've got a good idea of the tones I want. I don't gig at the moment, just play at home so don't need a lot of volume but probably will get to gigging in the next few years. The Ampeg B15 look great don't think I want to spend that much. The micro looks more in my budget so I'll try and get a play on one of them and the others you mentioned locally so I can try for myself. I'm also going to look out for a Catalinbread SFT as that sounds ideal too although see they are not that easy to get hold of.
