Just received this today brand new and unfortunately it doesn't fit my bass as it's not actually a Gibson but a weird custom with non standard sizings and measurements. This is brand new and never fitted, only been out of the packet 10 mins. It should fit any Gibson or Epiphone EB-0/EB-3 or Gibson RD. http://www.hipshotproducts.com/cart.php?m=...etail&p=264 £55 shipped. WITHDRAWN Decided to get the bass modified to fit as there are no other bridges that even come close to fitting.

Any recommendations for in-ear monitoring?
joegarcia replied to thepurpleblob's topic in Accessories and Misc
Thanks, my singer has bought posh Sennheiser ones now. -
Sorry to hear that Rich, have a good practice. Cool, possibly two BC'ers at the Guildford show, make sure you both come and say hi. Just got back from the first gig in Bath. Went pretty well, short set though as we were supporting Jubilee. They have the current bassist from Queens of the Stone Age who are one of my favourite bands. Was great to play alongside him, he was really really good. Just headlining from now on so we get nice long sets.

Great, nice one mate! It'll be pretty loud at that show I reckon. A busy one for me too as I'll be the house engineer. Thankfully we have our own German genius of an engineer to mix us.
-
Cool, come and say hi if you make it.

Common problem is people using too much input gain on vocal channels. Try backing it off a fair bit and putting the faders up. This always works for me along with EQ. Are you using compression on the vocals with excessive make-up gain? If so, maybe try turning that down too.
-
Unlike with a valve amp it shouldn't damage the Trace to use it without a speaker attached. However, you'll struggle to get headphones to work without a headphone socket without some kind of headphone amp. You can buy headphone amps cheapish but if you have a mixer or something with a line in and headphone out you could make do with the DI out on your amp or, failing that, the fx send into that.
-
Yea, reckon it could do that. There used to be samples of it on the Ibanez website.

I've got one and it's probably the least used pedal on my board. However, it's still there while many have been and gone. I do quite like some of the stuff it can do but rarely find a use for it in my band, depends what sort of music you're doing really and how you use it.
I missed Rose Kemp when she (you?) played with Oceansize in London last year, thanks to whatever idiot decided it'd be good to have gigs inside a shopping centre, so I may very well be at the Guildford date (if only to see the Rickenblacker in the flesh).
Cool, probably only gonna use the Rickenblacker for one song thats tuned down to A, and thats if the new bridge comes before next week. The rest will be with the Sabre. Remember that gig with Oceansize last year, a weird one, good though. We're doing another show with them on 17th October actually, as part of their 10th anniversary do in Manchester.

Cool, well come see us on the tour then. Playing as a full band.

Yea, Heavy Black Snow, I recorded the vocals with her for that. Awesome track. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCS3DQrnP3M http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdZBQECocNs

HOT!

............You have no idea how many times I have heard that.

Hi, I'll be off on tour playing with Rose Kemp next week if anybody is interested in seeing a freaky upside down bass player, my two large amps and ridiculous pedal board in action. http://www.myspace.com/rosekemp

Yea, I use mine loads, particularly on my Sabre. We have songs where I go between bitey Musicman grunt to fat dub like thunder with no high end at all. Use combinations of both pickups lots too.
Good points. The Thomann ones I linked to are UK legal, but they do make other frequency ranges so make sure you're getting the right ones.
Can they be used in Europe as well as the UK do you know? -
I agree with jensenmann as per his choices although I have had good results from a beta52. My personal favourite is the Beyer Opus 65 though, or a MD421.
I just cheated http://img145.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dscf2589fv0.jpg I do like a bit of chrome with my black, though.
Thats really really nice Steve. I prefer the black and chrome too. The Gordon Smith 'Rickenblacker' has arrived that I bought off Ebay. Changing the crappy bridge to a Hipshot Supertone then I'll get some pics up. Really pleased with it.

what size cab do ineed for a 50 watt valve head?

Don't think you're likely to get better then this for this sort of money: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Hartke-4-5-XL-bass-c...id=p3286.c0.m14 -

Personally I'd save for something like a 4x12 or 2x15. Marshall VBC412's come up now and then for around £150. I'd avoid the Laney 4x10, as all the old Laney 4x10's I've heard have been awful and most of them broken. If you aren't after a hifi clean tone then you'll be fine as long as you have enough drivers/air. My Marshall JCM800 100w Bass series head through my Aguilar GS412 is very very loud indeed. The Aguilar has very good sensitivity though.
