Thunderbirds

I have a Tokai one and had to have it set up and frets stoned (thats a new one). Its really nice to play but I now wish I had bought the Epi, purely because you have the potential for a 'Fenderbird' if the neck breaks.

10.
Tell him he just walked into my top 10 of distortions on tape
I aked him and yes he still has his old P bass and still uses it. He also (I think) still has his Vox cabs. Lovely guy, I wish I could have had longer but you know what it is with this packing up lark. Id love to come over for a jam, its a bit of a treck for me on a tuesday night with early work on weds. Very tempted though.
11.
Ahh! That's fantastic! I would have loved to have seen your face mate, when the penny dropped! Priceless! How was the gig? Ya have a good one?
Im still laughing....yes it looked like it was going to be one of those 'one man and his dog' audiences but suddenly the place was rammed and they loved us. Looking forward to meeting him again, it appears thats his local.....two Marshall majors!!...in his loft!! Hope all is good with you.
12. Played at Fagins in Taffs Well in Wales last night and at the end had a really nice conversation with this short guy dressed all in denim with long dark hair. We talked about valve amps ,particularly Marshall majors of which it transpires he has a couple. So I say 'so you must be a bass player' at which he smiles and says yes. He went on to say some nice things about my band while I continued packing up. My guitarist comes over and says 'thats Burke and I say 'no he's a really nice guy'.......guitarist says 'no you twirp thats Burke Shelley'...then the penny dropped!! I went back over to him while he was signing autographs and apologised. In case you are wondering Burke Shelley is (still) the bass player for Budgie!! I wish I had a marker pen, he would have signed my Thunderbird. I shall never live that down!! Next time we go there I shall be penned up......that made my day.
The Worried Men complete with Hatori on bass will mostly be supporting The Pirates 14th March at The Thunderbolt Bristol and Wishbone Ash 25 April at The Cheese and Grain Frome. A date for Wilko Johnson is being arranged look out for updates.
Wilco Johnson is May 30th Mr Kyps in Poole. Some big ones under negotiation.
14. I play in a kickass RnB three piece, a sort of cross between Dr Feelgood and Motorhead. Its called 'The Worried Men'. www.theworriedmen.com
15. I started playing bass in 1963 at age 11. My first bass was a Rosetti lucky 7 hollow body with strings you could drive a bus under.
16.
No. The impedance selector is there to match the cab to the output stage, ensuring the output valves have the correct load so they will always deliver the full output.
Thank you sir.

18. Is the power output of an all valve amp (Marshall JCM800) proportional to the impedance selected i.e. 100watts @4ohms 50watts@ 8ohms as is the case with SS amps?
19. Feck feck feck arse.....why do you mock me......what can I sell. Yes folks I love em!!
20. Check the wiring in your cabs for loose connections/dry joints.
21. Correct gentlemen there is virtually no difference apart from a bright cap . By linking the two channels I get some nice tonal variation. Back in the late 70's I used superlead heads and 4x12's (showing my age now).
22. Ive just bought Nash's Marshall JCM 800 superlead non master volume amp. Believe me when I say....its feckin thunder personified when using my Thunderbird. Ive got a vintage straight front 4x12 Marshall and for what I do its all brilliant. My Markbass LM2 is now my backup!
23. There are two G12 greenbacks at 25w each and two no brand. All are 16 ohm. Cab wired 16ohm at 100watts. Apparently no brands are knackered, G12s look new. I have a feeling the no brands would last a couple of days at most before dying. As I said before when it comes to getting the best out of the head I need something with a bit of sensitivity.Putting four Eminence delta 12lfs in would be like overkill. I cant find any info on speakers used in the early Marshall bass cabs.
24. Having recently aquired Nash's Marshall JCM 800 lead series amp (which is lush) I now have to turn my attention to an old Marshall straight front 4x12 that was generously given to me. Unfortunately the speakers are knackered so I shall need new ones. Im looking at probably 300 watts at 4ohms overall but have no real in depth knowledge regarding what I should be looking at regarding sensitivity. So Im open to suggestions. Can you help?
