I rang up yesterday as i'm going down there tomorrow...was going to take my F Bass for some much needed love, but i'll just have to make another trip down there sometime soon, what a shame, hehe!!! They still have the beasty Lull and F Bass' in though, so i'll be amused for a while

Haven't read through all of the above but just wanted to put in a few words... Don't think it's been said, if it has, my apologies...but i've found i can play what i hear far more easily if i can sing the lick. Ok, i'm no singer, but it's amazing how quickly you can pick up stuff if you can hear it and then sing it, because you're brain is having to tell your voice the intervals, rather than you playing the first note and then trying out different intervals untill you get it. I've found this to be incredibly helpful, i use it when learning new bass lines, working out solos, even when working out the lines that are in my head. It also helps if you practice singing the lines you're playing because this gets your voice used to singing the notes and intervals. Don't get my wrong...i'm not suggesting you become some kind of magical singing bassist, but being able to pitch the notes with your voice will strengthen your ears ability to hear the lines...and in turn play them... Hope that helps...and sorry if it's already been suggested!

Hi Steve, Good to see your keeping things going on the High-end side of things Got to love the F Bass's man...i can't get enough of mine! I think they have quite polite kind of sound...how have you got your pre-amp on it set up? I'm running mine, full neck pick-up, bridge pick-up off fully, tone off fully...passive...sounds thick, funky and D'angelo never sounded so damn good Loving the Nordy...i've been hankering after one of them, think i'd go for a Lull if i had the cash mind...got to get a go on that bad boy though! Nice one on the Agi front too man! I just changed amps...now playing an Ampeg SVT 2 (non pro)...pure valve beastage J
Hi Jam I've had it since November or so last year. I had a black one the same for about 17 years before. I like them but i only need one 4 stringer and the draw of the passive P is too strong I will post it but I'll not use Parcelforce so it will be up to you to choose a courier company from the list on Paul. The's courier review list here Where are you? OG
Hi mate, I'm in Grantham, Lincolnshire! Parcelforce is cool...had a few basses sent/recieved through them so all is cool!!! How do you find it sounds compared to a passive Precision then? Also, what are the controls on the bass please mate? Thanks Jamie

I tried one out not so long ago...baring in mind that i'm normally playing an F Bass, so something in another league to this... I thought the sound was wicked, for a live bass, you couldn't really go wrong, loads of umph...very phat, very big, would really fit into a Funk/R'n'B/Soul setting nicely, well, anything i guess, i just eq'd it to suite my sound...which it did nicely. Having owned a rather wicked USA Jazz, i was a little put off by it's build quality, but i get the feeling this is very different from bass to bass within this range...so getting a good one would be wicked! All in all, if i were after a modern version of the Jazz, and had a mid-range budget, this would be my choice!!!

Hi everyone, Just been looking into vintage Fenders etc and i've noticed that one or two have pickup covers with a mute attached...i just wondered what that was all about? Is that a common feature with bridge pickup covers? If not, is it just a simple case of glue-ing a bit of foam to the cover in order to create a mute? Also, by having the mute there, what tonal changes do you have...is it similar to the sound when you plam mute? I've only ever played a Jazz bass with a the covers on and i found them to be more of a hinderance than i helping aid...what are they actually for? Thanks guys, Jamie

Hi Guys and Gals, These are a little way off yet, but i thought i'd put them up here now to let you all know about them. You can hear some of our stuff here www.groovecartel.co.uk We're playing at the Yardbird in Birmingham on Feb 23rd, this is our Second gig here, and the last one was killer...such an awesome night with a really wicked crowd. If the last one was anything to go by, this should be our best gig to date (i've got my Ampeg this time round you see ) Then we're playing at the HiFi Club up in Leeds on March 30th. This is our first gig at the HiFi club, but they contacted us a short while ago asking us to play there which was wicked, as it's a hot venue!!! Hope some of you can make it as both of these should be pretty wicked gigs!!! Thanks Jamie

Guys...with the greatest of respect, i put this up here with the best of intentions. If you don't like relic jobs, then start a thread elsewhere to have a moan about them, this was posted for those of us who do appreciate them. If you don't like the concept, fine, but don't moan about it on here please. J
