1.
really as i had the DD-7 and i really dont think the DD-3. just to make it clear im not after a delay pedal....im after THAT sound at 3.30
think you've got the wrong link chap ;p
 2. dd-3 does a similar sound. Or you could always get a space echo ;p
 3.
Shouldn't be that bad, but you can help by starting with both bass and treble set to 9 o'clock, and middle set to 12. That's - very crudely - "flat" for this amp.
middle on full bass and treble on 1 is flat with that tone stack
 4.
I think the new Tecamp Puma 900 uses the chassis to disburse of excess heat. No fan! Cool idea.
pun?
 5.
Thanks for the reply guys, I was supposed to go to the Matamp factory the other week but was too busy. I'll have to re arrange. I've always tought of Matamp as more of a rock sound. i'm after more of a old school funk. Although, it should be said, I've never heard a Matamp. Well, I'm after something old school sounding but can do somthing a little more hifi too. A guy on here is selling a Markbass valve head which looks up my alley. But again not heard much about them (classic 300). Edit: Im not too fussed about weight. And I'll deffo have a look at the EBS valve head as I loved the old EBS SS combo I had. Thanks again chaps.
Matamp have been used by a fair few people in past who didn't do the rock thing (fleetwood mac, bb king etc)
 6. isn't the speaker in the cab that goes with it 400W? - http://www.65amps.com/apollo.html valve recitification isn't a bad thing as long as you put some saftey measures in (new valves have a habbit of dieing and taking the PT with them). They can give a pretty nice break up. Bet the 6sl7 preamp sounds pretty tasty to

 8. drill a hole, wire in a volume pot. tis a cheaper solution
 9. looks good dude, i'd recomend putting another screw in the boards, you dont want them being able to rotate. Twist all the wires from each triodes together aswell, the cathode works as a shield and it'll make it easier to avoid oscillation
 10.
Worth a few hundred quid depending on condition, I had some PA100's the AP's are more desirable due to the Bowie connection, but condition is key with these things. A revalve and full check over by a decent tech will run upto £200 (as with everything you can do this cheaper yourself but do you really want to?) and I wouldn't even turn the thing on if it's just come out of a shed after 30 years of none use. Nice sound out of them, I use to use mine with a Ported Matamp 4x10 and it was loud enough for most bands, with a bit of grit going on. It's a great thing to have around for sure, nice sound, well built
+1 on it needing a service, sell it to me ;D
 11. they're awesome and eat valves, david bowies guitarist used one. Sell it to me i love these things
 12.
You got the Simms Watts PA head up and running yet Mike?
needs a new impedence switch. but it should be good to go after that!
 13.
So... you would get audible creamy valve distortion from a power valve amp, using a SansAmp (for example) as a pre? Just to be clear?
yep if you crank it up and it has enough juice to push it hard!
 14. Personally i think the nice distortion comes from the back end but the best distortion comes from a nice combination of the two!
 15.
i used to have a selmer pa amp as my bass amp! left it in our rehearsal room many years ago after band split doh! used to sound pretty good through my old ampeg cab though
Use one of the t&b 50's for recording with, they're mean sounding amps! based in sheffield
 16.
So in theory it could be driven with a preamp pedal?
aye it's what i've done in the past.
 17.
Is the slave like a valve power amp then? I'd sound monsterous cranked surely?
aye a slave amp is a power amp, It does sound pretty huge when you've got it cranked all the way up. Actually prefered it to my or120 which was a bit thin sounding.
 18. Last one for today is a Selmer Sv100 PA. This is one of the 4 channel ones. They sound great and sound similar to a marshall. They have big iron and are full of nice mullard mustard caps etc. This ones had all the work done to it you'd expect. It's in OK condition for it's age i.e with a few nicks to the tolex and the handle is missing. Can sell this one unvalved or valved as it currently isn't valved up at this moment in time. Does 120watts into 4 / 8 / 16ohms from a quad of el34s After £160 for this without valves or £220 with
 19. Next up is a Fender twin amp. It's one of the newer ones and does everything you expect from a fender twin. Big clean sounds etc. I've got an older one which sounds absolutely magic so i don't really need this one. This amp works pretty good for bass aswell as guitar. This one has lots of bells and whistles like reverb, vibrato, valve buffered effects loop. 100w / 25w switch, external bias pots and tilt back casters. This one is in absolutely MINT condition and comes with a cover. Does 100watts from a quad of 6l6s after around 500OBO for this
 20. Next up is a 50 watt Roost Head. This is one of the leeds era ones as opposed to the earlier ones and thus has a pcb (not a bad thing). Still has big iron and quality bits in it. Sound wise i'd say this head is similar to a Hiwatt (it has some similarities in the circuit) and sounds pretty huge when overdriven, never had a problem gigging with this. This amp is in good nick and has had most of the essential parts replaced and has also had the output transformer rewound by john at champ electronics (probably better than the original) It's 50watts from a pair of el34's into 4 8 or 16 ohms After 300 OBO for this.
 21. Next up is a Watkins Dominator 25. This is a more guitar based amp, can still be used for bass if you so wish though. I've had this one completely apart and replaced lots of bits as it was very poorly when i got it. Sounds great now and does the business. Great amp to have set on full and get some nice lead tones. Has a 80's celestion medium size magnet speaker in it. Does about 15watts and will be loud enough for most guitar gigs. Has mix of mullard and JJ pre valves and a pair of JJ el84's in the output after around 300 OBO for this.
 22. I have to many amps so i thought some people might like to buy some. All amps for sale have been fully serviced. All pots / bases sprayed, out of spec components replaced and valves checked for life etc. First up is a Orange sl120 slave amp. This is essentially the back end of a OR120. It's high quality with big transformers and sounds very nice with a good preamp in front of it. (i've used my own preamp / distortion with it) It does about 120watts and is currently valved up with shuguang valves and i can't remember what pre amp valves. At some point in it's life someone decided to spray it black and try and make it look like a fender amp, i've started to remove some of the paint of the box on the back but didn't have the patience to finish it off. The paint will come off and you can show off the nice orange tolex again. It's missing the handle and feet also. It does 120watts into 4 / 8 and 16ohms with 4Xel34's after 350OBO + postage for this Next up is a carlsbro 50watt 4 channel pa with reverb. Quite fond of these old carlsbro amps as they have a nice sound of their own and break up quite nicely. This one is in pretty good nick apart from missing the Some knobs and the logo has fallen off (logo will be supplied with amp) Does 60watts into 4 / 8 or 16ohms from a pair of el34s Isn't valved up currently but i can do this for you for a price. After 150OBO for this.
 23.
thanks. unfortunately the old gec kt's are completely dead. and no it still has the old caps that would still do it for a while.
you did keep them yes? some techs will tell you owt. doesn't look like anything was replaced in that pic either. The caps will probably still be within spec but they'll be starting to drift
