1. really thinking about getting one of these and i had a bit of a play today, but i like to get my thumb sunk in, is there a tasteful way to get a thumbrest, or maybe upgrade to a back pickup ???
2. oh im looking for offers close to 400 on this, will come with a nice bow and case
3. This is a cello made in east germany in 1977. It is in very nice condition, and there is only a few points where the varnish has come off as you can see in the photos. It has just had a small service, and the pegs were refitted so the tuning is now great, and the G string was replaced. The parts are all original, except for the spike which is new (not the inlay section just the metal spike itself) It comes with the original charming leather case as pictured, and also a bow from the same year, that could do with re-hairing soon. It has a good full tone and any inspection is welcome. Ive tried to be as honest as possible but im no instrument specialist, but il try and handle questions as well as i can. Collection only from guildford, surrey, or i can take it to waterloo. Might be the wrong place to go for a sale but its a great instrument for people looking to expand their horizons a bit
4. Im trying to find the aprox weight of a music man as i need to send my olp, what will it be in kg? (i have no way of weighing it) does anyone know the weight of something similar??
5. These are drum mics made by superlux, you get one bass mic, similar to a d112 and three tom mics, all you need is nice overheads to get a decent recording. They are all dynamic, have had little use and come in an attractive little suitcase. Im looking for £80 as they are in spruce condition.
6. okay, thanks, may be able to get a car for january actually which would be good, so just let me know when you need to get rid
7.
Aye, I'm thinking about a starting bid of 99p to see where we get. No hurry tho, I may leave it until I've moved in and can actually get to them (they're stuck at the back of my storage room at the mo.....)
im a student in guildford, any chance you can deliver for petrol? none of my housemates drive
8. Ive had this bass for a few months from new, just until my build is ready, which is now imminent, so was wondering if anyone fancied it? has a couple of bits of gig wear, one on the underside, and a few dents along the top, but the front and back a quite clean, oh and it has a . Its a nice cheap, steady bass, quite a loud pickup. Its got fairly recent rotosound strings on it. If i get a good offer il chuck in a very nice warwick waterproof rock bag Im after a bit more than £100 for it, try to recoup some cash, cheers Ive taken off all the offensive stuff and cleaned it up to nearly new (minus the above mentioned) theres also two small holes in the scratch plate, but plays fairly nice, is a chunky feeling bass last ploy for a sell before i end up part exing it
9. id like to second andy rourke, his basslines have taught me so much recently
10. yes its having original hofner tuners to match cheers for the positive comments
11. This build was started in the summer, and will hopefully be ready around new year. Its being built for me by a friend to my design specs. Its a fretless violin bass with two schaller pick ups, it has been built with a wooden bar down the middle of the body, yes the body is hollow, and the builder put in the bar to add a bit more resonance than other violin basses, but hopefully it will still get the warmth im after. heres some pics... Im going to go fro a deep reddy nut brown varnish for the finish, and painting will be starting soon
12. Ive just bought an apogee duet, which is a 2 in 2 out, like the mbox, but the quality of the converters is amazing, if you have heard of apogee you will know, personally i would get one of these with logic 8 (if your a student its 118 quid!!) i had an mbox2, the quality was flaky, build and sound wise and logic will get you a more complete stand alone package, stu
13. the kind of music we play.... well influences come from sounds like the smiths, the kinks, beatles, the velvet underground, libertines, so its quite up beat and punchy but very smithsy melodic in some places, although our vocals are nothing like morrissey. glad to see some people from the area
14. Hi, new to the forum so thought i would make my introductions... Ive been playing since i was 12, so nearly 9 years now, i play in a couple of bands, one is the rookeries, one is failures art, am recording and just starting to gig with both of them and will hopefully have an ep ready with the rookeries at christmas! I play a fender precision (mexican), but ive got a custom fretless violin bass currently being built which will be done by new year( ive added a pic if youd like to check it out, let me know if you have any questions about the project, having a couple of interesting bits done) ive just bought a trace 4x10 cab, and on the search for a trace head to accompany a bit, if you know anyone who has one, great!! or maybe a cheap poweramp and trace preamp? stu
