1. I don't know about weight saving from a 33" scale. My Finn has that scale and it's the heaviest bass I have. Very happy to put up with that for the playability and tone which are first class.
2.
This is a great idea for the marketplace! - £1000 and up - £500 to £1000 - £350 to £500 - £200 to £350 - The grotty bargain bin. Saves trawling through all that posh crap....!!!
Only problem is Fender sell basses in every one of those brackets which would mean me waiding through all their stuff.
3. Climbing out the wardrobe on Saturday morning.
4. That's the first time I've been cool then, never mind VERY cool.
5. And there was me thinking my gas would be cured when my Overwater arrives. That is a bit beautiful.
6.
P.s gas almost completely cured
You mean you have found the Holy Grail, Marcus. Three days later. No pics no bass. :-)
7. It is amazing the power you get from a 9v circuit in the East preamps. I have two Retros and an ACG filter pre. All great bits of kit. The Overwater is so much more straightforward though. I do sometimes get a bit lost on the East kit if I haven't used them for a while.
8. Yes, it has the Overwater preamp. I think that is the default pre for the SBS Lite that this is. There is always the option for other preamps if someone wanted that.
9. I think £7 is a bit better than £23 on ebay.
10. Will someone tell me when the bass arrives......Hello.....Hello......is anyone there?
11. You've been there. How do I do that?
12. Thanks RK. Excitement is not really the word... Sleep is an issue though
13. That will be another bit of attention to detail Chris puts into his instruments. The darkness of the ebony board probably helps too.
14. It is rather nice. I suspect it will look even better in the flesh. Camera phone, white background and strip lighting won't really do a picture any justice. No offence to Martin's photography skills. All the guys involved have done a first class job as usual and turn around has been so quick for a custom build.
15. And the whole thing.
16. It's a bit like asking the length of a piece of string. It depends how often you use the bass. If you play it for 3 hours every day they won't last long. If you play it less they will last longer. Best rule of thumb is to keep spare batteries in the case all the time then you won't get caught out. I didn't have spares once and had the rise taken out of me by the guitarist. The shame of it.
17. Palpitations! Bass is finished and will be with me sometime next week. I just love the bridge. ...and the knobs a sublime.
18. Loosen the strings a bit and move it around until the intonation is as close as possible. That's it.
19. The wood under the finish probably has something to do with that. It's gawjuss!
20. I think it was probably worth £200, since that's what it sold for. You can't beat a good conspiricy theory though.
21. +1 on the used iPad. I'm typing this on a used one picked up on ebay for the same price as a new android. Go for a 10" screen as well. I think 8" would probably be too small for reading on a gig. No need for security software on ipads either. Buy an android and you'll probably have to buy that as well which will on cost you more.
22. Good choice that man. I have them on my ACG and they produce a great tone on that. Expensive they may be but they last a long time. I have a set on a Bass Collection which are OLD. Still produce a good tone though.
