  1. I've had a number of "rack-iterations" over the years. Changed to the currently popular "small amp on top of my cab" for a few years then have migrated back to rack gear. Currently running 2 racks - one's my Demeter and the other is Glockenklang Steamhammer which I've added pics below. I've managed to find a few photos of a few of my rack set-ups of old.
  2. Just thought of another bass I had a hankering for once over. Mike Lull Brian Beller BBM5. About 10 years ago I saw 3 for sale within a 6 month period and then nothing. They usually came in red quilt finish but Bass Direct had one in pink. On my only visit there I tried it and really liked it. I remeber thinking "I'll sleep on my decision to buy and then get back to BD as no-ones going to buy it in the next 2 days are they?" You can guess the rest....I think someone off here bought it 🤔
  3. After many years of working with engineering / techy stuff / comuters / phones / music gear etc. I formulated a reminder for myself for when stuff isnt working as it should......"If all else fails.....read the manual! " lol 🤣🤣
  4. Would this be what you're thinking of. Our very own @woodyratm I think 🤔 Now where did I put that piggy bank / kids inheritance? 🤣 ....and even rarer is a JD Calibas. I've only ever seen 1 in the flesh, which I owned, and one 6 stringer advertised in the last 30+ years.
  5. Just sold my MidiMoose pedal to Pete, Great deal, good comms and fast payment. Many thanks.
  6. Just bought Dunc's Presonus mixer. Great deal, well packed (he must have shares in bubble wrap!🤣). Great comms and kept me up to date when Parcelforce decided to introduce a detour. 👍 Much appreciated and would easily deal with again. Thank you.
  7. ....and it's gone for £750. 👍 Anyone on here bought it?
  8. Just perusing Ebay and seen a nice looking AC Guitars, medium scale for sale at what I think is a good price. Collection from Lincoln area only though. 😢 No idea as to whom the seller is. Here's the link.
  9. Old British proverb: If it aint broke, you're not trying hard enough! 🤣🤣
  10. I like the idea of IEM and am trying to work out a system that works for me with any / all of the bands I play with. This is a little problematic as I both play bass and sing so I need at least those 2 feeds into my IEM. All of the bands I play in only have basic mixing capabilities with max 2 aux outputs so there is a real compromise on what mixes can go to IEM / monitors. Some band members don't want to go IEM or are not able to budget for it so we still need floor monitors. Buying decent IEM like you did and upgrading the mix desk (a new desk for each band!) to allow multiple different aux mixes for each band member is the way to go but can be quite expensive. This assumes that the PA you're using isn't vocal only, can handle the lower frequencies and doesn't need upgrading as well. Most bands I know run their own sound from the stage. Not the best way I know but when you are limited by venue space / location / budget the luxury of having a dedicated sound person is usually the first thing to get ditched. Whoever is running the FOH and monitor mix really needs the time and support from the rest of the band by having technical rehearsal(s) where they can learn to run the equipment, get good FOH settings and work on each persons IEM mix. This also lets people get used to the new setup rather than drop it straight on a gig. 😱 In my experience technical rehearsals seldom happen and I've been trying to get one for the last 3 years in 1 band. Musical rehearsals are more frequent but you just need to read through some of the posts on here where a lot of bands only do this if they have to. If someone's invested money and built up an amp / cab combination over the years and are happy with the results then changing to IEM is quite a leap both technically, functionaly and financially, especially if you're only doing 20 gig's a year at the "Dog n Duck" 😁 Hauling gear is much easier now with lightweight cabs etc. but don't forget that removing amps and cabs from the backline only moves the weight to the addition of extra amps / subs etc at FOH. I wish someone would design a "pop-up PA" 🤔 🤣 As far as ringing ears thats something easily averted by playing at reasonable levels and wearing protection such as ACS.
