Isn't the 'clank' baked into GK amps? Only one I ever had was a Fusion 500 (with valve preamp) and that sounded fine but it's not really a GK sounding amp. I'd flog it if I were you and buy something that doesn't require so much effort.

We've recently taken to using just 1 of our Mackie Thump FOH speakers for smaller gigs. No power amp required, just a small desk. We have 2 vocals, some kick drum and a smidge of guitar going through it. You can then add another one at your leisure if required. Would be a cheap enough solution for now.

I have a WT800 (USA) head and absolutely love it. As stated above, it's a lovely warm sound with a valvey creaminess to it. EQ is excellent and detailed but tbh, it sounds great with everything at 12 o'clock. It's a heavy beast though so doesn't get used all of the time. I reckon it's the best sounding amp I've had along with my Weber Mywatt which is top quality, all valve and hand wired.
