I recently bought a Danelectro Cool Cat Chorus; it all works fine but only one of the original screws in the baseplate exists. Does anyone know where I can get suitable replacements? I know bugger all about this. It's got a domed top and the thread length is 8mm, but I've no idea what the thread itself is. It looks like this:

I haven't come back to this for a while, but I'd actually found his website and he made me up the decals I was looking for. Very good service, and very good quality as far as I can tell.

Scimitar is a great name for a bass

The Staytrem might not be suitable as it's set it a 9.5" radius, which I'd hazard a guess won't match the fretboard radius. I'm sure I also read that the Staytrem isn't compatible with the Jaguar mute.

No worries Dave, and thanks for your reply on here and eBay. I've tried a few other places but if I can't get it sorted I'll just plough on with having the headstock sprayed and left plain black.

I had a response back from Rothko & Frost, but it transpires that they're the company that the luthier was using to create the decals, which I discovered when I opened an attached mock-up to be presented with the same decal I had already rejected 😂

I've sent them an email with the spec, I couldn't see an appropriate option on the site but they seem to do quite a few options. For context, what I'm after is this: With (preferably) the JV Squier logo in place of Fender:

I don't know if this is more appropriate to this sub-forum, or the Accessories one, but I'm looking for recommendations for custom Headstock decals. I'm looking to get my Bass VI headstock sprayed black to match the body, but I'll need a new decal to put on it. Ideally, I'd like a replica of the 60s Fender Bass VI logo, but with the Squier one in place of Fender. The luthier who is doing the work had sent me over some mock-ups, courtesy of his own decal guy, but they weren't quite what I was looking for and we hit an impasse. Has anyone got any recommendations for who can do this sort of work?

My Bass VI. I'm torn between having the headstock painted black, or just selling it because it's not getting used. The Staytrem bridge and trem arm/collet make a huge difference in the way the trem functions. The pickups sound really nice as well; they got a lot of compliments from the staff in the shop when I took it in for a set up.

I assumed they'd come to Anderson's at some point. I'd need to see it in the flesh, but there's something off about the LPB colour for me. I had a Chinese Squier CV 60s FSR Strat that was the right shade of blue for my liking; somewhere between LPB and Ice Blue Metallic. I think I actually prefer the Walnut out of the two, and I say that as someone who hates black blocks and binding on a maple neck. I wonder if these will be like the Shell Pink ones that were on pre order for the best part of a year before they reached the shops.

I've got a Squier CV Bass VI in black. I swapped the tuners for Gotoh Vintage-style machine heads, added a Staytrem Bass VI bridge, and a Staytrem collet and trem arm that I had left over from an old Jazzmaster. I tried the Newtone strings but I didn't think they were much better than the stock ones. I bit the bullet and bought the La Bella flats and they're much better in terms of tension and I can get a much nicer action on it now. I did all that and promptly put it under the bed. I get it out from time to time, but I never really know what to do with it. I do like both the Lake Placid Blue and Walnut versions from CME: https://www.instagram.com/p/ChpYdezO8ua/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

Wouldn't that mean it's no longer exclusive? 🤔

1983 Squier JV PB-57 Precision - *SOLD*

Sorry, I hadn't seen this reply until I was browsing through this section. I've decided not to go ahead with trying to restore the pickguard; I'd had the body resprayed and the tort looks rubbish with the new colour, so I'm going to stick the off-white one I've got.

After a brief dalliance in the world of short scale, up for sale is my Squier Vista Series Musicmaster Bass. I bought this back in June after having wanted one for years, but the 30" scale just isn't for me. Made in China for a year in around 1996, so 26 years old now. It's in excellent condition overall, with just one small chip on the rear side, and some light surface scratches on the back, but is very clean on the front. The top coat has clearly yellowed over the years and is now a much deeper colour of pink. The pickguard has also aged but must have had a sticker on it at some point as the shadow of it is still there. When it arrived it was pretty grubby and had a broken nut, so I stripped it, cleaned all the hardware, and shielded the cavities, and had a new nut made for it at Strung Out in Glasgow, who also gave the frets a good polish while they were at it. I re-strung it with a set of medium scale D'Addario Chromes so that they fit through the body. Wiring all works and has the Vista Tone pickup, though the VT logo on the pickup was a bit damaged so I removed it altogether for a cleaner look. It sounds very meaty, not what I expected from a short scale, with a lot of P Bass-style clank with the tone open. Price is what I paid for it 3 months ago, not including the cost of the new nut or strings. Comes with a cheap-but-functional gig bag, and I've got a box so shipping should be doable. Any questions, just let me know.

That sounds ideal for the additional pot hole, and was pretty much what I had in mind. For the pickup hole however, my thought was that you would need to enlarge the current rout, then glue in a new piece and cut a new pickup hole out of it to neaten it up. It seems a lot of hassle now, having written it all down

My JV Precision has a pretty nice tortoiseshell pickguard, which I believe is the original as when it was being resprayed, we discovered it would have originally been sunburst. However, the pickguard has been drilled for an additional pot from when someone had fitted a Jazz pickup, and the hole for the P pickup has been enlarged pretty poorly and is a bit wonky. Is there anywhere/anyone who does pickguard repairs? As it's tortoiseshell I know it'll never be a perfect match but the pattern on it is much nicer than a lot of the cheap printed tortoiseshell available just now.
