These look like nice cabs, but just to correct what I believe is a typo, the 1260 doesn't have a 1x16 but a 1x6 instead. I was a little surprised someone actually decided to build a 16" sub vs. the usual 15", so checked out the website. If these were a little lighter (and my wallet a little heavier) I'd definitely be interested in these, but I'm looking for lighter cabs. Free bump.
Thanks for that Dave, i've corrected that As for the weight...i don't consider them to be heavy, i can carry them, one in each hand quite comfortably, and i am by no means, a he-man...they aren't feather-weights, fair enough, but they're not a heavy pair of cabs what so ever!
A few years back I trotted along to a big name store to try out their Ampeg range. It was when the SVT-IV had just come out and there weren't many around. I was about the only guy in there, and happily sat trotting out my favourite licks. I was kind of aware that a guy had come in and was chatting to one of the store people. After a while the store guy calls over and says "can you play something - this guy wants to hear how it sounds?". So I turned up a bit, cracked my fingers, and launched into my rehearsed piece of Come Together - the Marcus Miller version. The guy smiles, says "cool", shakes hands and walks out. As I was leaving I asked who the strange man in the hat was. Sadly it was Marcus Miller.
I'm sorry...but that's just classic...lol!!! Made me chuckle

Hi guys and gals, I'm hoping to get one of the new Dr.Bass cabs on the way into the country from Robbie at RIM Basses, so i'm seeing if there's any interest in my Dr.Bass cabs. I've got an RX1260 and RX210, both are in good condition, they've been gigged by myself, but i've looked after them and cosmetically they're spot on. I bought the RX210 off ebay, and the RX1260 from a user on here...who got it from the same seller as the RX1260 came from...so they've been together before RX210: 2 x 10 with tweeter 500 watts @ 8 ohms 2 x 1/4" jack connector RX1260: 1 x 12 with 1 x 6 and tweeter 500 watts @ 8 ohms 1 x speakon connector (no 1/4" jack connecto) The 1260 is my preferred cab of the 2, it simply sounds awesome...i'm going to be getting the 2460 cab from Robbie, which is the 1260's big brother, they sound huge, warm, and do everything i'd want them to!!! I'd be looking for £450 for them both and i'm quite reluctant to split them, but may do at £230 each. Thanks in advance for any interest...but as i say, this is only a feeler! Thanks Jamie Both have tweeter volume knob on the rear.

Thanks for that kind sir!!! I need to move to London...Grantham just doesn't do it for me, lol!!! I might check out the FiftyFive bar, if not for the music, for the lovely ladies you speak of, hehe...and because i have a friend who lives 5 mins away from there, so a place to lay my head is readily available The George IV sounds interesting though

That's a pretty wicked story man...his playing is phenominal, love it, not to mention his tone I guess everyone on here is going to be going mad over any Aguilar gear up for grabs on here now then, lol!!! Don't suppose you fancy telling us JK's address though, i'll drop off a card in case Mr.Turner moves on at all, lol!

What's the one at the FiftyFive in Camden like...is it jazz? The Spice of Life in Covent Garden has a pretty wicked Jazz jam every other Sunday i do believe!

Hi guys, Just wondered what D'addario string sets you all use...i use the nikel 45's 5 string sets, but wondered what else you all use? Also, where you've found them to be cheapest...i use stringsdirect! J

The beauty of the Lull's is that they have an upgrade option to the Sadowsky pre-amp...heheheheeeee As for the F Basses...definately worth investigating further, i've only played my one, but i know the gallery are stocking them now, and that one or two other users on here have one! I think i'm the only person with the Studio 5 model about...not the BN5, essentially the same, just slight differences!!!
Every time I have heard an F bass being played on a record, in the context of the whole mix it always strikes me how similar they sound to a really good modern Jazz bass.
It's true mate, they nail the sound so well...but have sooooo much else to offer in my opinion! I a/b'd with my old jazz quite rigerously on a few occasions...if recorded, you couldn't pick them apart. If you kick the circuit in, you can get pretty much any modern take on the Jazz sound. But then you have the whole humbucker thing too for the thicker, mellower sound. The electrics are pretty awesome...when you've got you're head around having 6 knobs, 2 of which are push/pull, lol!!! I love mine...but they have an extremely polite sound. Not as honky as some jazz copies...not like Ari's old Atelier, that thing had honk man, enough for anyone to get down to, lol!!! I don't think they have the rudest sound out there, very much a polite, good in the mix sound...they won't jump out and grab you, but they'll certainly lay there, keep the groove sounding sweet...and when called upon to shine through, they have an elegant touch. Still...something like a Lull, with a bit more guts would be welcomed, hehe!!! Having said that, and you know this only too well Ped, i'm learning mroe and more about my F Bass the more i play with it (the whole single-coil / humbucker thing, lol)...i can get it to sound a lot better than i used to now i know how to use the damn thing

Yeah, the Gallery have a Lull in at the moment...a trully killer bass, huge tone!!! Would be a wicked gig bass, the sound is massive...try r'n'b/funk machine!!! Well over-priced though...the UK dealer sells them new for less than the second price it's up for!!! I'm toying with the idea of forgetting a vintage 4 string Fender...bring on a 5 string Jazz Lull Beast!!! I just can't get over how reasonably priced they are compaired to their competitors...headstock design isn't the hottest i don't think, but the sound and feel does it for me!! Lull is where my money would go. The Celindar's are pretty hot though as you say Ped, too pricey for my liking though!!! Of course...if jazz looks aren't everything, and sound is the priority...an F Bass is a contender I guess i would say that though being an F Bass lover
I just discovered this album, it has her guesting on a couple of tracks: really groovy stuff.
oooo....downloading as i type kind sir Ped!!!

