Total Watts

1. Hey all, I've recently been given a head and cab from a work colleague that they found in their garage. Turns out the head is a Simms-Watts AP100 TS head. It's a nifty little thing that can be used as a PA, Bass or Guitar head. Does anyone know anything about these? I've not really had chance to use it but are they any good? Worth anything? Cheers Dan

Hello.

Superb. It's nice to be here!
3.
The low end is the clean part. Distorting low end tends to make it not low end any more.
Yeah, that was kinda my point. So the moral of the story appears to be, if you want a clean and distorted (or effect) sound then using two amps is sweet. Otherwise it just makes you louder and messier. Well that answered my question nicely! Thanks!
4. Having clean and effect was my first thought but there is nothing clean about that bass sound. Found an interview where Nate says he uses the AD200 because it gives him more low end and the Thunderverb because it gives him a more guitar-amp bite and that he doesn't use any effects.
5. Hey everyone, I'm sure this question has probably been addressed before but I'm new here and thought I'd ask... Firstly, what benefits would you get out of playing through two head/cab combinations live? Nate Newton from Converge uses an Orange Thunderverb and Orange AD200 heads going into Ampeg 8x10 and Ampeg 4x10 cabs (or it might've been a 2x15, can't remember where I read it) at the same time when he plays live (using a Morley ABY pedal). Just wondered what benefits you'd get. Secondly, aside from the obvious logistics issue, what problems and restrictions would you face by doing this? Cheers Dan

Hello.

Hi, Thought I'd best introduce myself before I get stuck into posting. I'm Dan, from Coventry. Been playing in bands for years (mainly hardcore/post-hardcore type of stuff) but recently started a new band and decided to give bass playing a go. Currently rocking a Hartke HA3000 head in a flight case cuddled up with a Korg DTR-1000 tuner. This is sitting on top of a Hartke VX210 2x10 & a Hartke VX410 4x10 cab. These are actually all recent purchases so I've not had chance to use them live but will be on 28th May in Coventry. Oh, and I'm playing an Ibanez GSR200 bass but looking to upgrade to a P Bass soon. That's it really. Pretty new to bass playing but not to being in bands etc Cheers!
