2. i've been using a mag 300 combo for about 8 years now - its never shaken my rib cage but it has always been loud enough (i've done theatre shows to metal gigs to function gigs with it). incredible 'work horse' combo.
3. i got a bear strap and i love it - made to the length i requested (under £30 if i remember right) http://www.bearstraps.com/
4. A friend of mine asked me to sell this for her - it's pretty much unused and has lived most of its life under a bed. anyhow she's now looking to travel the world so would like to get rid. the asking price is £170 o.n.o. 5. envy :/ i'm glad its that good though - i'm definitely continuing my search for one.
6. Excellent Condition - never gigged - only used to mess about with at home. Bought at the London Guitar show about 5 years ago but has mainly sat on a shelf since. Comes in original box and with PS200R power supply (digitech recommended) which was bought separately. The manual is missing but if I find it I will send it on. The only reason for the change is that it is not compatible with my new set up's power supply chain (d'oh) I'd like to straight trade for a Boss CEB-3 chorus or EHX Neo Clone, or swap + money your way for something more classy. Otherwise - £40 (+postage) is the asking price http://www.flickr.co.../in/photostream http://www.flickr.co.../in/photostream http://www.flickr.co.../in/photostream Thanks J (hopefully some pictures have been posted on here somewhere - at least the links should work
7. I wish -stevie wonder Rescue me - fontella bass? my first, my last, my everything - Barry White 9-5 - dolly parton you could probably do something with car wash (rose royce) / filthy gorgeous (scissor sisters) in a medley type thing

9. nice one guys - I'll keep an eye on the situation Just by way of explanation - it wasn't really possible to address it mid-song during rehearsal time because the band leader is a stress-fueled kind of guy so the emphasis is on the rehearsal schedule and topping/tailing the tunes rather than getting the numbers bang-on-correct first time. that being said, the tunes were all fine except for the tempo issue. I also had addressed it in private because I didn't want it to seem like I was showing him up in front of employers. BUT - with hindsight and reading your responses, taking more of a "we've been slowing down" approach would've been more tactful. D'oh. I'm pretty good friends with this guy and I really don't think it's a personal problem that's been distracting him - it's more like bad practice/laziness and his response was that of 'oh s**t I've been caught out' more than anything. so in short - i'm off to buy a cattle prod. p.s. it's definitely him slowing down not me speeding up
10.
If there's no problem and he's just in a "can't be arsed, get out of my face" frame of mind, best leave him to fester for a bit. He'll come round.
its a lot more like that hopefully its the kick up the arse he needed.....
11. I wasn't really able to address it during the rehearsal because it wasn't really me running the gig. He's usually fine playing with and without a click - I hope he has taken it on board - I really don't want this to be an ongoing thing :/
12. Has anyone else had a drummer freak out on them? I play regularly with a drummer friend of mine in a few different bands (a big band, a '50s tribute show and a function type outfit) and I've know him personally for about 15 years. Over the last few weeks i've noticed that he's been slowing down during numbers (especially during upbeat numbers) and didn't know whether it was through bad practice, no practice or intentionally pulling the band back for effect. it's worth noting at this point that when i notice him slowing down i try to push him with what i'm playing but he usually clean ignores me. Knowing what a sensitive issue this sort of thing is with drummers, I spoke to him about it in the car on the way back from a rehearsal the other day (I didn't want it to seem like I was having a go at him in front of people/ peers/ colleagues). I spoke in the most inoffensive way I know how tried to be constructive yet-not- patronising and asked if a) he was aware of the problem and to please correct it. Toys out of pram - hasn't spoken to me properly since. how should I have approached this? I mean, none of us like to be told we're wrong, but I was trying to help - he's not a bad drummer and I wouldn't like to think he might lose work because of an issue like this (the tempo not the stropping) was this a rant? if so, I'm done
13. Thanks BigRedX - I'll check it out
14.
I just always check they are at least finger tight when I put the bass on. If not then finger tight will get you through the gig and then get the spanner out later.
yeah I've pretty much made it a routine in-between-song check. I've used a wrench but it doesn't seem to be much more effective/ last longer than just hand-tightening them.
15. separate from the button issue, but on the whole strap lock subject...... has anyone ever had issues with the hex nut loosening itself? this has happened with my warwick and schaller locks any remedies or is it just a fact of life?
16. haha i got caught with this one yesterday - couldn't find anything yamaha- related to do with it
17. i got one of the basic models of these made - relatively inexpensive and very comfortable (and exactly the size i asked for) http://www.bearstraps.com/
18. I saw this too - brilliant set (not at all a 'greatest hits' set) showcasing the whole band. The only criticism was that there was a horrible bit of feedback that happened every time the piano was featured. That being said, I was totally left wanting more (even though the set was 1.5 hours long) and definfitely want to see MM again. It was the first time I'd been to the Cheltenham festival and found it to be very well organised - the box office couldn't have been more helpful and I'd totally recommend it to anyone who's interested in jazz (even if you're not, the festival is more or less in the middle of town and it's a really nice place)
