1. Good fun, i could do that again, just maybe when the weathers a little warmer, lol.
2. I think we all learned that black is still the loudest colour of them all!
3. Hi, just to save time driving around, any chance of a post code for the venue? Or did speed read passed it?????? P.s. may or may not bring the status, as the strings are shot and a crackly jack.... Jim.
4. Hi all, i missed last years bash, but am tring to get to this years. I can bring my fearful rig if anyone interested ?
5. I was using ashdown for ten years a ABM 410 combo, then later a abm head and cabs, only ever had to change a pre amp tube in the combo. Never let me down once, how bad can that be )
6. Hi mate, long time no speak. Mine are italian poplar but i have given them a good coat of wood hardener before repainting them and it works a treat, goes off very hard. How the business doing? Well i hope.
7. Easy for me, fearful 15/6/1 + 15 sub and GB shuttlemax 9.2. As much of everything you could ever need.
8. Hi, you say no tweeter but remember these are not crappy piezo units, they are high end compression tweeters on a really good horn and controled via a variable l pad, Please do not think they sound harsh in any way and also allow for a range of playing styles and instruments as they were also designed for use with keys and drums in mind. Then if you play a precision with tape wound or flats all the time then you have no use for any type of tweeter, but for what they cost i would allways fit one.
9. Hi, i built and still use one of the first 15/6/1 in the uk, since then i have built a 15 sub to go with it. They are easy to build and use the best components. The sound is truly amazing but very realistic, as everything that you put in comes out including all the bad signal chain and any weak spots in your playing. But after 13 years with ashdown it was lifting a 2 inch blanket from the speaker, any effects just sound great. I built mine from italian poplar and weighs about 44 lbs! The sub is lighter still. Its a no brainer really. P.s i am not a ashdown basher, i have just moved on to better things.
10. ARSE!!!! Just had a guy leave, now ive got to cover his call out rota, I was up for this (
11. Im up for it, im in glastonbury and can probably bring my fearful cabs for people to try

13. If your interrsted in real world experience of the genzbenz stuff i can help. I have now giged my shuttlemax 9.2 almost every week for a bit over a year now, and i love it, its by far the most versatile amp ive had in 30 years of playing. I pair mine with a fearful 15/6/1 + 15 sub and it will cover just about any gig i can think of, inside , outside, it has allways given plenty of sound, and many times ive been pulled from the FOH as i carried better on my own. For one dont get caught up in the watts debate, its speakers that move the air, and some are night and day better than others, 200 watts going into 2 12's or whatever are allways going to be louder then 300 watts going into one 12" The rated output in the GB manuals etc are all RMS. Hope you find what your after and good luck.
14. Hi JTUK, true that theres not many 12" cabs out there that can do it all , but there is defo one , fearful 12/6/1. Extended lowend that has to heard to be belived and a smooth top end.

16. When i bought the amp i also got a tc rh750 so i could compare them, don't get me wrong as i do like some of the tc features but i was not for me, to much baked in sound.
17. Yep they really are that good, I've been using mine for nearly a year now into my fearful 15/6/1. Awesome!!!!
18.
Here's what they look like now: The cabs that went out 'on tour' and attracted a few pejorative 'homemade' comments were the very early ones - that was quite a few years ago - the fundamentals haven't changed but everything else has, resulting in a product with cosmetics to match performance. The fEarfuls are much more like the Big Series cabs - different design for a different purpose! As I've always said though, get a cab that gets the sound you want and the loudness you need whilst fulfilling your practical requirements. It doesn't matter whether that comes from 15"s, 12"s, 10"s or a crate filled with mice waving those oriental fans at appropriate frequencies!
Good point, i have played thru one of your big ones and if i had bot allready built my cab, i think i might have cut his hands off for it, i have not tried a compact but i doubt i would be disapointed.
19.
Does the 6" speaker make much difference?
God yes !!, simply the best, cleanest tone ive had in 25 years of playing. After 13 years of exelent ashdown kit this is night and day. Better in every way.
20.
So my Berg 412 is up for sale soon and I am going back to 2 15" loaded cabs as I am looking for something more modular and I like 15s. I have narrowed it down to the above two cabs. Have tried the Genz 15 and liked it very much but have not seen or tried a Compact. The Compacts are half the weight, a fair bit cheaper and as Alex seems to know his onions and specialises in bass enclosures should be engineered and perform extremely well. The Ubers have tweeters (not that I have ever used one or felt I needed one, but you can always turn them off/down) which is an extra feature and Genz seem to make some very well respected bass products. How a cab looks does not really bother me, I have normally got my back to them but I know some on here have commented that the Compacts have an almost unfinished look. So any info would be very helpful. Ta
HI, well i run my shuttlemax 9.2 thur a fearul 15/6/1, i would say its similar to the compact overall and if you like clarity with endless bottom, then look no further job done.
21.
How did you settle on the STL 9? Have you looked at the Streamliner 900 or the TC RH750? Both would be stiff competition for the STL 9.
I went for the shuttlemax 9.2 and paired with my fearful 15/6/1 and it the best sounding light weight rig ive ever heard, full stop. As the barefaced cabs are similar i would imagine it to be about the same. for me the the RH 750/450 were too coloured for my taste.
22. Hi.i built my 15/6/1 six months ago, and to be honest its the best cab I've heard in nearly 30 years . I used 12mm poplar ply from Avon plywoods and blue arran for the speakers etc., crossover parts were direct from erse in the US , no customs to pay. Once i had all the Parts built the cab on sat, painted on Sunday and running on Tuesday. I paired it with a genz benz shuttle9.2 and im very happy. Be warned these cabs are very accurate and will make you work on your playing, and very very loud!! and only weighed 42lbs. Building a 12/12/6/1 for s metal head soon.
