Depped for a Madness tribute near Southampton last night. Was in a big social club with a predictably mixed audience of all ages. Sight read the whole thing, mostly successfully, only second time I've ever done this live. Bugera Veyron T, Barefaced, Bass Centre P. Great fun.

I've gigged with it using one of the pitch shift options and it was absolutely fine

John Entwistle or Chris Squire, who do you prefer and why?
stewblack replied to The-Ox's topic in General Discussion
For me it's a really simple one. I prefer John Entwistle because I am way more familiar with him, as I like the songs the Who play. I haven't ever made it through a whole Yes song. I'm sure I would like the bass if I did because I've worked with people who were huge Yes fans and they often said I played just like Chris Squire. -
Yes! BaMnPitch it's called. It's a doozy.

If it's oiled, petrol is a good cleaner. Or WD40.

Nope. Nothing at all 🤷♂️

My Joyo Ironman board is complete. Tuner arrived this morning. Well. I might get the flanger and swap out one of the drives. My rule has been to buy all of them used, pay no more than £25 a pedal, or £30 including postage. On a Harley Benton Spaceship (the littlest one), the whole thing powered by a rechargeable battery pack. It sounds ace.

Just got home from taking part in a Bandeoke. I suspect the sudden arctic chill had an impact on the audience numbers, but those there enjoyed it. I used my Bugera Veyron T, and it didn't just look lovely but sounded ace too. Put a Bass Centre P Bass into it via the Zoom B6. Oh my goodness that's a great pedal. The envelope filter I used was head and shoulders above any I've gigged with - and believe me I've had more than a few. So simple to tweak on the fly, and so many great sounds. I'm a very happy bunny. Nice to get paid on a Thursday too.

It's a kind of sickness I know. But once I find a couple of nice pedals, I inevitably move towards getting as many as possible in the series. The Joyo Ironman range has never disappointed, which makes resisting a keenly priced example even harder. This sexy little black number claims to be an amp sim, but a simulation of what amp I couldn't say. I can however confirm it is a lovely, gnarly distortion, with a wide variety of overdrives, very similar to the larger California Sound. And yes, it's good with a bass thorough it.

I'm relatively GAS free since buying the Zoom B6, honestly there's nothing it can't do and it will stand a lot of experimentation (play). However if I had another room and an unlimited budget: Catalinbread Coriolis Effect, GFI System Rossie Multi Filter, Catalinbread Zero Point Flanger, Boss SY-2, The Fart Pedal. I believe the world is divided into people who can't see the point in the Fart Pedal, and people who's immediate response to hearing about it, is that life is not worth living without one.

I only said it because I know he doesn't use FB

Was it a Behringer BX4500H? I only ask because that was an exceptionally good amp which might have had a bit to do with it.

Should you match bass amps to cabs by the same manufacturer ?
stewblack replied to Roger Eve's topic in General Discussion
As above. Sit the amp on a Barefaced cab or two. Any amp. Literally. It'll sound dynamite. -
I'm similarly enamoured of octave effects, but managing to resist.

Hello Chris, welcome to BC. Keep coming back and we may get you away from that guitar. You can use your login for guitarchat if you like but gawd knows what goes on over there

Compression, anyone else here like using a tonne of it?
stewblack replied to shoulderpet's topic in Accessories and Misc
Some compressors can't be turned up too high or they suck up and spit out all the unwanted noise. Others don't. Which makes me wonder if they work at all 🤷♂️ -
I await your conclusions with some excitement.

Would this do it?
-
Well, it definitely boosted my signal. Tell me how to carry out a definitive test and I'll do it. EDIT I realise I won't have the necessary equipment to do anything scientific, so I downloaded a decibel meter app and chose an amp/cab combo, set all tone to zero and volume/gain to half way. There was a 10 decibel increase according to my probably not very accurate app. But really it could be louder it could be quieter. Setting it up how I like it to sound and it increased by just shy of 20 dB.

They've been saying that for a while now. I can happily wait. I was asking if anyone knew where they were in stock
