1. A ramp, deffo. Again, the idea of integrating the tuner and ramp makes perfect sense, as do all the ideas herein. A combined ramp/pickup cover(s) is nice too, and still could be changed in future when the covers you really want come in. Not sure about the machine head 'ears' in wood though. A bit too far? Getting closer! Do you have a NBD date yet? RK (btw, the best bit of this build is still to come. After you have taken delivery, every single time you plug it in, or even walk past it in the house, you will smile and recall this build and the bass you got at the end of it. Fantastic!)
2. Some of you may have seen, and followed, my Overwater build thread on here. Great communications, very helpful, and delivered on time. Sorry to hear about commissions where this hasn't been the case. RK
3. Awesome work, as ever! One step closer Captain. RK (I'm GASsing for a new amp and cab now. Does it ever end? ha ha)
4.
What a corker of a bass! And another yes please for the new build diary!
+1 RK
5. Booked a demo next month! oh dear RK
6. Fantastic work, and a detailed build diary! nice one RK
7. Fantastic! Great skills and a very enjoyable build diary. Thanks for sharing RK
8. Its all in the details, as they say. What fabulous quality work. Its interesting that you have retained the Utility aspect of the design, but added the finer touches that make this bass so bespoke to you. Awesome RK
9. Just rang my broker, and told him to buy shares in fretwire! thank you please RK
10. Wow, that is well nice! RK
11. Absolutely stunning, want one! Need one! RK
12. Yeah, Martin at Overwater led me through the spec and build of mine, and he was spot on with all his advice. For many years to come, this bass will make you smile. RK
13. One step closer! Beautiful bass. How much longer until New bass Day? RK
14. Beautiful work! This bass is looking great! RK
15. This is gonna be a hell of a bass. RK
16. Just spotted an acoustic bass with onboard tuner. Might be worth a look? And this: http://www.aqdi.com/ztuner.htm RK
17. Another great idea! The N-Tune looks good. Its not something I had considered before. The bass looks awesome. Lovely wood choice. Great work! RK
18. I'm the one with the loud flowery shirt and the sore nose. RK
19. The slots are for metal inserts that are installed to strengthen the neck/body area on the neck-thru Perception (and the other neck-thru Overwater basses). Once the fretboard goes on they are lost forever! RK
20. One step closer!!!!! Lovely! RK
21. I was nervous when speccing the Overwater string spacing, but Martin recommended 17mm so I went with that. Within a week or so of owning the bass I was totally comfortable with it, to the point where my original Bolt-on now seems vast at 19mm. I guess we get used to anything. I do like the 17mm though. Comfortable and economical, that's the theory at least. Martins advice was spot-on for all aspects of the build. Your bass is gonna be awesome! RK
22. Oh wow! That is absolutely gorgeous! Great work RK
23. Took me a while to get it, but the string spacing you refer to is at the nut. Derrrr, its early. What spacing at the bridge(s)? I suspect 17mm, like mine? Very playable choice. I tried my other Perception at the weekend, which is at 19mm on a Hipshot B Style bridge, and the spacing seems huge! The first of the body colour options shown above is lovely. Don't know where you are based, but if you are ever 'up north', you are welcome to try/view my Overwater. RK
24. I bought some TI Flats, but I couldn't get used to the basic feel of them. I use Overwater Flatwounds, which are super-smooth, and the TI's had a very slight surface 'texture'. Horses and courses, I suppose. Need to get them on the marketplace! RK
25. Hello John, the circuit is awesome, great work. RK
