Positive Grid model Ashdown Ampheads in there Bias Amp 2 software. There is even a Ashdown cab sim software which you can purchase from a company called Two Notes.

There is a thread. I can dig the values of the modded tone pots, I have it on my laptop. The person on the thread claimed they got the new tone pot valus from Ashdown and Dave Green. That said person also lives in Dorset, and by pure coincidence uses the same amp tech as me. When I had my CTM head revalved. I mentioned about changing the tone pots, and asked loads of questions. One of the questions was regarding would it change the fundamental tone of the head? Changing the tone pots gives a bigger sweep on each adjustment but does not fundamentally change the overall tone of the CTM 100. I can verify this. To answer the OP question. The CTM 100 is very loud. I play in a metal band. Will easily keep up with the drummer. With either my Ashdown ABM115 Compact cab or my Albion BLS410 cab. I have two Albion BLS410 cabs, never needed the two!

I'm not really a reviewer as such. But I recently wrote a song which is only at instrumental stage with no lyrics, I've previously recorded two versions one with me using the Rickenbacker, which my mate mixed. And the other version of the song using my Sterling Musicman 4hh, which I mixed. I could rerecord it with the Schecter P4 Exotic.

I bought it. I arranged with Andertons to have ago on one today. Just finished noodling it. The tones you can get out of the bass is very impressive, can't believe this is a P bass! The neck is great. Surprisingly I get on fine with the 16" radius fret board. The build quality isn't quite up there with Rickenbacker, but then I wouldn't expect it to be, given the price difference. I can see this becoming my favourite bass.

When I played a charity festival earlier in the year. They hired FOH gear for the afternoon and night. Hiring is an option that maybe worth considering, depending how many gigs you play needing FOH. Having said that even though there was FOH gear. They had no subs, as its a small venue/stage. So the bass was provided by Ashdown EB 15-180 Combo, which went plenty loud enough. When I next gig, I'll be using my Ashdown CTM100 into a Ashdown ABM115 Compact, very old original 500W version, with the original driver in!

I have both an active and a passive bass. I tried a 5 string bass just didnt get on with it. So stick to 4 strings. If the Scheter P4 Exotic had a 9.5-10" radius I'd be all over it.

I get that, thats one of the points i also consider. Though the P4 is active compared to the Fenders. Plus the P4 is 16" radius fretboard. Which is why id want to try one before id buy one.

I have to say I really like the look of this bass! The review by Cici was helpful, this might be the first P I own..

In an originals band, but we do play the odd cover in our set. The band has been around since the 80's. We are re-doing the originals, and I hope we will be writing completely new material, something to get my teeth into.

Interesting, I have an Ashdown Little Stubby, and I have just acquired a secondhand CTM100 which is away with the tech as it needs work. So I will check out what you've wrote above, with one of my Ashdown heads!

Thanks for the responses guys. It was a 12 hour charity event, 1 band played per hour for 40 minutes. So the pub was full of musicians and was packed with the general public . I got good feedback. Hopefully my next gig isn't to far away. @Bilbo ha the old joke about Jazz musicians is everybody is so busy doing there own thing that there in the wrong key 😁. I do agree, I've often though isn't the whole point " the gig ". I do find it relaxing playing at home. Come up with a bass line that was very Danzig in sound!

So the gig was last Saturday. The band had a session drummer that only got to rehearse once and the vocalist was an old friend of the band, because our vocalist is ill. I took spare strings, guitar cleaner and polish, cloth, tuner, my amp head and cab, and spare picks. Just in case I didn't like the venue's. Mistakes where made by everyone in the band, and even though I know my bass parts really well I rely on the drummer and lyrics quite a lot..I got quite nervous as it was my first gig. I did kind of enjoy it.

Rickenbacker 4003, chrome on black doesn't get any better than that!

Indeed and that is what is great about this forum. I was given the advice to get the noise suppression pedal by a touring musician for the reasons I stated. I doubt I will get any other pedals other that the noise suppression and tuner pedal both will probably be Boss items. Having said that my Positive Grid Bias Amp head has noise suppression built in.
