  1. Interesting, I have an Ashdown Little Stubby, and I have just acquired a secondhand CTM100 which is away with the tech as it needs work. So I will check out what you've wrote above, with one of my Ashdown heads!
  2. Thanks for the responses guys. It was a 12 hour charity event, 1 band played per hour for 40 minutes. So the pub was full of musicians and was packed with the general public . I got good feedback. Hopefully my next gig isn't to far away. @Bilbo ha the old joke about Jazz musicians is everybody is so busy doing there own thing that there in the wrong key 😁. I do agree, I've often though isn't the whole point " the gig ". I do find it relaxing playing at home. Come up with a bass line that was very Danzig in sound!
  3. Listening to this Rich beach https://open.spotify.com/artist/42M9ufX5a2DxV75o0jUQjs
  4. So the gig was last Saturday. The band had a session drummer that only got to rehearse once and the vocalist was an old friend of the band, because our vocalist is ill. I took spare strings, guitar cleaner and polish, cloth, tuner, my amp head and cab, and spare picks. Just in case I didn't like the venue's. Mistakes where made by everyone in the band, and even though I know my bass parts really well I rely on the drummer and lyrics quite a lot..I got quite nervous as it was my first gig. I did kind of enjoy it.
  5. Rickenbacker 4003, chrome on black doesn't get any better than that!
  6. My new to me Rickenbacker 4003 I've had about a month, been putting it through its paces.
  7. To give equal output for all 5 strings.
  8. Indeed and that is what is great about this forum. I was given the advice to get the noise suppression pedal by a touring musician for the reasons I stated. I doubt I will get any other pedals other that the noise suppression and tuner pedal both will probably be Boss items. Having said that my Positive Grid Bias Amp head has noise suppression built in.
  9. Rick's still hum in this country 😉 Sold my five string Rick, going to collect my 4 string Rick on Thursday !
  10. Cliff Burton played a Rick. Also the various Bassist of Hawkwind use a Rick, integral to Hawkwinds sound..
  11. Thanks for the replies guys. I've been told there is backline gear there. The reason I was going to get a noise suppression pedal is Rickenbackers can be sensitive to EMG and produce 60hz hum and Rickenbackers are single coil, plus if the venue has bad electrics it should deal with that. I don't really have a small Cat D head I cam take. If it wasn't for the backline gear I was going to use my Ashdown Little Stubby and Ashdown ABM115. I'll be sure to glare at the drummer if there's any mistakes 😂
  12. Would like to say thanks for the advice greatly received and taken on board. Particular thanks go out to @Bunion
  13. So Guys, The pub has a PA system. I'm thinking to get a noise suppression pedal and tuning pedal. My Ashdown Little Stubby has a DI out which is 6.5mm jack. Am I expected to supply the cable to connect to there PA system?
  14. I believe it is in The Lord Nelson, down Poole. I would think we might do the Savage track, we've yet to talk about set list.
  15. Recently I went for a jam with a band to see if I was up to being in a band playing NWOBH original songs, with the odd cover thrown in for good measure. They liked what they heard. Well it went and happened! Got my first gig! Can't wait! In April.
  16. I was just thinking earlier about how I progress with learning tracks. I have up until the band I'm trying out for, learnt exclusively by tab. Thanks to this band I have realised my ears are more developed than I thought, and I am seeing that learning a track by ear is much quicker than learning by tab. So I thought I need to change the way I learn. So like you I thought I should be able to learn the bones of the tracks by ear, and look up the tricky bits by tab.
  17. At the moment I'm listening to there 1980 demo The Devil Takes You. Really digging the bass in that song, fantastic.
  18. Yeah thankfully the guitarist gave me roughly the key changes of the song. So I was then able to work it out by ear. Worked well. Have to say I'm listening to Savage's one and only album Loose and Lethal. Decent NWOBHM, think late 70's early 80's era.
  19. Figured it out.
  20. Hi guys and gals. I've been asked to go for a jam with a metal band seeking a bassist. I've been asked to learn there original material which is going well. But they've also asked me to learn Cry Wolf by Savage. I've searched everywhere but can't find any tab. Whilst I could try and take the song apart by ear, it would take me a long while. So if anybody know of any tab that would be great
  21. I use Dunlop 65 Ultraglide String Cleaner and Conditioner. I currently use SIT nickel round wound strings, which are David Ellefson signature strings.
  22. Sorry guys going to have to pull out of this.
  23. Dope-Take Your Best Shot
  24. That wouldn't be for a band called Endea would it?
