I did this for a one off gig. It was a blast. Drummer and both guitarists were in a band and I'd just returned from a long stint away. We rehearsed a couple of times and played our 'best of'. It went down well and was fun, but there was no suggestion it become any more than the one off.

Thanks. I've looked at it (just re-watched a few reviews), but I keep coming back to a SA C4. I've built some synth patches in my Boss GT1-B which sound useable, but not spectacular. I've also started using the -1 Octave settings and messed around with that. I just don't really know which way to go. And my budget is tiny! Hence the Behringer interest. Although a TC Nether can be found cheaper.
 -
It's also very cheap, which sounds good to me! I'm trying to decide on a route to some synth-like tones and if I go the individual pedals route, I'll need an octave pedal. I haven't seen too many bass reviews (and I don't really know what I'm looking for in terms of an octave pedal for this outcome) so it's good to hear that it works.

Very interested in this. How is it?

	Cheap multi effects into headphones?
 -
My first 5 string. Something cheap, humbucker(s) and a maple fretboard, only because that seems to be the opposite of what I do have. Some way of scratching the synth sound itch I can't seem to shake. Either a cheap series of pedals, a SA C4 or a quality multi unit that I could build some presets with. And a one cab solution. Even though I'm only playing in my house!

I keep thinking about this as a 'better' solution than my Boss GT1 - B. The only thing I don't like about the Boss is having to choose from 2 groups for a lot of the effects and that limiting what you can put together. But if this does the same thing then it's no better.
 -
	That's how it should be!

I get that pop every now and again on my RM800. I can never tell what is causing it. Seems random.
 -
This! I never used them as much as that, but I feel some techniques will need to be learned.
 -
Not really. I last used one in the early 90s. I have no recollection of what thickness. I just wondered if things had moved on since then and if so, what were people's experiences. No more or less.

And thanks for all the recommendations. Once you've found the right one, how many do you have at a gig? Do you lose or drop them? I'm not worried about the audition, but I feel nervous about being left pick-less in the heat of the moment. I suppose I could always just play with fingers, but then the tone would be all different.
 -
Wow! That's very generous, thanks. I don't mind going to my local music shop and having a look at what they've got and buying a few different styles (although browsing for picks is pretty lame, isn't it!).
 -
As stated in the title, really! I haven't played with a pick for decades and I have an audition coming up with a few songs that really need it to nail the sound. Firstly, which picks do you recommend for a pick-averse bass player. Secondly, how the hell do I use it?
 -
And it has, I've got an audition with a very professional looking band!

When the singer's group chat posts started getting weird I was alerted to the possibility that this wouldn't last. After a number of members quit I was unsure how it was going to go. But when the singer left her own band it was really obvious that the band had folded!

I've had fantastic dealings with Ashdown's customer service. If you can wait while it's in transit then I think it's worth a punt. Is it cheap?
 -
I'm thinking about experimenting with a fiver and this is just down the road from me. Lots of rave reviews.
 -
They look like what I need, except I need them 20mm high. I've found some online and ordered. Will see how they go.
 -
Hi, Has anyone fitted new, higher feet to their amp? My new cab has had an aftermarket handle fitted to the side and I want to stand it vertically but the handle protrudes 20mm out from the cab. Does anyone know of a good solution to add new feet to my head?
 -
That's the one! It went missing for about 2 weeks and then all of a sudden turned up unannounced with no card or anything. Then the seller accused me of attempting to defraud him as I had been asking for a refund. He didn't believe me that it had been delivered that day and accused me of attempting fraud. I just happened to check the tracking information that had been empty and it showed as delivered that day. He has been silent since! The cab is great. I've only had it in a rehearsal room so far. We have an outdoor gig in a couple of weeks but backline is supplied so I may not be able to use it then.

Wow, these replies are brilliant! Thanks all. While a lot of the factors are out of my control, my little tinkering to patches proved reasonably successful. The biggest win was dropping the attempt at a synth altogether for a couple of songs and just using a clean sound. This improved the whole sound of the band no end. I have a lot more digging to do! We've got two more rehearsals booked in before our fist gig and I don't know if we'll be able to schedule any more (it's really hard getting the five of us together as it is), but I'm going to suggest the instrumentalists arrive early for one and see if we can run a tech rehearsal then. Thanks again everyone.
 -
I'm going to see how everything sounds tomorrow, I'll also see which ones work better so I can do some analysis. I'll float the idea of a technical rehearsal as well. I'm finding that I'm really enjoying trying to get the sounds right. It's a bit frustrating but the goals is worth pushing for!

And dirt is an integral component of the synth sounds I'm setting up.
