1. Hi I have a '97 Modulus Flea (without the truss rod). When slapping the F on the E string at the first fret, I noticed a fretbuzz. This is the only place on the fret board which buzzes. On closer inspection, I noticed the 2nd fret has slightly lifted by a gnat's knacker on the bass side of the neck. Placing a steel ruler across the frets, the ruler is riding on the 2nd fret quite obviously. Bearing in mind this is a graphite neck with a composite fingerboard, I would be grateful if any folk could give me advice on how best to have this fault corrected and of any recommended repairers who maybe specialise in graphite necks. Or are these necks and fretboards pretty run-of-the-mill for any competent luthier? Thanks in advance
2. Sold Chris a BadAss II bass bridge, all went smoothly with perfect comms, payment and service. Many thanks Chris.
3. Totally agree with the above and thanks for the replies. Guitar Village had one in a sale at £1599 with a retail at around £2500. Bass Gallery also have one for around £2100. Guitar Village got back to me and said even though their sale had finished, they would still sell it to me at the sale price. I mean, seems a good price for a bass of that standard, it's new and cheaper than the Classis MM series. I'll mull it over. Paul
4. Stunning bass Redburst, I was searching for a Modulus for many a year and luckily one become available here in Britain. An all original 1997 silver sparkle with Lane Poor and original hardshell case. I hope your new bass gives you a lifetime of enjoyment as I am sure it will. On a side not, I was browsing the talkbass boards with a few folk rumoring Modulus may be in some spot of bother. Any info on this from any users would be appreciated. Paul
5. Have seen a couple of these floating around on the web and I must say they are a stunning bass and I am tempted. I own a 20th Anniversary Stingray so I understand the quality of such instruments, and it would be nice to add another "hard-to-find" bass to the collection. Has anyone owned/tried the Stingray Ball Family Reserve or seen one in the flesh? I'm weighing up going for that or sitting it out waiting for another Modulus to pop up! Thoughts, opinions etc, let me hear them! Paul
6. How much would shipping be approx to the UK? Stunning colour!
7. Lovely bass. Do you have the original screws for the original tuner? The D tuner mounting screw heads look big. Are they the same thread size? Would the original tuner still be able to be mounted with the original four screws? Where in Suffolk are you based?
8. That scratch plate is the same as what Hooky has on his on the Love Will Tear Us Apart video. Guess it's factory fitted... unless it's Hooky's actual bass!
9. Just purchased a Modulus Flea from Liam, excellent transaction and would not hesitate to recommend or to deal with again. Many thanks Liam
10. Just took delivery of a 20th Anniversary Stingray from Allan, really top bloke. Good communication throughout the transaction and excellent packaging for the bass. Thanks a lot Allan, all the best, Paul
11. Long story short, I've been after a Flea bass for about 4/5 years now, every time one pops up on Bass Chat I miss it! This has popped up in Chicago, a pretty much first batch produced Flea from 1997, including a Lane Poor so the sales rep has informed me! I just want some opinions from anyone regarding it this worth the quoted price? (They offered it to me for $2100, shipping will be around $200 supposedly) Bearing in mind the fees at customs which will add 20% I imagine! Any thoughts appreciated http://www.chicagomusicexchange.com/bass/more/electric-bass/modulus-flea-bass-blue-sparkle-1997/
12. That is stunning! Gorgeous colour! GLWTS
13. Just purchased a jazz/p hybrid through Chris, great guy to deal with, excellent service, prompt shipping and a lovely bass. Cheers mate!
14. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SylbNG6RsWg Wonder if anyone could help me figure out the effect Jared uses for the opening of Crawl in the o2 gig link...between 0:15 and 0:19. Any help would be appreciated!
15. Guess it's time to move my begginer bass on, has just spent the last 3 years sitting around! It's the Tanglewood Rebel 4 string, mint condition and i'll chuck in a fender strap and a case for it too. £100 and pick up only from Lowestoft, Suffolk. Paul
16. Based in Lowestoft, 17 years old......styles include funk,rock and 70s disco.
17. Evening all, Basically after playing for over 5 years now and being taught by a touring pro, I am thinking about starting to teach but I'm just wondering if there is anything I need to do before I could start? Plus as I am only 17 is that a factor? Sorry if this sounds a silly question but just looking for advice off anyone. Thanks, Paul
18. Stunning bass you have there, if it's around in a few more months (which i highly doubt) i may be interested as i am saving for a new bass and this bass is a stunner. Good luck with the sale!
19. Thanks for the welcome guys... As for the Lowestoft pronunciation it does vary among the locals, I tend to pronunce it Low Stoft, but there is a lot of variation involved.
20. The Darkness....First album was big, second was nowhere near as good as the first. They're not really mentioned round Lowestoft now anyway, a forgotten band now.
21. Hello, I have been browsing this site for a few weeks now, so I thought it was time to sign up! I am 16 and have been playing bass for 4 years, my bass guitars are a Musicman SUB4 and a Tanglewood R4K which was my starter bass. For amps, I use a Fender 60 Frontman and Fender 15 Rumble and I use a Boss GT6B for effects. Mainly I play songs from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Victor Wooten, Jimi Hendrix, Arctic Monkeys and others.
