1.
Firstly which of these would be best as a first amp head: Ashdown ABM 300 Evo II (Used) Ashdown MAG 600 (Used) Ashdown Little Giant 350 (New) They are all around the same price so that doesn't come into it. I'll have about £350 left for cabs then. So would the Ashdown MAG 210T and MAG115 be good choices. I really like the Ashdown stuff (demoed a MAG 300 combo) but if anyones got any better ideas then go ahead. I'll be using this for small to medium sized gigs, with and without PA. I'm looking at 2 seperate cabs instaed of a 410 as I'm off to uni in September so will need something that can be broken down. Thanks in advance.
I've got a MAG600 with the 210 and 115 cabs, not a bad setup plenty of power and a good sound. The MAG cabs can be a bit boomy and need a compressor to help tighten things up IMO. Also (as i'm sure you know) the head will output more than the cabs can take, so be careful with the volume knob!
 2.
There are likely to be a lot of these compact lightweight heads coming out over the coming years. I know EBS are working on something similar.

eagerly awaiting the EBS digital amps (just got to keep the gas at bay until they are available).
Didn't know EBS were making a compact head, was looking at little mark but may have to wait for these!
 3.
I've just played one of these with some flatwounds. Sounded great. Got my heart set on something else but I think this is real good value for money for anyone interested in an acoustic.
Thanks! Replied to your PM.
 4.
I'd say that this is a real bargain!!!
Thanks, it will be a shame to see it go, but i never play it and its a waste to leave it sat in a corner!
 5. As has been said listen to as much different stuff as possible and not just the bass lines, guitar parts, horn sections, piano parts. Work some out on a bass, they all have a different ways making the parts fit in the song it all adds to your library. A good practice method is to take a line you know and change the feel (Rock to Reggae, Soul to Metal etc.) you'll find that those notes don't have to sound like that song. Also you should start to hear places where you could add a note or change something to modify the riff if you keep playing with it you will soon find yourself playing a completely different riff of you own making. Hope this helps / makes sence
 6.
A freind of mine really likes your Trace rig would you take £500??>? where are you located?
I think £495 is a fair price, but I do need to sell so would consider sensible offers! I'm in Liphook, Hants on the A3.
 7.
Thanks for responses. Bassmouseman. Thanks for letting me know about the Takamine. Distance is a major barrier, Stockport to Linconshire. Bit of a problem for someone with an irrational hatred of driving. Thanks again. Had a look at a few acoustics today and this stands out the most: Tacoma CB10 Thunderchief. http://www.mattsmusic.com/Merchant2/mercha...Acoustics1/CB10 Seems a brilliant price at £435, as the cheapest I've seen over here is £699. Can you ship an acoustic from the States? I'm waiting for a response from the retailers about the possibility of this but it would concern me.
Yes that is quite a drive!
I came across these yesterday (only on the web, not to play). Looks lovely IMO. 5 string version as well, and available for around £250 over here.
A friend has the guitar version, its nice, good sound through a PA.

 9. My Takamine acoustic is up for sale Takamine Acoustic
 10. For sale is Takamine G series 4 string Acoustic. Model EG512C Bought this new for a project that never really took off and it has hardly been used! Bass is loud for an acoustic and is fine unplugged for jam with acoustic guitars. Has a great sound unplugged. This is an older pre-amp model (no tuner) the sound plugged in is very good. Comes with Kinsman gig bag. Pick up only as I would worry about sending an acoustic via courier! Price £175

 12. Hi Mark welcome to Basschat!
 13. Thats nice! Good job its not a 5 or I would have the credit card out!
 14.
I use an EXP pedal with mine always. I have it so that when the pedal is full back, I get a horribly ear-raping high-frequency full picking tone, kinda like justin chancellor live, but a bit more nasty. I also use it with overdrive and/or dist to make some funky wah sounds! You can get it to sound really "vocal".
Not tried mine with a EXP pedal yet, but have been wanting to since i used a std wah for recording last year. Something else to add to my GAS list!
 15.
What's the boss pedal with the flash pointing at it? AW-3? What do you think of it? I have an AW-3 which I like, but i've read loads of crap reviews of it.
Correct its an AW3, I really like it! was looking for an Envelope filter and tried it out in the shop, never read any reviews. Can make some crazy sounds when used with the overdrive pedal (another pedal I like but has some bad reviews!) I'm going to check out the reviews now
 16. This is mine. Still playing with the position of the BBE, i'm just not sure where i like it best first or last, maybe i need 2!
 17. you should be able to get a daisy chain adapter and cut off the 3 you don't want. just make sure you tape up the end where you make the cut.
 18.
I finally tracked one down at a well know retailer in Guildford
Does it begin with 'A' by any chance? not the first time i've heard this sort of story, a friend bought a PRS custom guitar from there and had to get it set up somewhere else, very annoying, it took him 5 years to save for that guitar!
 19. Saw them a few years ago in Guildford, one of the best gigs i've been to!
