1. NOW SOLD For sale is my mint condition Genz Benz Shuttle 9 which I purchased brand new from Bass Merchant. It has only been occasionally used at home so is in mint condition, perfect working order without a mark on it. It will come with the original box, manual and power cable. I will also throw in the official Genz Benz Shuttle gig bag that I bought for it. I play in an acoustic group and use my MarkBass combo so I have no use for this anymore and sooner it go to someone who will get some use out of it. I bought this new from Bass Merchant for £699 about 6 months ago but they have since dropped in price to £599 so I would like £450 inc postage. I am in Surrey so any trial or collection is welcome. I may also consider a trade for a NS Wav 4 or NS NXT 4 or a Fender '51 re-issue Precision.
2.
Yes, their default neck from 2010 onwards is a much thinner profile, with nicely rounded fingerboard edges. You can still request the chunky neck, but the default is thin.
Excellent, thank you for confirming.
3. Am I right in thinking that newer Warwicks don't have such a chunky neck these days? My 2006 Streamer Jazzman which is a bolt on does have a chunky neck but my old 2010 Corvette which is also bolt on has a very nice thin neck. I am sure I read somewhere that Warwick's went back to slimmer necks over the last few years.
4. Bad luck Mart. Nothing is selling at the moment. My MIA Jazz had very very little interest and other basses on here are just not selling. I would say it is worse now that a few years ago when we had an official recession.
5.
I have splashed out on a table, and bringing my normally jazz-aloof wife. Big fan of LC, I predict it will be mind-blowing!
No don't say that, I so wish I could make it. Can't you just lie and say its going to be rubbish, it would make me feel so much better
6.
No yet, EBMM are aware and are investigating. Problem is, I can't fault it when they are right. I love their basses.
Lets face it Gareth, what ever bass you get, something along the way will go wrong with it. Its written in the stars
7. I wanted to go this this but I can't get the time free to go
8. Our drummer was complaining that the bass was too loud and my amp was too loud blah blah. So we tried a song and during it he continued to complain the bass was too loud so I showed him my hands and the fact that I was not actually playing and then pointed to my amp to show him that it was not switched on or even plugged in. It turned out it was the guitar he mean't
9. Yep, agree with Dave and the others. Get money back and move on.
10. Gareth, you see, if you bought a Fender in the first place, your expectations would be that the neck pocket would have gaps and there would be other quality issues so if you got a good one it would be party time Set your sights low by buying Fender :) Seriously, never had any problems with any of my Fenders. I do hope you get this sorted soon and at least you got other Stingrays to keep you busy.
11. When you have been working on a song and written a great bass line that uses harmonics and open strings of a fretless for the songwriter to say they have changed the key so your very cool bass lines does not work anymore and you have to start all over from scratch again gggrrrr
12. My very first Stingray that I bought from The Bass Centre in Wapping had a dodgy neck. It would not settle or stay in tune. I took it back to the Bass Centre who got in contact with S&T and said if I bring it down they will sort it. So I drove down to see them and they agreed the wood was too soft and changed the neck over there and then and it was fine ever since. So it does seem that a few bad ones can get through but Gareths does seem to be a bit of a howler.
13. Awsome, thanks Owen. How does his bass sound and any fretless stuff?
14.
Break after first set. It is proper.
What?? Is that it???? You can't leave us hanging on What basses is he playing? full band, style of music, more more more
15.
Thread locked Deleted and the OP banned for life
HAHA beat me to it but good to see we are on the same page
16.
I wonder what pearls of wisdom Big Poppa would have about it over on the Forum?
Probably get banned, accused of lying, ear marked as a terrorist, refused entry into the US of A and then throw the worst insult they can at you which is call you a Fender fanboy
17.
Even more angry now. I noticed the serial/barcode and battery looked like they weren't new. The barcode is all faded, the serial points to 8/5/2010, (howwwww?) and the battery is almost expired. Me thinks they have used an old body/neck, sent it back and had the extra H added. Very very odd. Double checked the serial, DOB is as above, I didn't even order it til March 2011 and it's taken 7 months...
Now that is really really bad. The funny thing is (although not funny for you) is of all the people on this forum, it could only ever happen to you. Your bad luck with new basses is shocking and becoming less surprising. I would kick up a real stink about this and that really is taking the mick.
18.
I am killing time in the vicinity before going in at 6.30. I am tragically excited I have also managed to get to the Gallery, cross Dingwall off my GAS list (a fine instrument, just not for me) but unexpectedly add Alleva to it. It has been, and is going to be, a good day. If anyone else is going to be there pm me your mob and we can......... um ........ say "hi".
Damn and blast you lucky git. Please let us know how it is, what he plays etc
19. I have now withdrawn this. I may put this up again in the future with new trades, maybe a Fender Precision 57 re-issue or road worn precision with cash adjustments.
20. Gareth, what has happened?
21.

Look into my eyes, my eyes, only my eyes ......... THIS IS THE BASS YOU ARE LOOKING FOR
22. The other issue with the 40+ age group is most of the people this age who like going to see live music have settled down, with kids and houses and can't be arsed or afford to go out and see bands anymore. Thus making it more frustating for those still playing as they play to a venue of 3 people. Plus there are less venues these days having live music or original bands. Its just more things stacked up against bothering.
23.
Only in their 40s? They lack ambition and drive. Today I'm 51. My current originals band is doing fantastically and is close to achieving more then any of my previous bands of the last 35 years. These days the only people who really care how old you are if your playing original music are becoming less and less relevant in the grand scheme of musical things. Our audience covers a massive age range from teenagers to people with at least a decade on me, but they all like the band because they enjoy the music and we're entertaining. Of course it helps that don't really look my age, have enough hair to still have a hair style and know how to dress in a stylish and appropriate manner for the band without being told. Having a strong visual identity always helps - it's not just about the music and anyone who thinks it is, is going to be disappointed.
Pretty much this. I have been the 20 something that gigged every night up and down the country to finally as you saying making it and getting a record deal. Now I am 41 and playing in a different originals band and loving it. My perspective is different now though and to make it to me is just to be playing and making a living rather than making it and being in the spotlight.
24. Its certainly much slower. I just clicked on the new content tab at the top right and couted 15 seconds before it loaded. This seems to be the norm but somedays are better than others. No problem with other websites.
