FS/FT Modulus 4FB - Silver Sparkle - SOLD SOLD

It's finally time for me to let go of my first true love .. my Modulus Flea Bass! I have had the Modulus bass for 7 years and it's been an awesome! it's turned heads at every gig I played and the sound is just something truely amazing ... maybe even too good haha. however, I have now moved on in style and sound with my Sadowsky and am hoping to add another VJ bass to my collection. I am now finding myself leaving the Modulus at home more and more. I think it's time it had a new home Here is the spec; 22 fret, 34" scale carbon fiber bolt-on neck White pearl pickguard Chrome Hardwear Silver Sparkle w/matching headstock Bartolini MM Pickup Aguilar active preamp w/ passive bass and treble It comes with original hardcase (with my own added decorations as you will see from pictures ) As it's over 7 years old, it's had it's bumps and knocks .. most noticeable is on the headstock where a small part of the silver sparkle has chipped off (bass dropped when strap came off). there are also a few small marks on the back of the neck that I have tried to capture, but hardly noticable and there are a few scuffs on the silver sparkle body .. but you can only slightly feel these rather than see them. I am looking for £900 for this (taking into account the chipped headstock and the slow market at the moment) and will arrange courier for delivery. I am also open to trades and would be happy to consider any 4 string Sadowsky Metro, Modulus VJ, Lakeland, Sandberg .. just fire away Here are pictures ... enjoy (remember, the chip on the headstock makes it authentic)
I haven't played any Metros, but all the NYC Sadowskys I've played sounded better with the pre-amp off.
interesting you should say that, as I have just been playing my Metro in passive mode for the first time ... wow, very interesting indeed. added to the fact that I was switching between pick ups with the VTC turned nearly off .. I got some amazings sounds that made me wonder why I haven't been doing this sooner!

I already have clothes to match they look awesome ... yes, gimmick, but none the less .. awesome. I can imagine they will cost an arm and a leg

I got my metro for £1000 (pretty much new and un-used). since then I have hardly played or considered any other bass at all and will be on the luck out for a similar deal if I am lucky! so, anyone out ther that is not 100% happy with their Sadowsky (from this thread it seems that there could be) .. sell it to me

from those figures, I would hardly class them as mass produced bass' I also think the fact that you managed to get Rodger Sadowsky to have a look at this forum and reply as quick as he has shows just how committed he is to his brand. on the subject of Sadowsky's vs Fenders .. well, I used to hate anything Fender, thought they sounded poor & weak. it was Modulus all the way for me! however, my interest in the vintage sound started to grow. I tried a US Fender Delux in a store in Manchester .. all I can say is that I walked out disappointed and never wanting to touch one again. however, when I listend to CHRISDABASS play what seemed to be a Fender (it was actually his Sadowsky NYC) I instantly heard something I had never heard before from a vintage bass .. especially a Fender looking one! instantly hooked I was! the feel and sound of the bass is just amazing, hence when I shot out and bought a Metro.
well you could get the silver one and pretend you just moved some pickups on the flea.... or you could buy my one and tell her how you saved a few hundred and are being more honest through not making up stuff about moving pickups on a flea bass?
I like the first option better
The other Valenti will be closer to your Sadowsky in shape mine is the more traditional chunky fender design. Also the red one is in better condition than mine, mainly as it just seems to get passed around For the money his is the better buy and just to be clear I won't be price matching I'm not Tesco's
haha!! you'd be a rubbish sales man!
Personally this is the best jazz bass I've tried full stop and that includes over the 2 USA Sadowsky's I've tried, however it is heavier than the USA Sadowsky's it's pretty much bang on 5kg's
that's about 2lbs heavies than my metro .. could possibly live with that! but there is another Valenti on sale now as well! too much choice!!

I am currently looking for an Octave Pedal .. just borrowed an EHX Octave Multi and the depth is really nice. very warm full sound that had my band mates smiling. however, I must admit that I am liking the sound of the EHX Micro Pog at the moment! I would love for one to pop up on sale on BC soon!

haha .. could you imagine if you only just realised now that you have been playing your bass upside down all this time!
Maybe that mine was upside down then?
to be honest, I would have to agree with ChrisDaBass ... Sadowsky, all the way! I have a Modulus FB4 (as you will see from my avatar), and loved it immensley. but the Sadowsky is just that little bit better!

I had the exact same problem. I did a temporary bass swap with a mate, my Modulus for his Stingray .. I was excited to hear the sound, the punch and crunch that you heard from the likes of Flea! The E, A and D string sounded awesome ... the G String!!! flat, no punch, no crunch! I actually cried. my mate mentioned (rumour? not sure) that it was an issue with the pick up at manufacture stage. Official line from EB was that this was a 'characteristic' of the bass sound rather than a balls up (haha). I think they messed up big time and rather than recalling thousands of bass' they just spun that excuse. There really was a massive difference in sound! needless to say the temporary bass swap was just that ... TEMPORARY!
