When I was a kiddo, I had a 3/4 or even 2/3 guitar, but never played it. It was just sort of laying around. I also has some child instruments, but never used them in proper way either. First 17 years of my life I spent in a house that was in poor condition - it was always cold and quite humid. After some time, the owner of the ground floor moved in and it turn out it's a woman with paranoid schizophrenia. Those two reasons were responsible for mine not even thinking of playing. Oh, and the fact I was not a big fan of music, I just liked to listen to it sometimes. Then I started to listen to more and more music, shaping my taste for it and I moved. After that suddenly I started wanting to play - play a bass, as I was big Ramones fan and I liked Dee Dee a lot nad big RHCP fan and I liked Flea a lot, too. It took my two and a half years to get my first bass, but meanwhile I got a guitar, but never played it a lot somehow. My bass history is here.
(...)Postage is £2.50 to UK (...) 2 x Concentric Stack knobs for Jazz £12 for pair
Only knobs, W/O pots? And what kind of knobs, chromed or plastic? Would you consider shipping this to Poland by any chance if the offer still stands? -
Don't think it will ever get changed now.
There are people using the same LaBella's since 60's-70's, so you don't have to worry about changing them anyway.
I have been around quite a few shops last week end and yesterday I made my decision: I got an Ovation Magnum 4 (...)
Wow. You, sir, are a lucky one.

Welcome! It's good to hear that bass playing is like riding a bike. I'm not planning to stop, but, hey, who knows.
Welcome to the mid life crisis forum
Hell, I registered here at the same time when I began to think I've already (and prematurely) started to have MLC

As for the "Radio Museum" - that was my primary source of data. As for the "Vintage Catalogs" - hell, the only words in French I know are eau, fromage, petit, chanson, pardon and some swear words. Anyway, thanks.
A Judas Priest tribute bass ?!
Hey, in that case you'd have so many song titles to use as an alias! 'Grinder', 'Metal God', 'Steeler', 'Exciter', 'Blodstone', 'Jawbreaker', 'Invader', 'Devil's Child', 'Turbo Lover', 'Painkiller' and, of course, 'Leather Rebel' ED: Oh, as long as using those names won't be 'Breaking the Law', that is.
Since the headstock is blank I need to think of a name for it, any suggestions ?!
GimpBass, of course. Oh, add some studs to it

Depends on tuning. For EADG they might be too thick and will cause your W.'s neck to bend.

Yeah, but why are you asking this in someone else's welcome thread?

Going out with my friend, testing guitars and basses and meanwhile explaining her a lot of guitar and bass history in two different music stores and then pizza afterwards - can't imagine better 'gig' until she'd be ready to play her guitar with me...
Thats a nice bass man. If you havent got the chrome pickup and bridge covers, I'd get them. They arent expensive and finish that classic look.
+ 1[sup]n+1[/sup]
Isn't that just the thing? For some it's rosewood, for others it's maple. For me on a P bass, it always has to be rosewood, with the contrast it gives between head and body.
Personally, I don't like P's with rosewood fingerboards at all, and Tele headstock with rosewood is fairly close to 'abomination' But Jazz Bass looks decent with rosewood to me, especially if 70's neck with block inlay But hey, never wondered about block inlayed, rosewood fingerboarded tele headed neck for Telecaster Bass... I guess with a proper Daphne Blue or Turquoise Green body that would look great
I was just about to post that, but you beat me to it. Yes, Foto Flame body, but not neck.
And mine has the same type neck with the same type body. Must have been a short batch of these basses in early 90's. Somebody gotta know something 'bout that...
I've got one up here somewhere for sale, don't you know
Would have already been on the way to me if it weren't for rosewood...

Damn! She's a sister of mine! But mine's customised a lot. LINK I have been reseaching for six months now and I still don't know what is it. The body appears to be some sort of FotoFlame finish, but necks a classic 57RI. These can be some kind of factory customs, you know, as if them Japanese builders had one nect to few, so they fitted a classic, not FotoFlame one. Anyway, congrats! That's beautiful bass.I bought mine at £330. Wanna create a club?
Well Immo, the floors are sticky, the customers are extremely piss drunk most of the time and the atmosphere then... I'd never go there if I weren't a member of the house band.
Well, in that case, you have an interesting venue to play in Still, more climate than my room I play all the time (but it also has sticky floors ).