Yeah Steve, her lyrcis can be a little 'out there'!!! It's interesting to listen to them i think...although, from my religious point of view, i think some of them are questionable, that's when i stop being silly and start listening back to her playing I've enjoyed watching her vids where she's been in the studio, with another bassist...how she interacts with the other player, and plays around him...that's just awesome!!! I just downloaded the tracks that she played on on Mike Sterns latest album as well as the Soulive track...some wicked playing!!! As we've established...simple yet right on the button groove wise. I've got a lot to learn from her playing!!! Did anyone get a chance to see her on the current tour?

Just to clear up...i believe that Valenti basses used to be made from Warmoth necks, however, Nino now makes his own!!! And whilst i appreciate you've made your oders...what's the matter with Mike Lull basses??? I've been able to play a few of his basses, as well as some Sadowsky's...personally i'd buy a Lull, not only are they cheaper, but the feel and sound, for me, was more pleasing!!! Not trying to put a downer on this whole thing...just trying to put out some happy words of bassage on the Lull department!!!
I have a German Made Marleaux M-bass, based on a Fodera I think!
I can vouch for the Marleaux's...i own a Constat Fretless 5, they're awesome instruments, totally kick ass!!! Really want to get my hands on one of the M-bass models though, they look awesome, and from what i've heard, they're supposed to sound pretty hot too!!!

Indeed it would...another artisit who i've been listening to a lot recently! Got to see him last year on his tour...what a performer!!! Yeah, she does have quite a simply approach, but still, some of her grooves are solid man, her feel for the time, i mean, just some of her fills, they're simply as you say, but in some ways...i don't know. I think sometimes it's just that she has such a great feel for the groove that her phrasing is totally unique, that's the best way for me to put it i think, she just has a completely unique feel which i really love!!! I'll check out that site though mate, thanks for that!!!

Mike...that is quite possibly one of the nicest Sei's i've seen!!! I'm sorry, but i need to try this when you've had this for a while dude... I'm pleased it's coming together nicely my friend, can't wait to hear some of your tunes with it! Need to get myself down to the gallery soon!!!

Hey man... Michell's playing is awesome...her time and feel are up ther with the best in my opinion, she's just one hot player. I've got the Plantation Lullabies and Peace Beyound Passion, and every time i listen to them, i just can't get over her playing. Also, the video clips that i've seen have just made me even me a fan of hers, she just has awesome funk within her, love it!!! I've not heard the new one, only the tunes on here mysapce, sounded a bit Indie to me, i still plan on getting it...was gutted that i couldn't get over to Ireland to see her on her recent tour I've also heard the albut with the funky writting on the cover (white background, red writting), she's got Matthew Garrison playing on it...that's an awesome album too!!! She's definately a wicked player though...you say not the most technically gifted, but i don't know...if you're talking about double-tumbing, 4 finger picking etc, then yeah, your right...but when it comes to grooving, i personally get more from an inspirational point of view, from Meshell's playing, than that over some of todays most technically gifted players. She grooves like very few can in my opinion, take 'make me wanna holler', pure filth What's your overall thoughts on the album though...has it got some grooves? More of her crazy ranting lyrics? Still trying to work out what she's getting at with some of the Peace Beyound Passion lyrics...lol!!! Ooo...and for all of her fans on here...i've managed to convert my band too, we've added 'Bittersweet' to our set, sounds sweet

This is turning into a Precision vs Jazz lovers thread, lol!!! My fear of going for the Jazz would be that i don't actually need another Jazz bass, as the F Bass has that ground covered, but then again, i guess it also has a pretty mean Precision sound too! All of my current listening has been on the whole old school funk/r'n'b and acid jazz side of things. I can tell the Jazz users, it's a much pokier sound, which is nice, but i'm after that low, under-pinning sub bass kind of sound, round and warm. Can a Jazz, favouring the neck pickup, achieve this? Maybe if i were to get a jazz a do the classic...add a small piece of foam under the strings at the bridge for some thuddy funk delight? Any thoughts on that?
Not really headlining unfortunately but I will put you in touch with the guy who puts on the night. Contact Yvan at Raison d'Etre - www.reason2b.net . He holds an open mic audition every month. That's how we got it. If I remember correctly, you're from out of town but it still might be worth making a trip down for it. He also puts on things at places like Cargo and Koko.
Nice one kind sir! We're based out of Peterborough, but we might be able to come down for some funk Thanks again my friend!!! Hope the gig goes well...although, having played there, i'm sure you'll have an awesome night!!!!
