err... says who? bass_ferret certainly stuck to that rule with his fretless! The best looking GB I have ever seen is a complete black rumour with ebony board and silver hardware. Ended up going to Holland. Looked fantastic.
err I do FWIW! GBs main claim to fame as it were was tied up with Mark king using them for a period, as you know of course, and IMHO defines there default sound in some ways, I realise they can do the whole plethora of other sounds but I just think as a default setting GBs being known for there almost hifi sound quality is no bad place to start. Hence the slap switch as its known. Anyways thats just my two pence worth. Bugger i guess this is gonna lead to a lot of opinions and discussion! and we will lose the porn purpose of this thread, perhaps it should be moved! To put that right, its a lovely sunny day and I have the day off so Im gonna take some outdoor pics of my pride and joy just for the hell of it.

2nd or 4th, u gotta have a maple board, GB's are supposed to be bright, and maple boards always help, and the colour contrast will look gr8, are you gonna have the fore arm rest area cutaway to show the layers, think thats always a good touch? Man its gonna look the dogs, nope u should go for no4 thats the bestest, IMHO
I just looked at this thread and can't believe how long its got! It has become a GB event organising comitee!! - and I now can't come! Doh. With regards to my joining blatantly to sell the bass, I understand the dodgy vibes from a few members totally. Infact it's reassuring there's some pride here. Thanks to Flanker and Birdy for support. Think of this more as the incentive to join rather than the soul reason. And yes I will be visiting from now on. Cheers guys. Now you've taken the wives off ebay you'll have to behave yourselves at the GB social! With what I've just spent on my new bass I nearly had to do a buy it now on my girlfriend!! Thanks birdy and I hope you have years of fun with the bass. Look after. Jo
Blatantly or not, we forgive you, plus youve only gotta mention GB round these parts and we all get a bit moist!
How many GB's have been built any ideas? Back on topic I would just like to put in a good word for Fingerz who came in for some stick for selling this bass after just registering. He was great to deal with, a lovely guy and I would recommend him no problem. Hopefully he will come back and use the forum. Steve
ok slapped wrist, you know where im coming from tho!
Had an impromptu gig with the two guitarists from my blues band last night in the White Hart at Witley near Guildford. Just three voices, a Fylde Mandolin, a Lowden acoustic and my Martin acoustic bass. No drums, no amps, no keys, no mikes. We played for about two hours and just reeled out loads of stuff (we know a lot of material - we've been playing together on and off for over 20 years!). Was a great time. And in tribute to Rich's post above, here's a bassist's eye of what's in front of me at most gigs with my other band... Cheers all Gareth
Man how do you concentrate all evening! do you just play it all on the gstring!
