You should be able to get 2 1x12's in the boot of a corsa. I have listed lots in the basschat wiki with links to all the relevant websites. My only other advice would be to try as many as you can. Any decent 3x10 or 2x12 should be able to compete with 2 thin stringers.
Thanks guys methinks its down to either two 112 Zoots or a 2x12 Aggie. Im of on holiday in sunny plymouth for a week and will mull it over. Keep on sending your recommendations tho. Guitarists.........bunch of loud grassholes!

Well guys my head is now totally done in! Ive been round in circles trying to decide which way to go. I play Doods old Tobias 6 and a Fender Jazz fretless through my Markbass LM2 and a presonus tube pre that gives me that little bit of warmth when I need it. I play in three bands ,genre's varying from blues, fusion and rock. So my dilema is what cab? Up till now I have been using home build cabs (1x12 Eminence and 2x10 PAS in Bagend spec cabs). These are getting a bit dogeared now and Im looking for (ideally) a standalone 4ohm cab that will fit in my Corsa 3 door hatch. So heres the rub, I need to be able to shift air but dont want to get a hernia. Im torn because I like twelves so Ive been looking at Zoot 112 and 212 formats, also the Aguilar 212 (slightly less expensive). Ive seen the Warwick 611 and 411 pro cabs with 10's (competitively priced) but heavier to heave about. Im not in a position to try gear at leisure so I have to get a clear picture using you guys experience with these cabs. I really like the Aguilar 212 idea but does anyone out there use one in a band with two guitarists? I should know the answer to this after 44 years as a player but, as I said, my head is done in. Your input would be most welcome.

My early MIJ Jazz with reflex reds and badass, battered to buggery......I love heeeeem...sob My teal green MM Stingray.....why....oh why? Yes folks I am a silly backstard!

When Im in the groove locked in tight with the drummer its generally eyes closed lookin cool. When funkin I engage with the punters and move arround generally to find that 'sweet spot' for my bass tone. I have been known to get a bit carried away but on the whole keep fluffs to a minimum. Punters rarely notice if you do screw up, you just make it look like you meant to do it and 'make art'.

Mature reliable and very capable bass player with long gig history/sessions, drum n bass, funk, fusion, rock, blues seeks work in established gigging band. I am also interested in putting together a project band writing and performing original material. I play six string fretted and four string fretless basses and I have good gear and my own transport. I am inspired by Bruford/Levin and Peter Gabriel.

Bruford/Levin Upper Extremities......truly awesome! Ive got Alan Holdsworth 'Then' in the car.

Newt beer festival near Bridgewater last night. We (The Ben Fletcher Band) were second on the bill. Loadsa people, loadsa beer and very good atmos. There were large numbers of people all sat outside smoking during the first band which was a shame. When we came on it rained so they all came in, estimated about 1000 plus. We proceeded to kick some serious butt during our 85 minutes with the Tobias sixxer (thanks again Dude) producing some 'brown moments' among the crowd!! I pulled off a solo on fretless which seemed to go down well. All in all a great gig, shame it cant be like that a couple of times a week! My thanks to all the sound guys who did an excellent job.
My 12 Year old told me this morning she's taking a bass into school on Monday and has booked a rehearsal room (I don't remember having those at MY school) and she's recruited a guitarist, keyboard player & drummer. She has three short scale basses: a Fender musicmaster and two Daisy Rocks, but wants to use my Peavey 5 string!
A budding Tal Wilkenfield! You must be proud!

I have two basses at every gig. My Tobias sixxer covers all the guitarists different tunings and my fretless Fender jazz 'frankenbass' for when Im feeling slidy. May I add that I also carry a comprehensive tool kit just in case.

Sunday 'Jam night' at the Back bar in Weston super Mare......aaaargh it was loud! Succession of loud and jangly newbs bless em and one young drummer who was quite impressive. I tried the Adam Nitti piece Yin & Yang and it sounded ok (didnt fall on my arse like I thought I would). All in all an ok evening.Scallys jam night on thurs gotta get some earplugs!
-
Yin & Yang by the Adam Nitti trio (its on youtube).....Ive worked out the basic motif...but I dont stand a hope in hell with the rest. Im going to try it tonight (and fall on my arse).

Can anyone recommend an authorized Markbass engineer. Ive tried contacting Proel (uk distributor) both by phone and email but for some reason the phone number is not recognized and they are not replying to my emails!

