1. Evening all.....this is a bass and musically related sale so hopefully doesnt fall foul of the rules.... Due to my friend not being able to go to the gig I have 1 spare ticket for Bela Fleck & The Flecktones (with a certain Mr Victor Wooten on bass) at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Thursday the 19th Jan. The doors open at 6.30pm show starts at 7.30pm. Seat is second row from the front in the Arena Stalls centre section (B13). Any closer and you'd be on his bass amp! I'm asking the face value of the ticket £23.00 Heres links to the venue and seating plan: http://www.celticcon...-The-Flecktones http://www.glasgowco...nAuditorium.pdf Might even be able to help with travel if you're coming from Aberdeen-ish Mike
2.
Hi Acebassmusic, Thanks for the welcome. Good to know there are plenty of North East folk here. I see from your gear list you are using a Barefaced cabinet. I'm thinking of going down the Barefaced route. Would you recommend?
Barefaced - I've only ever tried the Big Twin T so based on that and Alex's customer service......yip I'd recommend seriously looking at them. I hear the other models perform beyond usual expectations. Do a bit of a search on here and you'll see what I mean
3. Hey there Weeleigh from another Aberdeen based basser
4. Not sure whether I'll be heard if I use it all at once....lol . Barefaced Big Twin T is my current set up with the Schroeders being advertised. To use everything would have been fun ......but just a little overkill I think.....
5.
Can I just say I've got a 1515L which is monstrous on its own, so major cohones points for sticking a 410 on top of it. Dooomtastic! Having said that, if my amp would go to 2 Ohms, I'd have the 1515L off you, just to really, really overdo things
Not to hijack my own thread....but yes it could be classed as an "enthusiastic" rig I havent tried this version out at a gig...only at lower volume at home but.....I wonder whether this setup could be classed as "SuperDoomTastic"?
6. As it says on the tin......I have 2 Schroeder cabs for sale either as a full rig or seperately. I am based up in the frozen North (Aberdeen) so shipping these is an option - price etc would depend on where you live. Both cabs are in very good condition with only a couple of small knocks. The largest marks are on the top of the 1515L where the 410's feet have sat! Both cabs come with covers. I've posted a piccy of the stack against my Jazz so you get an idea of how compact these are! Originally cost me £1,350 - I'm looking for £450 for the 410, £350 for the 1515L or £750 for the lot. (Before someone asks.....the bass, carpet, curtains, walls etc are NOT included. ) Schroeder 410L - 4 x 10 neo speakers plus adjustable tweeter, 1200 watt, 4 ohm, 58lbs - http://www.schroeder...ets.com/410.htm Schroeder 1515L - 2 x 15 neo speakers, 800 watt, 4 ohm, 40lbs - http://www.schroeder...s.com/1515L.htm Cheers, Mike
7. Welcome (Guess who else doesn't have a gig tonight....lol)
8.
A little off topic but Mike do you think i could try out your gear some day? I saw you before when you played in Banchory, and sounded good! And you also have a gear list of things i've always been curious about We should have a mini aberdeen bass bash me thinks!
We should have a more local "bass bash" as there are several of us up here in the northern wastelands. I was thinking of going to Moffat but cant fit it in this year Banchory! Blimey the last time I played there (The Stag) was about 5 years ago. We're at the Globe in Aberdeen this Friday (16th) if your round and about. Alex has said to use the cab until he can get me a replacement so I might just be tempted to give it its maiden run then.
9. After sending Alex an epic e-mail describing the sort of sound / cab I was looking for I ordered my early Xmas present 2 weeks ago, a Barefaced Big Twin T Had it delivered today by FedEx....wooohooooo! Like a 10 year old I couldnt wait to open my new prezzy......oooh me likey! Nice finish, great fittings, sexy black grill, cracked casing.....uh?......eh?,,,,,what?......noooooooo! Holding back the tears I realised that the corner of the cab had been damaged in shipping Ah well, these things happen, nothing that cant be solved. So....I dropped Alex a message letting him know of the problem. Cab delivered by FedEx and signed for : 11:22 am Opened packaging : 11:26 am Notified Alex : 11:33 am Alex replied with solution : 11:35 am Response time to customer : 2 mins.....yes thats right... 2 MINS!! Priceless After many years of getting used to half hearted or no responses from companies who just want to take my money and only give a service if they feel like it, this is a wonderful change. All these big corporates with their "customer (un)service centres" should watch and learn from Alex and Barefaced. Great communication and service all the way..... Alex has one very happy customer.....and thats even before I plug it in and try it! Thanks Alex. Mike

11. I used to run a QSC PLX 1604 with various pre amps. I had one output from the pre into channel 1 of the PLX, then set the dip switches on it to parallel and voila you can either run 1 cab per channel or just 1 cab if you have quieter gigs. I did try stereo / seperate sounds to each channel / cab at one point but didnt find it did quite what I thought it would do! By using the power amp you can chop and change youre pre amp every gig if you want to...lol. I'm using an Alembic F-1X which I'm really happy with. In the past I've tried Ampeg SVP-PRO, Mindprint En-voice II, JoMeek VC6Qcs all of which I can reccomend. If you do a trawl of the forum(S) you'll probably get a more detailed description of sounds available from different pre's that would help you decide.
12. For Sale - Alesis Quadraverb II multi effects unit. I've used it as both a PA and bass effects unit (chorus, flange, phaser and octaver etc). Good condition with the exception of one of the front lugs has a small piece out of it. This was done when I bought it and doesnt affect either the racking or operation. Can be controlled either by the front buttons or mide pedal etc. Comes with UK 240v power supply and the manual. One has just sold on E-bay for £220 http://www.ebay.co.u...=item1e68521826 I'm now looking for [s]£180[/s] £165 shipped mainland UK.
13.
...... its in the fingers, brain oh and practice, practice, practice.
Oh GREAT!!!! Now you tell me!!! .....lol
14. Hi there and welcome from another bassist North of the border. Not sure where in Scotland you are but there is a get together next year in Moffat. have a look at this link http://basschat.co.uk/topic/158748-moffat-bass-bash-5/page__hl__moffat%20bass%20bash
15. From the angle of the second pic it looks as if the pickups are flush with the top of the body and below the height of the fretboard (?) On my jazz fiver the pickups tops are approx the same height as the fretboard. The distance from the top of the neck pickup to the bottom of the B string is 4mm and the bridge pickup is 3mm. Hope this give you a bit of a guide.
16. I've been using a TC Electronics G-Major rack for a number of years. Lots of delays, chorus, wah, flange, phase and also built in compression. Its so good and flexible that I've just upgraded to the G-Major 2......which means my original will be going up in the For Sale section soon......
17. I just want to put the record straight on these hi-tech "kettle" leads. I too was dubious about the claims being made, but having just spent just over £200 on one I can honestly say I was immediately blown away with the improvement......my tea just tastes soo much better, fuller flavour and much more transparent. Just putting my coat on now........
