  1. Yes, too much cab and way too heavy for me, but if you were buying it for a rehearsal room or studio, bloody hell it would be great value! I'm in the market for something cheap, which was why I saw it, and that basically means heavy. But that was in another league!
  2. Did anyone here score this? Wowsers! It's a monster and a bargain.
  3. Mine ended up going back a number of times as the issue kept coming back. Dave eventually swapped it for an RM800! Weirdly, I don't find the detents an issue on the 800.
  4. Cool. I'd love your insights after a full band run. I'm constantly looking at old and weird solutions. The RM cab would just be easy if it's good.
  5. Lovely! How do you find the cab? I'm looking for a (cheap) partner for my RM800 and they sometimes pop up.
  6. I thought I was heading downhill after moving country and a couple of local ish groups didn't work out. Answering one advertisement changed everything. Despite not having done anything significant in 14 years, I'm now in a band with talent and aspirations that I had pretty much given up on. You really never.know what's out there!
  7. It's definitely got single pole pieces and I've always found the preamp fantastic for dialing in tones. Sounds ridiculous, but I've never counted the frets!
  8. I believe it is, but apart from checking on the serial number website, I'm not sure how to confirm it.
  9. My American Fender Jazz Deluxe, ordered new in 1997. This doesn't really count, but I've also got my double bass that I inherited around the same time from my Grandfather, and he had it for about 50 years.
  10. I wasn't through the desk, though, only the keyboard was.
  11. Thanks, I was thinking it might be just the general quality. Why it happens when the keyboard plugged into the PA baffles me - but then I know nothing about power!
  12. First rehearsal with a Madonna cover project. My pedal's power supply caused a clicking through my amp when the keyboard was plugged into the PA (!), so I had to play all the lines clean and not using the carefully crafted synth-type sounds I'd created. Songs went well, we all clicked and all are keen to put some effort in to take it further. Result!
  13. Thanks! Is this what you mean?
  14. I had my first rehearsal with a new band tonight. While setting up, the keyboards got plugged into the PA and immediately I could hear a thick ticking sound coming from my amp. I eventually isolated it to the power supply for my Boss GT1-B. It was a super cheap one. I've never had anything like this before. Is it new power supply time? Or was that a freak occurrence?
  15. Learning some tunes for a Madonna tribute/project: Holiday, Like a Virgin, Into the Groove and Gambler.
  16. Sounds like 5 stars to me.
  17. Are their cabs on a par with their basses? I used to play a Profet 3.2 which, apart from being a bit under powered, I absolutely loved.
  18. Is that in Trowbridge? That's four hours drive from me! There are some Warwick 115s pretty cheap - are they any good? Basically, I'm looking for an old school, heavy, unwanted cab that I can capitalise on and sound good. Oh, and for peanuts!
  19. That's it!
  20. My Eden is 4 ohms, hence wanting more.
  21. All of this is true! Thank you. It's for sale for £65. If my Eden doesn't cut a full band (which I'd be surprised if it did) then it might be worth a really lowball offer just to tide me over until I can get something better.
  22. Confirming my suspicions, thanks. Being on a budget and being a tight wad does funny things to the mind.
  23. I've seen a cab advertised reasonably locally that is a cut down combo, head removed and a pretty crude looking board replacing it. After some enquiries it seems to be an Ashdown ABM 115 Evo 3 but I'm not that familiar with them to be able to check - it could be a Mag too. I'm not currently gigging but am in a band that is rehearsing and could be gigging soon. My amp is an Ashdown RM800 and I've currently got an Eden Ex112 that I'm going to sell and try to get more speakers (210/212 or, eventually, 2x115). My budget is basically whatever I get for the Eden, but this would far cheaper than that. Is it worth an hour's drive and the faff of checking it out? Or would it be a total waste of time?
  24. I can trump them all. 2nd hand (new to me) RM 500 has a horrible crackling noise after getting it home. Email to Ashdown. "Send it back to the retailer," says Dave. "It's used," I reply (and it's well used, too. Scratched, dented, bent bits!). "Ok, send it in," replies Dave. So I do and it comes back but it's not fixed. I then take months to send it in again as I'm moving house, not really playing and can't find the box. Eventually I send it back on a Friday and it returns again on Wednesday (I'm only paying for the postage to Ashdown, by the way, they're paying to send it back to me), but again it's not fixed. I email a video of the fault and Dave calls me a couple of days later. "Throw it in the bin," he says. He then adds, "I'm going to send you a new 800!" I nearly fell over! It's a return, but checked out and fully working and was posted to me 2 days later. Needless to say I'm a massive convert and a proselytising Ashdown convert. I still can't actually believe that happened!
  25. That looks fantastic! How did it sound?