Richmond Arms Bournmouth last night with the Ben Fletcher band. Nice venue with access straight onto the stage from the car park. Good crowd very receptive.I tried out my Presonus tube pre with my Markbass LM2 and it made the fretless sing. I really need to get my hearing checked out though, it seems after 43 years of bass playing Ive lost a lot of upper frequency. I think also that I need a Neo cab....here we go...its gas time again!

Played a 40th birthday party at Weston football club. Used my Precision 'Frankenbass' with Dimarzio split P rails. Awesome punchy sound. Usual polite applause with oldies strutting their stuff and kiddies running round being a pain. Still....its paying off the new amp.

Well...my gig on Friday night was the Pier Tavern Burnham on sea and we were first of three bands on the bill. I got to meet a five string Alembic toting bass player in the headline band and had a really cool chat about all things bass. I had my brand spankers Trace Elliot AH500 set up all sexy and green. The sound check (for want of better words) was fine then came the time to start. First few bars in and.........no sound!! My amp was not having any and boy was I crapping myself. We had loads of musos and the place was rammed. So I called for a d.i. box and did the first set on monitors only!! Thankfully Mr Alembic saved my arse by letting me use his rig and we aced it in spite of all the sh*te. Now as a three piece you can imagine what a challenge that was. Last night was at Brean sands (Jumpin Jax) complete with kiss me quick holiday makers from brum. I borrowed an SWR 350 which was ok and between us we gave good account of ourselves adding the obligatory 'play that funky music' which went down well. Now as you may know or experienced for yourself all that runs through your mind when you are ampless is 'what the hell do I do now'. I love Trace gear and have used it for many years. To buy new and have the hassle of warranty/ repairs sh*te tends to take your mind off of business. Tonight we are hosting a jam night at the 'Back Bar' in Weston super Mare and today finds me running hither and thither trying to borrow a backup!!! So gentlemen this week 'I are mostly bein stressed'! Am taking the amp back to the shop on wednesday and asking for a replacement. Any hint of hassle and I'll have my money back!

OK Im 55 and Ive been playing bass for 43 years....flip me its been that long and I feel like Ive only scratched the surface! It was Mr Jamerson who was to blame shortly followed by Mr Bruce. Ive lost count of the bands Ive been part of and have many fond memories of basses owned, my first was an Egmond lucky seven purchased for 13 guineas (remember them? Im a fingerstyle player and a dabbler in slap and tapping but no means an expert. I still play semi pro and Im in 3 bands, mainly rock and progressive blues. My dream gig would be with Jeff Beck (yeh I know Tal is prettier) . I listen to Tony Levin, Doug Wimbish and Billy Sheehan because I love their unconventional approach to bass playing. My aim for some years now has been to find my own style and signature sound and push the boundaries. Im small beer compared to some of the enormous talent I have seen and I think so many years at this game has brought me to a place where I just simply love being up on stage with good musicians communicating with the audience. I play four stringers now having delved into five and six string territory (carpal tunnel put paid to that) and Im seriously considering going totally fretless. Ive got my Fender Jazz unlined frankenbass and a Fender precision special with a fretted maple neck (thats a MIM) with a Badass 11 (I think it will have to go to fund another..nicer fretless). Im gassing for a Zon but Im short of sponds having just bought a new amp. So there you go...thats me the baldy old billy goat!

Michael Manrings Zon Hyperbass because it is the ultimate fretless for me. Just listen to 'The enormous room'....beautiful.

Due to the sudden demise of my MBLM2 I am in need of a new rig. I play mainly fretless (unlined Fender Jazz frankenbass) in a progressive blues band. I engineered my home build cabs 1x12 delta and 2x10 bagend with le son horn arround Bagend specs. It sounded cool with the MB2 but now Ive lost confidence in that marque (there are good and bad in all makes and I am not knocking them and would prefer not to enter into discusion on this thread). I am currently faced with two trains of thought. One is to buy a GK 700rb (I have had GK before and was well pleased). However I have not used one with fretless so would invite your comments if you have. Two would be to get a Tech 21 RBI (this would severely stretch my budget) and a Crown XLS 402D. There is of course the smaller cheaper option of the Para or prog. I need to address this pretty soon as Ive a stack of work coming my way. What do you think?
