Thanks Noir. I can assign them, but I then can't find a way to change the parameters. And sometimes the effect won't assign to CTRL1, it just turns it on for the whole patch. It's got me thinking about upgrading, which I don't want to do as it's expensive.

Hi all, I'm trying to get my head around assigning CTRL1 to different functions and I'm managing. Sometimes! I'm using the Tone Studio software and I can assign different effects to CTRL1 without too much grief. The problem I'm having is then being able to adjust parameters per effect - I can't seem to be able to do it. I've managed to adjust some parameters on the unit itself, again, sometimes. Once, trying to add a flange to a clean preamp and comp patch, I could assign fx1 flange but I couldn't get a decent sound. I then manually added fx2 flange, which sounded much better, but it wouldn't assign to CTRL1, it only stayed on the clean sound of the patch (I hope that makes sense!) Basically, I should be easily able to switch particular effects on and off with CTRL1, as well as control parameters while doing this, but it seems really hit and miss. Are there any GT 1B users out there that can shed any light on where I'm going wrong? It's starting to really cheese me off!

Maybe less of the under rated, just cheap, but I had a Roland DB500 that I rated. 160 watts, 12 inch combo had 2 programmable channels that were handy for 2 basses and it sounded great on double. Got it for £150 delivered to my house!

I was about to buy a cheap synth pedal until I watched this and managed to get 4 reasonable patches on my Gt1b.

My one speaker transistor combo is also really heavy!

I'd find a cab that I wanted to use with the head and use it as an extension speaker for the combo. Then, when you can afford it, get the head and you're away.

I used Laurence Dixon around clapham somewhere. I don't have his details to hand but I'll dig them out later. He set up my zeller bass nicely, was reasonably priced and a lovely bloke.

What about the Hartke 2x10 in the fs section here?

I got my Roland DB500 for £150 and it's a great bit of kit. 150 (loud) watts, very compact and sounds great. I've used it in loads of situations including a 1000 seat hall with no backup. Only problem is finding one but they do crop up on here.

If it's any help, I loved the sound from my Warwick ProFet 3.2 (their lowest priced head)!

Hey, Does anyone know a universal spike protector? I bought a cheapie that doesn't fit, which is really annoying. I thought about measuring it but not sure how to with any precision. So, any ideas?

The Thomann setup is exactly what I was looking at for setting up a rehearsal room, though. I'm assuming it would beat one of those Yamaha stagepass or Fender Passport thingies hands down?(Sorry for the hijack!)

Hi all, I did the unthinkable (for me) yesterday and broke the A string on my school's double bass! I've never done that before. The bass is an old clanger and the strings are probably the originals. The music department has no money to buy a new set (or single string) so I'll buy it for them. The question is, is an £8 ebay special worth messing around with or not? I don't have enough to buy a good set, so the string will be unmatched anyway. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I wouldn't buy a bass blind but I've bought amps. The Warwick ProFet 3.2 worked well for me and I was happy with my Roland DB500. I did extensive research which boils down to believing people you trust and disregarding the loonies and loosers. I do belive that testing in a shop has limited value, you'll never really know how it sounds with a band. Or in a particular room.

I left my DB in the car during the day for a rehearsal after work. Twas Australia in summer. Took my bass out of the case and couldn't work out why the strings were flopping around the fingerboard! The bass bar had collapsed in the heat. It was replaced (at great cost) and sounded a million times better afterwards. Expensive lessons learned. Hector, I imagine it's a relatively easy fix. Don't quote me, though!

I think it depends where you look. Ebay and the like are busy and sellers know what they can get. I bought mine from my school (which had 3 and no students, so I didn't deprive any learners!) which was happy to get some money for something that was just taking up room. I paid £150 and then spent £350 + pickup getting it sorted by a luthier but it's been well worth it. It was certainly playable when I bought it, just not 'lovely'. I say try and be creative when looking. Junk sales, clearouts etc could all be fruitfull. Good luck. PS Did I see you posting on an android forum recently? Got a Hero?