  11. Ah, ok I get it 👍 I was thinking 3 options for the coils. Keen to see how the series configuration works out.
  12. Hi, I think I get what you're trying to achieve with the wiring system you describe and I'm not sure it would quite work like you want....but nearly 🤣 For me the key to this is thinking about how the signal passes through the system. From your description above the switch has 3 states - series / single / parallel: Single - the full signal runs through only Coil B direct to the Master vol control. Parallel - Coil B - as above, the full signal runs direct to the Master vol control. Coil A - the signal runs through the secondary volume pot which attentuates the signal before going to the Master vol. In theory this should allow you to blend A and B coils together in varying amounts. Series - the signal runs through Coil B and then through Coil A and into the secondary volume pot which would obviously affect the total output from both coils. This would just be acting like the signal going direct to the Master vol pot. I've done a few series / single / parallel set-ups in the past using either a 6 pin DPDT for each humbucker or one 9 pin DPDT to control both pickups at the same time. What I've noticed it that main change in sound is when you go to Series (fatter & louder). Going from single to parallel is a bit more subtle and I'm not sure how useful a volume pot giving incrementaly small changes to an already minimal change 🤷‍♂️ If you're doing a lot of recording where you can make the best of theses subtleties then it's probably worth trying. On the other hand if your gigging, then once the drummer has counted 4, you're lucky to hear the bass never mind any nuances! 🤣🤣 If you do go ahead let us know the results as it would be interesting to hear what the results are both from a useability and audio files. 👍

  14. I've sent a message off to Darkglass and hopefully they will send me a list of effects / cabs / amps etc 🤞 I will of course share it here 👍
  15. Oooh....this Anagram looks to be a very interesting new toy....er I mean specific tool I need to find out more about. 🤣 The basic information I can find eludes to it being a very flexible and powerful pedal with many, many IR / amp / mic / effects. However I cannot seem to find a full list of what effects / IR / amps etc. it has onboard or what can be uploaded onto it from the Darkglass suite. Anybody know where this info is? I downloaded the "Darkglass Suite for Windows (5.5.8) - Anagram Support" to see if it gave any info. Once installed it asks to plug in my Darkglass product (which I dont own) or select from the dropdown Simulator options....which doesn't contain anything about the Anagram. I'm a bit reluctant to splash out a lot of dosh on a piece of equipment that I'm not sure what it can actually do for me. Anyone got any idea?
  16. Just sold Graham my Cort Elrick NJS5. The deal and messaging all went well along with swift payment. Thank you. Now just waiting for the couriers to do their part 🤞
  17. Yes, it's sat here just waiting for you 😉👍
  18. I've always highly rated Micks voice and band and have seen them several times. Never been dissapointed with their live sound either, even in places where other bands have sucked! Great early video of them. 👍
  19. Mmmm.....maybe theres a connection here 🤣 I've mentioned in previous posts / threads about this type of event and the way they drip feed the customer base with info about the event. We are a very niche hobby group spread out in all corners of the UK. Not everyone lives in London / Birmingham / Liverpool etc. and even if you do you still have to plan ahead and budget for albeit lower travelling / food / beer costs. Anywhere outside of these areas can be a significant outlay and all based on a notion that "something might happen". I'm glad I didn't commit to going as I would now be £500 out of pocket for transport & hotel, not a happy bunny and very unlikely I would consider going to another one if its run the same way. 😢
  20. Bought a Babicz bridge from Andrew. Bought, paid, wrapped, shipped and delivered to the other end of the country all within 24hrs! Easy deal, many thanks.
  21. That's a nice, clean example you have there. Looking good for 20 years play 👍 Have fun with it.
  22. Great news @TheGhostofJaco however 🤣🤣 We need to see this shiny clean new addition to the family.
  23. Hi, whereabouts in Scotland are you? Do you have any hi-re photos as the ones posted are a bit small? Thanks.
  24. That's a bit cruel, how would they go to school? 🤣
  25. Why not add the top hats and pole to your existing setup if you already like the sound? Drill a ~40mm hole in the top of the lower cab and fit one of these (sealed with silicon). Do the same to the bottom of the upper cab and add a pole between them. I'd probably have the heavier combo on the bottom for stability but that depends on the spec of cabs you have. ......PS: just noticed you've already mentioned this solution.....doh!
