Hmm, they are £269 new inc. postage, so for an extra £40 I could have a new one.

You could... and then decide you don't like it and loss that £40 in resale... but I doubt you'd not like it to be honest! Great, great pedal. The one in the classifieds is no longer available anyway as I've just shipped it out!

  2. Origin Effects Cali76 Compact Bass for sale.

Recently acquired this and its totally changed my opinion on compressors. Wonderful sounding and (more importantly for me) feeling compressor, but I've built a ThorpyFX Fat General clone that does a pretty good job for a ludite like me so to free up some beer tokens this has to go. Boxed with instructions.

£220 plus postage or trade for a Source Audio C4 with cash my way. *SOLD*

  3. Darkglass X7 for sale.

Bought this from @danbowskill a few months back, but after a brief dalliance I upgraded to @Kev's X Ultra... Then took a sideways step to  Tech21 dUg... Then back to this in conjunction with a Darkglass Element... But after all that I'm back to my fav drive pedal of all time, the Lomenzo Hyperdrive, which just tickles my pickle in a particular way. So it's time for this to go.

Boxed. A few VERY slight cosmetic marks but nothing much to write home about. No feet or velcro present but I have a few little rubber feet knocking around I can include if necessary.

Now looking £170 including postage or trade for a Source Audio C4 or a Darkglass Alpha Omega (or Alpha Omicron with a little cash my way)

  4. As I play less frequently nowadays I find a compressor extremely helpful - I used to hate the things so this is only a recent revelation, maybe 2-3 months old, and I'm on my 3rd compressor already. The Origin Cali76 Compact Bass is outstandingly good, but since I don't like to have too much money tied up in pedals I built a clone of the ThorpyFX Fat General which sounds awesome...

Looks great - thanks for the nudge - I'm going to build one! They have a huge range of pcb's - I built their hudson duocast clone with a NOS mullard OC71 that is older than me! It really has an amazing tone.

A hudson clone is on my to-do list! Was going to vero it, but after this experience I think I'll grab a PCB!

  6. Just a follow-up on yesterday's babble about this PedalPCB General Tso (ThorpyFX Fat General clone)...

First build in a LONG time. First Musikding kit - other than the poor quality 125B clone enclosure, a pretty good kit. First time using a PedalPCB board - they're not for the beginner as the documentation is a bit thin. But it turned out brilliantly! Probably my favourite pedal I've built. Doesn't look like much but at this point I couldn't care less! Need to find my stash of knobs...

Cool thanks I will look into that.

What about cleaning options, is there a simple way to try to clean the switches?

Getting contact cleaner into a footswitch isn't particularly easy in my experience. It can be done, but I'd go with replacement myself.

  8. It's a general footswitches issue, not particular to 3leaf. Both those pedals are "of an age". They'll be standard footswitches, easily replaced or even upgraded with something higher quality (like the current Gorva switches which look excellent).

  9. I've just put this one together - I say put together, but I can't find my velcro so only the tuner and compressor are "in place", hence the OCD-annoying misalignment. I also have EBS flat cables ordered to tidy things up a bit.

First pedalboard I've had in a long time. The Cali76 CB is outstandingly good - I've never been a compressor fan but this has changed my mind! The Oxford has just turned up and it's a brilliant pedal. The Element is excellent now I know how to work the thing properly - I was convinced the touch pad was broken and even contacted customer service at Darkglass about it.... It wasn't, just designed to be pushed harder than I thought! I'm not overly fussed on the X7 in conjunction with everything else yet so it may be getting replaced...

I always feel guilty about having a lot of money invested in pedals (probably because I spent so long as a straight into the amp kinda guy) so I'm always on the hunt for "same effect, lower outlay" alternatives. The DIY pedal bug has reared it's head again and I have Vintage Microtubes, B3K and Fat General clones to build so I don't imagine this combination will be fixed for very long!

Can't wait for mine to arrive.

With a bit of luck I'll have it tomorrow with the mail, more likely and at latest Wednesday though.

You noticed any difference in how the Voice knob control works on this pedal compared to the other pedals in this series, as I mentioned in my previous reply having read some people mentioned on the internet, and if so, could you then perhaps in explain in what way (from what I gathered something about turning it above noon not only boosts the upper mids but also tightens the bass response somehow)?

I think it's the reverse. Bellow about 10 o'clock there's very little bass and very little output (without adjusting the level and drive to compensate). All comes back in after that and starts to sound really obnoxiously loud and in-your-face beyond about 1 o'clock, so much so I had to adjust the drive and output to control it a little. It reminds me very much of the voice control on the JOYO Orange Juice I used to have. I can't really comment on whether it's different from others in the series beyond saying my VT Bass modded British Sound doesn't lose so much volume or low end with the dial low as the Oxford does, but it still gets pretty obnoxious in the upper mids when turned up.

I think this is going to be my always on pedal now, which is what I'd intended the VT Bass modified British Sound to be. I'd considered the American Sound but I would imagine this is a little edgier, which suits me just fine!

  11. Mine should be here at the end of next week. I have been using a JOYO British Sound that I modified to VT Bass specs with a few component tweeks, but the more I use it with my other pedals, the less I like it. Having listened a lot to the American sound demos on YouTube I think that might be closer to what I'm after, but the Oxford has a certain appeal since I do so love the Orange bass amps.
